Bellamy did the same thing to City when he came to us.  They key difference though was Craig was crowded out of the City side by all the other players they brought in.  Joe was meant to be a key player for us and he failed.

I don't wish him ill but he has profited very handsomely on a financial level from his time at Liverpool so it kind of sticks in my craw to wish him well.  Like I said best to just move on.

Has never publicly rocked the boat, has never abused the support or been anything but respectful about the club, his team mates and the managers. Some of the vitriol is daft - turn it on the person who decided he knew better than a football manager and wanted a nice little PR bounce by signing a 'big name'.

He came here, did the bare minimum for a massive wage ("He was always professional") and left with a fat payoff. Of course the contract stated he gets the money but you can't expect us to be pleased about it.

In his time at Liverpool I don't think he showed he was a "top lad" or whatever, just that he is finished as a top level footballer. I have no gratitude towards him and I don't know why any red would.

Does he want to play football that badly? Not badly enough if he wouldn't take £30k a week. He wants to play football as long as he is still getting £80k a week. Is that admirable?

Whether we have him the silly contract or not, let's not pretend the lad just wants to get on the pitch.

I have no ill will towards him and won't slag him off, it just didn't work out, but I won't praise him, as he has cost us a fortune, whether his fault or not.

this signing smacks of a publicity stunt to keep the mob at bay and it appears to be working.
purslow's a clever bastard, get some over-rated english player, that nobody else wants, on 'a free' (90K a week ain't free) and claim it shows ambition.
why would he sign for us when he knows there's no champions league next season, and maybe not for a few seasons?
either because he didn't get a better offer or he knows he might actually get a game playing for us.
he's a typical, over-hyped by the english media, type player who wouldn't get a look in at the top european (or domestic) clubs, gives the ball away far too often, no tactical intelligence etc etc.
this is the guy who couldn't get into one of the worst english teams in decades.
and why does everyone seem to think that torres is going to be impressed by this?
how does signing a chelsea reject on a free show ambition?
signing torres showed ambition, signing this guy and calling it 'a coup' shows just how far we've fallen.

I think Hodgson would be a good shout at this point, and its looking likely.
Apparently Houllier has recommended him to purslow and kenny looks to be moving aside, he wouldn't have come out with that if there isn't plans afoot.
Hodgson has good credentials, he's well liked in the game around europe apparently too, you could see that when he was picking up his euro league thingy medal.
He seems like a decent man who could fill the role with a bit of dignity and grace, which is something I'd expect of every Liverpool manager and I think we've always had managers like that.
And he's got experience in europe too.
We need someone who can work with limited resources for a while and isn't going to complain about it.

Nice of you to generalise people and call everyone with an opposing view liars and jealous.

But anyway in regards to some of the other points you made, yes Cole is entitled to his 90k/week while he was here (for doing shit all may I add) but so are we as fans entitled to express our displeasure at what we see as him trying to rip the club off even further by demanding an extra 40k-50k/week for 18 more months.

In my opinion the people turning a blind eye to this and instead making him out to be some nice and innocent lad with only the best wishes of LFC at heart are being pretty naive. Sure things didn't work out for him like he would have liked but I can assure you he won't be shedding a tear after collecting in the millions from us.
