Went to see the new Bond movie last Friday as that's when it opened here in the US.

They had the trailers there as well. Looked pretty good.

No way will it scale the heights of Wrath of Khan.

But then, what does?

Truth indeed

Ricardo Montalban - what casting.

Hope it isn't too gadgety and serious, will miss the point.

Oh, Syler !

Looks Vulcan already, so no real change for him.

But the nutters will be outside the local cinema in costume for this ....

Our club is next door, coming in for work in the morning pushing past assorted Vulcans again methinks.

Obviously, he’s not going to say that the movie he's in sucks, but it is worth noting that one of Simon Pegg’s previous characters, Tim Bisley of Spaced, said “there are some things in life that are just fact. And one of those facts is that every odd-numbered Star Trek movie is s**t.” Speaking with Wired.com, Pegg was put on the spot about the line, to which he responded that there are exceptions to every rule, and that he has “been made to participate in his own wrong proving.”

JJ Abrams has this habit of putting me in the position of making me eat my own words. When I was doing press for Shaun of the Dead, a journalist asked me if I was going to go off to Hollywood now. I said: “I'm not gonna just run off and do some film like Mission: Impossible: III.” I just made up a film. Four months later, JJ calls me and asks me if I wanted to be in Mission: Impossible: III and I was like: “Yes!” Oh what a fool.

This odd-numbered film is going to be amazing.

The last two were shit, as was Enterprise and half of Voyager.

This whole film reaks to me of a bad idea, if they were going to do another film they should've based it around Deep Space Nine and the return of Sisko, or whacked out another one for Picard. It seems pointless casting new people in an old story...

RIP Majel. Very sad

As for the film. Well I'm very excited as I'm a bit of Trekkie and Ive been checking its progress for ages now. I do have a few issues with the Trailer though! First of all; why can the young Kirk drive? When in the original seriesand STIV its clearly shown he can not! And secondly why is the Enterprise-A absolutely massive in the shot when you see it being built? It was only about 300 meters long, but it looks huge! Thirdly... Chris Pine as Kirk!!! Chris Pine! What a drab piece of casting! Even so, I'm very excited. My main worry is that it will all be half decent sci-fi, but not good Trek!

It's an alternate reality type thing rather than just a remake of the original, apparently.

think it's a prequel, showing their first mission(s?) as a crew. but leonard nimoy will be shown at one point so it may be safe to assume hinky time travel's (or an alt universe) involved too.

By all accounts she was great to all the fans, too.  Turning up to conventions as often as possible, always staying late to see everyone, if another actor had to pull out of a fan-thing she'd ring round the actors from all of the series and make sure there was a replacement etc...

I think something original is required to kick start the films again.

To be honest, I think Star Trek is pretty much dead in terms of doing "something new"/being kick started.

This film does actually look pretty good, but it just doesn't really "fit" with the rest of the franchise. It's all previously been sort of telling the same story in different places, timelines been important etc. Enterprise fucked it up a bit, but that was pretty shite anyway.

There's not really a great deal left for them to do really. They've done all the exploring episodes they can do, they've had a war and human catastrophes etc. It's run its course!

The films have almost always been shite anyway, I can think of two I'd say were genuinely quality movies (Wrath of Khan and First Contact).

The Wrath of Khan was abysmal.

Thought the first one was good, the Search for Spock was OK, First Contact was good, The time travel one was also good and I liked Nemesis.

The others were all OK - except the Wrath of Khan. How can you like that when the fella playing the title role clearly has part of a male shop dummy strapped to his chest?

Spot on easily the best feature length piece be it a film or a 2 part episode. The Borg were completely over done from then it was like 'oh we're short of a story.....I  know lets bring back the Borg'

I always wished that they would make a new series called Starfleet Command and make it like West Wing meets Star Trek.
