Have seen the Colombian second division playoff, america de Cali (probably the equivalent of arsenal there) got relegated a few years ago (Clinton list crippled them as their old owners were massive drug lords), have fucked up their promotion again tonight, but in a month or so there is a promotion playoff to increase the top division by 2 clubs but it's only open to 'historic' clubs, fucks sake you thought the fa were bent fucks

River's Sanchez with 2 poor shots when other options were the better play.

River look the more likely to score in the 2nd half

Diaz of Boca sent off (2nd yellow) in the last minute for kicking out a River player in the corner of the pitch.

To be honest I wouldn't want to take the ball into the corner in this game - I like my legs intact.

The 1st leg of the Copa Sudamericana Final between Atletico Nacional (Col) v River Plate (Arg) is on tonight (technically 12.15am tomorrow morning) - live on Premier Sports - and the usual places online too...

If it's anything like both the semis were then this'll be a decent game.

The 2nd leg of the Final is on Wednesday 10th December.

Atletico starting strongly - hit the post on 5 mins (after gk fumble), and some very decent wing play from the Atleti's left winger and right back.

Deafening atmosphere - good games so far

1-0 to Atleti. 34mins in. Good probing pass once again opens up gap between River right back and centre-back and the Atleti winger finishes smartly.

River start the 2nd half well and creat some half chances, then Atletico hit the bar on the counter with a header.

River then equalise on 60mins with a Piscalichi long range shot the Atleti gk should have done better with.

Atleti head just wide from a corner after the River keeper misjudges the flight of the ball. River then nearly take the lead with a flicked header from a freekick that goes narrowly wide.

Could have gone either way in the 2nd half, though Atleti may be disappointed not to be taking a lead into the 2nd leg.

Full time 1-1. Enjoyable game that.

Haven't seen much of how Atleti play - but liked watching them a lot - very assured on the ball, even in tight spaces at the back players will play their way out and then look for a forward pass. Fans were great too - deafening atmosphere tonight.

2nd leg of the Final should be great - no away goals rule either :)

Liverpool (of Montevideo) are continuing their flying start in the 2nd division of the Uruguayan League - played 11, won 10, and drawn 1 of the league season so far :)

I watched the whole match. First half flew by as both sides went for it. Got a bit cagey the second half and River scored off two headers by defense-men off corners.

Good match overall.

River gave a plaque and shirt to Ex-River Juan Pablo Angel about 20 minutes before the match started. He never came on for National.

Lovely interview with the manager of National Atletico on BBC 5 Live, the Columbian manager who studied at John Moores in Liverpool, rented a room overlooking Melwood for three years so he could watch us train. His side, I think lost the Copa Libertadores against River.

The recent Figueirense and Guarani de Palhoca match ended in a 2-2 draw. The comedy gold occured after coach Sergio Ramirez was sent to the stands.

He had other thoughts, he scaled one of the stands, and began barking orders to his side through a traffic cone on the roof.

A match, in the Cordoba district of Argentina, has ended in violence and there is one casualty. After receiving a red card for a foul, the player went to the sideline and retrieved a gun from his backpack. He returned to the playing field where he shot and killed the referee. Another footballer was struck in the chest but he has survived. The assailant has not been captured yet.

Corinthians got off to a good start in the 2016 Copa Libertadores - a 1-0 away win vs Cobresal of Chile (though it was a 90th minute own goal).

The superbly named The Strongest (from Bolivia) won 1-0 away vs Sao Paulo too :)

Corinthians and San Paulo fans were heading to their derby match. The two buses they were traveling on was in a traffic jam near each other. Both groups disembarked the buses and had an impromptu brawl in the middle of the street.

The match later ended with a 2-nil win for Corinthians.

Massive balls on Ricardo Oliveira though haha all those digs and he still scored a late goal and took his pen well.

3-0 to Boca at halftime - though seems the Newell's gk is in a bad way. Lengthy stoppage and doctors & the medical milk float on the pitch.

Dunga pays the price for the poor Copa America showing and is sacked. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jun/14/dunga-sacked-by-brazil-after-copa-america-exit

Seems Tito of Corinthians will be the new Brazil coach (shame for Corinthians as their season has only just started so it'll be a big blow losing a top manager like that).

He'll have an interesting and quick start - the Mens Olympic Team tournament is in Brazil in August... he'll probably go down a hero if he wins as Brazil have never won the trophy before.

The 2016 Copa Libertadores has reached the semi-final stage...

July 6th is the 1st leg, July 13th is the 2nd leg - Independiente del Valle vs Boca Juniors & Sau Paulo vs Atlético Nacional

with the Final being played on 20th and 27th July.

Brazil set to appoint Corinthians’ Tite as new coach despite anger from club

They didn’t call us once; of course I’d have said yes, says club president
‘Tite deserves national side for work he has done; they don’t deserve Tite’

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jun/16/brazil-set-appoint-tite-corinthians-new-coach

'The Corinthians manager Tite has accepted an offer to coach Brazil but his appointment provoked fury at the club, who accused the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) of underhand tactics and unethical behaviour.

Tite, who led Corinthians to two Serie A titles as well as Copa Libertadores and Club World Cup triumphs, will replace Dunga, who was fired on Tuesday after Brazil were knocked out of the Copa América at the group stage for the first time since 1987.

The 55-year-old Tite, whose official name is Adenor Leonardo Bacchi, is expected to sign a deal on Thursday, although details have yet to be hashed out, the CBF said in a statement.

The Corinthians president, Roberto de Andrade, however, hit out at the confederation. “I am furious with the CBF,” Andrade told reporters. “They didn’t even call us once. It wouldn’t have changed anything if they’d called us and asked for permission to talk to the manager. Of course I’d have said yes.

“Tite deserves the national side for the work he has done and for the person he is,” Andrade added. “The national side doesn’t deserve Tite. The CBF doesn’t deserve a person like Tite. They aren’t used to dealing with ethical people.”

The CBF responded by saying they had tried calling Andrade on Wednesday morning after spending three hours in talks with Tite but were unable to reach him via phone or text.

“The CBF has only respect for Brazilians clubs and their interests,” the governing body added in a statement.

Although Andrade’s comments were unusually outspoken they were not the first public criticism of the CBF over the past six months.

The last three CBF presidents – including the current holder of the position, Marco Polo Del Nero – were indicted in the US for bribery and racketeering offences as part of the Fifa corruption scandal.

Tite was one of 100 people who signed an open letter last December calling for Del Nero to resign.

Del Nero did not respond to the letter, which was signed by Pelé, Zico and Raí among others, and he did not accompany Brazil to the US for either the Copa América or friendly matches played there.'

Corinthians lost 1-0 away vs Fluminense earlier today, and 1-0 away to rivals Palmeiras last week.

Atlético Nacional beating Sao Paolo 2-0 in the first leg away from home is very impressive.

Game changed when Sao Paolo went down to 10 men when their captain got sent off, which was the wrong decision by the ref.
Finished at the age of 26. The Mike Tyson of football.

The 2nd leg of the Copa Libertadores Final is on now - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f10FNxtotyI&list=PL8fVUTBmJhHKq0MhIplzljtGhHN2E_jk0&index=16

The 1st leg finished Atlético Nacional (of Colombia) 1 - 1 Independiente del Valle (of Ecuador).

There are no 'away goals' in the Final - if the scores finish level after 90 mins it'll be 30 minutes of Extra Time - and if still level after that it'll be penalties...

The Uruguayan Clásico between Nacional and Peñarol has been suspended, following violent robberies and incidents between ultras of the latter and police forces. These included a 13. kg / 29 lb. gas cylinder being thrown from the upper stands, against policemen evacuating box office staff.  :o :-\ :no

Apparently, it was from one of the food stores that was looted inside the stadium.
