Liverpool FC great managers dvd
« on: June 21, 2010, 12:15:38 am »
i just typed in search for this title and all sorts come up in results.  so i thought it be quicker posting.

anyway, does anyone have any of these?  if so, are they both the same even though they are under different labels?..  if anyone has the 2 disc set, does disc 1 end suddenly and you have to change over to disc 2 sharpish to keep the story going?

i,ve got the first one,i was given it as a present just after it came out i can't see there being much different between the two.however if i as to buy one i'd go with the original 3disc box set it looks better on the shelf having one dvd to each manager.i found the paisley one very good the players who are interviewed come across having  great amount of love and respect for him.
5 stars upon my shirt.
i am scouse not english.

oh cool. a reply.  nice one!  yeah, thats what i was thinking, a proper box set would look nicer on the shelf, but i am running out of room - seriously.

what i would be wary of with the newer dvd is that it'll cut off half way through the paisley part and have to switch it over to the 2nd disc to continue, even though it'll save me space on the shelf.
maybe the itv one has got different music or something. or could have totally differnt scenes altogether.

think i'll stick yo my instincts and get the first one..

It's exactly the same mate. There are a number of our DVDs that have been re-released a few times to get more money out of us.

I wonder how long the club will wait before adding Rafa to the list and bring out his dvd?

Seriously, it's always irked me that Fagan doesn't get a look in - though the 'No Ordinary Joe' program on the LFC tv channel does do a top job on him.

that's an interesting point you made there - 1983-84 and 1984-85. division one champions, milk cup winners and european cup in one season even tho bodged the charity shield in august..

could easily have slotted in an hour for joe.  and another hour for rafa...

hmm, what if i buy the 1st set and they bring out a new set with joe and rafa?  that would be just typical

^ I'd reckon that the club probably wouldn't bring out a disc for Joe, nor a new one for Rafa right now in the current ownership/management saga.

However these may be of interest:-

^  I think this one is a season out of date though...

though they may be available through other means too  ;)

Hi

I've actually got the more recent 2-disc version. All three original documentaries are now contained on disc 1 which lasts for the full original 3 hours.  Disc 2 is completely new and features additional bonus material on Shankly, Paisley and Dalglish. For example, interviews and key match highlights.

So, I'd go for the newer 2-disc version for the extras.

thanks bombardier.. that has put it n a new light altogether.

that's the hiccup with re-releases as you say disc 2 contains new material.

i'll order it later, as it will be better for me as it will save some space on the shelf as all 3 of the original discs are on disc one, that will save taking discs out and swapping over.

glad you showed up and saw the thread!!

cheers to all who provided the info  :)

feel a bit bad about it.. if i buy it from hmv, some cash ends up in g+h pockets.. so if i buy one that is used and in excellent condition from amazon, i can bypass them as it's already been paid for.. sense?

it came through the post this morning. may as well watch some before the world cup comes back on.
i'm playing the shankly part - narrated by clive tyldesley.
not fussed with the music in background, would have been better without electric guitar or 'dance' but then again i can be a funny fecker when i want to be lmoa

what this shankly dvd is, is a remake of the 1990 video also made by itv under the telstar label, which has a longer running time.  what they did was replace keegan with brian hall towards the beginning, omitted the liverpool v ajax games, left the phil thompson parts out, cut out the 71 cup final action out, left some games out in 73, didn't show the plyers running round the pitch on winning the league. left out bits of the 74 final, the lindsay goal.
on the video, they had shankly chant during the credits.

if the dvd was exactly the same as the video, it be even better.
