When we drew 1-1 at Old trafford in 1991 there is a weird line from Brian Moore

April 19th

1966 - We beat Celtic 2-0 at Anfield to reach the European Cup Winners’ Cup Final, in only our second season in European competition, with the goals coming from Tommy Smith and Geoff Strong and each side striking the bar. Strong’s headed goal came despite him having damaged a knee cartilage, with the BBC’s Kenneth Wolstenholme commentating, “the cripple has scored”. Celtic still claim that they had a late Bobby Lennox goal incorrectly disallowed for offside, which would have taken them through to the Final at Hampden Park against Borussia Dortmund.

1969 We won 4-0 at Anfield , with Bobby Graham netting twice against Ipswich Town and Peter Thompson and Ian St. John also on the scoresheet.

1971 - We won 2-0 at Manchester United , thanks to Steve Heighway and a Paul Edwards own goal.

1975 - We played at Middlesbrough , going down 1-0 in another top-flight meeting.

1976 – We won 3-0 at Manchester City, thanks to a Steve Heighway goal and David Fairclough brace.

1980 - We played our third consecutive game against Arsenal, with Kenny Dalglish netting in a 1-1 First Division draw at Anfield, with Brian Talbot on target for the Gunners with one of his six strikes past us. This followed the first two of our four FA Cup Semi-final encounters that season.

1982 - We took part in a “Special Centenary Friendly”, drawing 1-1 with Northern Irish side Glentoran at The Oval, with Mark Lawrenson on the scoresheet.

1986 - We won 2-1 at West Bromwich Albion, with Craig Madden’s goal being the Baggies’ last strike against the reds until April 2011. Goals from the old one-two of Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush kept us on course for the double.

1997 - Manchester United beat us at Anfield, with Gary Pallister netting twice for the visitors, and Andy Cole also on target with one of his eleven goals against the reds. John Barnes bagged our consolation, his 108th and final reds goal.

1998 – Michael Owen netted as we drew 1-1 at Coventry City with Dion Dublin nabbing one of his seven goals against the reds.

2001 - We became only the second team ever to stop Barcelona from scoring in both legs of a European tie, winning our UEFA Cup second leg at Anfield 1-0. Gary McAllister, who scored from the spot past future reds keeper Pepe Reina after Patrick Kluivert’s unnecessary handball, made his 700th club appearance in this game. Sander Westerveld later had Kopite hearts in mouths when he missed a back-pass that just rolled past his post.

2003 - Michael Owen netted in his sixth consecutive League match for the first time in his career, which was his first ever derby goal. Danny Murphy struck the winner after David Unsworth’s equaliser as we won 2-1. Everton had both David Weir and Gary Naysmith sent off.

2008 - Sami Hyypiä played his 300th League game as we won 2-0 at Fulham, thanks to goals from Jermaine Pennant and Peter Crouch, as we moved to within a single point of Champions League qualification ahead of our Semi-final first leg of that campaign’s tournament. Pennant’s strike was our 400th away goal in the Premiership and his third and final reds goal.

2010 - We beat West Ham United 3-0 at Anfield, with ex-Hammer Yossi Benayoun putting us in front with his stomach from a Steven Gerrard free-kick, before David N’Gog doubled our lead inside the opening half hour. Out final strike came from a Sotirios Kyrgiakos toe-poke that rebounded off the post and keeper Robert Green before crossing the line.

2015 - Philippe Coutinho put us ahead in our FA Cup Semi-final against Aston Villa, but future red Christian Benteke bagged one of his seven goals past us to date before the break. Fabian Delph scored the winner as the reds disappointed on the big stage, although Mario Balotelli had a goal wrongly ruled out for offside.

2021 – We were held 1-1 behind closed doors at Leeds United despite Sadio Mané giving us the lead in the first game played since the controversial announcement of a proposed new European Super League. Diego Llorente headed in a late leveller.

2022 – We beat Manchester United 4-0 at Anfield, having already trounced them 5-0 at Old Trafford earlier in the season. Luis Díaz and Mohamed Salah both struck before the break, with Sadio Mané on target before Salah added the fourth.

April 20th

1977 - We reached our first European Cup Final after beating Zürich 3-0 at Anfield in the second leg of our Semi-final, with Jimmy Case netting a brace and Kevin Keegan grabbing the other, to go through 6-1 on aggregate. Keegan said afterwards, “The only reason I have stayed here is to get to the European Cup Final, and now I’ve done that.”

1985 – Gary Gillespie grabbed the first of his sixteen reds goals as we beat Newcastle United 3-1 at Anfield, with John Wark and Paul Walsh also on the scoresheet.

1987 - Bruce Grobbelaar broke his elbow as we lost 1-0 at Manchester United, with Peter Davenport bagging the late winner.

1988 - We faced Norwich City , holding them to a goalless draw at Carrow Road as they became the first team against whom we had twice drawn a blank in the League that season, so holding off our League title celebrations for another three days.

1991 - Graeme Souness got off to a good start as Manager as we beat Norwich City 3-0 at Anfield in his first match in charge. The goals came from John Barnes, Ray Houghton and Ian Rush.

1992 – We were thumped 4-0 at Arsenal. Ian Wright struck the first two of his seven goals against the reds, with David Hillier and Anders Limpar also on target.

2002 - We beat Derby County 2-0 at Anfield, with double goalscorer Michael Owen being presented with the Ballon d’Or trophy for European Football of the Year before the match. A minute’s silence was also observed before kick-off, in memory of the bereaved and survivors of the Hillsborough disaster. Steven Gerrard made his hundredth League appearance in this game.

2005 - Milan Baroš played his hundredth reds game as we won 2-1 at Portsmouth in a League match, with Fernando Morientes scoring before Diomansy Kamara equalised, with Luis García bagging the winner.

2014 – We secured a joint club record eleventh consecutive League win when we won 3-2 at Norwich City, also a joint club record sixth straight away League victory. This was also a joint club record 25th consecutive top-flight League game in which we had netted. Raheem Sterling and Luis Suárez struck early on as the Uruguayan became the first red to score thirty League goals in a season since Ian Rush in 1987, with Gary Hooper pulling a goal back after the break. Sterling netted again with Robert Snodgrass heading in as we hung on for victory. This left the reds needing just seven points from the last three games to claim the title.

2016 – Daniel Sturridge reached a half century of reds goals as we thumped Everton 4-0 at Anfield. Divock Origi and Mamadou Sakho, in his final reds game, both headed in shortly before the break before Ramiro Funes Mori was dismissed and then Sturridge struck. The scoring was rounded out by Philippe Coutinho.

1962 - We secured the Second Division title. A brace from winger Kevin Lewis gave us a 2-0 home win over Southampton, in what was Bill Shankly’s hundredth League game in charge. We had been outside the top flight for eight seasons.

1973 - We lost 2-1 at Newcastle United thanks to a John Tudor brace, two of his five goals against the reds, when future Toon star Kevin Keegan bagged our consolation.

1976 - Keeper Ray Clemence bagged a hat-trick that included two penalties as we lost 6-5 in a testimonial for Ray Mathias played at Tranmere Rovers. David Fairclough and Ray Kennedy also struck.

1979 – Kenny Dalglish bagged the only goal after just five minutes as we beat Bristol City at home.

1984 – We beat West Bromwich Albion 3-0 at Anfield . Ken McNaught deflected an Ian Rush shot past his own keeper before Graeme Souness struck his 55th and final goal for the club, with Kenny Dalglish also on target, all inside the opening half an hour.

1990 - We beat Chelsea 4-1 at Anfield, with goals from Ronnie Rosenthal, Ian Rush and a Steve Nicol brace, with Kerry Dixon bagging a late consolation, one of his seven goals past us. Alan Hansen played his 620th and final reds game.

1993 – John Barnes struck with Mark Walters converting a penalty as we beat Leeds United 2-0 at Anfield.

1999 – Keeper David James made his 277th and last reds appearance in our 1-0 home defeat by Leicester City, with ex-Evertonian Ian Marshall netting the last-minute winner.

2000 - We were held to a goalless draw at Goodison, with referee Graham Poll ruling out a last-minute Don Hutchison winner for the Blues.

2003 - Two late, late goals snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat at home to Charlton Athletic. Shaun Bartlett had put the Addicks ahead after Djimi Traoré’s slip. However, Sami Hyypiä and Steven Gerrard scored inside the last five minutes to keep us on course for the Champions League, although we fell at the final hurdle.

2006 - We won the FA Youth Cup for the second time in our history, losing the second leg 2-0 to Manchester City at the City of Manchester Stadium, but triumphing 3-2 on aggregate. Future reds forward Daniel Sturridge struck both the goals.

2007 - Pepe Reina made his hundredth reds appearance with John Arne Riise playing his 300th game as we beat Wigan Athletic 2-0 at Anfield to guarantee a top-four finish in the League that season. Dirk Kuyt struck both our goals.

2013 – We drew 2-2 with Chelsea at Anfield, with Oscar opening the scoring for the visitors before the break with a header from a corner. Daniel Sturridge equalised after having already hit the post since coming off the bench at half time. Eden Hazard converted a penalty after Luis Suárez handballed in the area, one of his seven goals past us to date. Suárez then headed in a stoppage-time equaliser. However, headlines were dominated by Suárez biting Branislav Ivanović’s arm as they challenged for a ball in the area, an offence for which he was later banned for ten matches.

2018 – We drew 2-2 at West Bromwich Albion, with Danny Ings handing us an early lead, his fourth and last goal for the club. Mohamed Salah doubled the reds’ advantage with just over ten minutes left, but Jake Livermore struck for the already relegated side, before Salomón Rondón headed in a late equaliser.

2019 – We won 2-0 at Cardiff City with Gini Wijnaldum opening the scoring after a goalless first half. James Milner converted a late penalty to send us back to the top of the table.

Cardiff 2019 was Easter Sunday and roasting hit. Clever set piece routine for Gini’s goal.

1972 – John Toshack struck twice as we beat Ipswich Town 2-0 at home as Tommy Smith made his 300th League appearance for the reds.

1978 – We bet Norwich City 3-0 at Anfield . John Ryan put through his own net with David Fairclough on target either side of half time.

1981 - Howard Gayle came on as a substitute for the injured Kenny Dalglish after just nine minutes and ran the Bayern München defence ragged, before later himself being substituted by Jimmy Case. We held the German champions to a 1-1 draw in the Olympic Stadium, with Ray Kennedy putting us in front with just seven minutes left before Karl-Heinz Rummenigge equalised, to make it through to our third European Cup Final in five years, on away goals after a goalless first meeting. Boss Bob Paisley had called this “our biggest test since Rome”, prior to the game.

1992 – Ian Rush netted our equaliser as we drew 1-1 at Nottingham Forest after Teddy Sheringham had scored the first of his seven goals past us.

2001 – We beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 at Anfield with Emile Heskey opening the scoring. Willem Korsten equalised before the break with Patrik Berger putting us ahead from the spot with Robbie Fowler also on the scoresheet.

2006 - We beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford in the FA Cup Semi-final. John Arne Riise’s free-kick opened the scoring before Luis García extended our lead early in the second half with a sublime volley. Didier Drogba’s header, one of his eleven goals past us, ensured a nervous last twenty minutes, but future red Joe Cole blazed over with the Blues’ only real chance of note as we hung on to reach our thirteenth FA Cup Final.

2008 – We took the lead in the first leg of our Champions League Semi-final against Chelsea shortly before half-time through Dirk Kuyt, before failing to take a number of other good chances. We suffered a sucker punch in the final seconds of time added on when John Arne Riise headed into his own net. This was the first time we had faced the same team in European competition in four consecutive seasons.

2010 – We suffered European disappointment, losing 1-0 in the first leg of our UEFA Europa League Semi-final at Club Atlético de Madrid, with the reds having to make the long journey to Spain by train following volcanic eruptions over Iceland causing all flights to be grounded. Diego Forlán gave the home side an early lead with one of his four strikes past the reds, with Yossi Benayoun having an equaliser wrongly ruled out for offside.

2012 – Peter Odemwingie struck the only goal of the game as West Brom won at Anfield for the first time in exactly 45 years, under the management of ex-reds boss Roy Hodgson. Jordan Henderson and Dirk Kuyt both struck the woodwork before we fell behind.

2023 – Diogo Jota bagged a brace at Anfield, but relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest twice levelled through ex-red Neco Williams and Morgan Gibbs-White. Mohamed Salah then struck as we won 3-2.

1981 - too young to remember but a very famous game with Howard Gayle, the pre match instructions for how Bayern fans could get to the final and a great away performance.

1992 - don’t remember! Again a bit of a nothing game as we linked to the end of the season with only the cup final to look forward to.

2001- a few days after the famous Barca win (I must have missed that post! Got up at about 4am in Airlie Beach, Australia to watch it and everywhere was deserted).

2006 - a great win against a very strong Chelsea side who cruised to the title barely conceding or losing. I think they made a few changes and I remember Kewell running them ragged, one of his best games for us. Amazing goal from Garcia. Took it so calmly and made a very small chance look quite simple.

2008 - the manner and timing of that own goal felt like a hammer blow. We did pretty well in the second leg and took it to extra time but holding on for the win here could have made all the difference.

2010 - we were pretty hard done by in this tie. Had to get the train there and not surprisingly started slowly. Think their goal came early. Played really well in the second leg but done by away goals in extra time when 2-0 up on the night. Exactly the same happened in 2020 too. Felt like a real end of an era with all the speculation about Rafa’s future. Remember feeling really low after this one.

2012 - another season ending limply. I’d been at a wedding and then flew to Belfast where my family were on this day. Pretty sure the same day United and Everton had that mad 4-4 draw which opened the door for City to win the league. Felt funny at the time!

2023 - made a meal of what should have been routine but got there in the end.

1969 – Larry Lloyd joined from hometown club Bristol Rovers for a fee of £50,000. He is one of a rare breed to leave Anfield in his prime, and go on to better things – helping Nottingham Forest to two European Cups, one League title, League Cup and FA Charity Shield. He had won League and UEFA Cup medals, appearing 218 times and notching five times. He was sold to Coventry City for £240,000 in August 1974.

1973 – Our 2-0 Anfield defeat of Leeds United on Easter Monday combined with Arsenal dropping a point at Southampton meant that only a series of freak results could prevent the reds from claiming the title with just one of our League games remaining, although other sides had games in hand. Peter Lorimer missed an open goal in the first half, but Peter Cormack and Kevin Keegan netted after the break. The Leeds players lined up at full time to applaud Shankly’s side from the pitch.

1977 - We drew 2-2 with Everton in our FA Cup Semi-final encounter at Maine Road, with Terry McDermott and Jimmy Case twice putting us in front, before levellers from Duncan McKenzie and Bruce Rioch. Terry Mac’s goal was later named as the BBC’s Goal of the Season, while Evertonians still protest over Clive Thomas disallowing Bryan Hamilton’s last-gasp ‘winner’. We won the replay at the same venue four days later, although we lost the Final at Wembley to Manchester United

1980 - We won at Stoke City in a First Division fixture postponed from New Year’s Day, with the two David’s, Johnson and Fairclough, handing us a 2-0 win.

1983 – We edged closer to the championship despite losing 2-0 at home to Norwich City, as they became the first side to take all six points off us after the introduction of three points for a win. Mark Lawrenson put through his own net before Martin O’Neill doubled the visitors’ lead from distance. Bob Paisley had received his 21st Bell’s managerial award prior to kick-off.

1988 - We secured our seventeenth League title with four more games remaining, as a curling Peter Beardsley strike was enough to defeat Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. This was our ninth championship in the space of thirteen years.

1991 - We beat Crystal Palace 3-0 at Anfield. Ian Rush scored his 300th competitive club goal in 532 games for Chester, Juventus and Liverpool, while John Barnes also struck before a late own goal from Eddie McGoldrick.

1992 - Robbie Fowler signed as a professional. The ‘Toxteth terror’ went on to bag 171 goals in 330 reds games in his first spell with the club, gaining UEFA Cup, FA Cup and two League Cup winners’ medals during his reds career, and struck a further twelve times in 39 games second time around to become our fifth top all-time goalscorer, before moving on to Cardiff City in July 2007.

1994 – We won 2-1 at West Ham United despite Martin Allen giving the Hammers a first-minute lead. Robbie Fowler equalised with Ian Rush bagging a late winner.

2005 - John Welsh played his tenth and final reds game as we suffered yet another away League defeat, 1-0 at Selhurst Park, courtesy of an Andy Johnson strike.

2011 – Maxi Rodríguez bagged a treble as we thumped Birmingham City 5-0 at Anfield, with Dirk Kuyt netting for the seventh time in nine games and Joe Cole adding a late fifth.

2016 – Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana struck inside half an hour against Newcastle United but we were pegged back after the break by Pap iss Cissé and Jack Colback to draw 2-2 with Rafael Benítez’s Newcastle side.

2017 - Crystal Palace won at Anfield for the third consecutive season, despite Phillipe Coutinho giving us the lead. Ex-red Christian Benteke bagged a brace, the most recent of his seven goals past us to date.

1988 I remember. I’d been going to a few games that season for the first time but wasn’t allowed to go to this one. Felt like the title had been done and dusted for a while.

2005 I was on a stag do. We played the likes of Welsh and maybe Potter. Think we had the first leg of the Chelsea semi the following midweek so rested some key players.

2011 - still on the Easter fixtures! Maxi’s purple patch was great, got a hat trick at Fulham too. We looked great under a Kenny at the end of that season with Suarez, Maxi, Kuyt all linking really well.

2016 - we were two up and cruising early and somehow got pegged back. Think it was a Saturday game so didn’t even have UEA distractions but we were just very up and down that season. Did the same to Sunderland at home too.

2017 - for a long time this was our most recent home defeat. Went on a big underarms run after this until the Covid season. End of season wobble but we steadies ourselves to get all important top four on the final day.

2001- Nerves were gone watching that.

2003- Belter from Danny Murphy, apparently he was abused by LFC fans during a match not long after, he retorted "bet you didnt say that in Goodison"

2015- We were absolutely horrific that day, constantly changing formation all match

2021- Murder over the super league prior to that, really didnt feel up for that game at all as a result

2022- Fantastic night, during a very exciting run in

1988 - We faced Norwich City , holding them to a goalless draw at Carrow Road as they became the first team against whom we had twice drawn a blank in the League that season, so holding off our League title celebrations for another three days.

1991 - Graeme Souness got off to a good start as Manager as we beat Norwich City 3-0 at Anfield in his first match in charge. The goals came from John Barnes, Ray Houghton and Ian Rush.

1992 – We were thumped 4-0 at Arsenal. Ian Wright struck the first two of his seven goals against the reds, with David Hillier and Anders Limpar also on target.

2002 - We beat Derby County 2-0 at Anfield, with double goalscorer Michael Owen being presented with the Ballon d’Or trophy for European Football of the Year before the match. A minute’s silence was also observed before kick-off, in memory of the bereaved and survivors of the Hillsborough disaster. Steven Gerrard made his hundredth League appearance in this game.

2014 – We secured a joint club record eleventh consecutive League win when we won 3-2 at Norwich City, also a joint club record sixth straight away League victory. This was also a joint club record 25th consecutive top-flight League game in which we had netted. Raheem Sterling and Luis Suárez struck early on as the Uruguayan became the first red to score thirty League goals in a season since Ian Rush in 1987, with Gary Hooper pulling a goal back after the break. Sterling netted again with Robert Snodgrass heading in as we hung on for victory. This left the reds needing just seven points from the last three games to claim the title.

2016 – Daniel Sturridge reached a half century of reds goals as we thumped Everton 4-0 at Anfield. Divock Origi and Mamadou Sakho, in his final reds game, both headed in shortly before the break before Ramiro Funes Mori was dismissed and then Sturridge struck. The scoring was rounded out by Philippe Coutinho.

1988- a win and we won the title, but it was academic, unusually Grobellaar wore a white shirt

1991- Pretty good start, seemed like we would carry on the many years of trophy wins but it wasnt to happen

1992- An easter monday game, Anders Limpar scored from about 45 yards lobbing Hooper. We werent sure of the score, my brother in law was listening in his car on the way to us. A Man united fan. Took great pleasure in telling us Arsenal were 4 up, however his face dropped when word came through Forest had beaten United 2-1 at old trafford, Leeds took over top spot later that day with a win over Coventry

2002- I think we went top of the league but Arsenal had a game or two in hand

2014- Certainly seemed like the title was on

2016- Should have won 12-0, Simon Mignolet had so little to do the Echo refused to give him a match rating. Funes Mori was sent off and celebrated as he had really done Divock Origi good and proper. Lousy carry on

1990 - We beat Chelsea 4-1 at Anfield, with goals from Ronnie Rosenthal, Ian Rush and a Steve Nicol brace, with Kerry Dixon bagging a late consolation, one of his seven goals past us. Alan Hansen played his 620th and final reds game.

1993 – John Barnes struck with Mark Walters converting a penalty as we beat Leeds United 2-0 at Anfield.

1999 – Keeper David James made his 277th and last reds appearance in our 1-0 home defeat by Leicester City, with ex-Evertonian Ian Marshall netting the last-minute winner.

2000 - We were held to a goalless draw at Goodison, with referee Graham Poll ruling out a last-minute Don Hutchison winner for the Blues.

2013 – We drew 2-2 with Chelsea at Anfield, with Oscar opening the scoring for the visitors before the break with a header from a corner. Daniel Sturridge equalised after having already hit the post since coming off the bench at half time. Eden Hazard converted a penalty after Luis Suárez handballed in the area, one of his seven goals past us to date. Suárez then headed in a stoppage-time equaliser. However, headlines were dominated by Suárez biting Branislav Ivanović’s arm as they challenged for a ball in the area, an offence for which he was later banned for ten matches.

2018 – We drew 2-2 at West Bromwich Albion, with Danny Ings handing us an early lead, his fourth and last goal for the club. Mohamed Salah doubled the reds’ advantage with just over ten minutes left, but Jake Livermore struck for the already relegated side, before Salomón Rondón headed in a late equaliser.

2019 – We won 2-0 at Cardiff City with Gini Wijnaldum opening the scoring after a goalless first half. James Milner converted a late penalty to send us back to the top of the table.

1990- Some nice well worked goals in this game as we closed in on number 18

1993- A decent end of season run, was mad how close that table was. We ended up 6th, yet just 10 points off 20th and relegation. In March we were something like 15th and relegation was possible. On the flip side Ipswich were going for the title and up in 4th in February or so, they ended up 17th, goes to show this season how a few decent results propelled you up the table

1999- As has been said in recent weeks, an absolutely depressing night, on the same night Manchester United closed in on a treble by coming from two goals down to beat Juventus 3-2 on the night and 4-3 on aggregate and qualify for the champions league final, Roy Keane had an absolute stormer but would miss the final as he picked up a yellow card.

2000- Absolutely ridiculous decision, either give the goal or blow up before the free kick. A good friday game. For the record Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld was taking a free which he clumsily belted against Everton player (and former Liverpool player ) Don Hutchinson, the ball rebounded over the stranded Dutch Keeper but as it rolled into the empty net the referee blew for full time.

2013- Famous match where Luis Suarez bit Branislav Ivanovic, he got away with it and scored a very late equaliser against a chelsea side managed by Rafa Benitez. Suarez would be banned for 10 games and didnt play again until late September, during which time Arsenal sensationally bid 40m plus 1 quid for him. It lead to Liverpool owner John Henry tweeting "what are they smoking". Suarez stayed on for another year and eventually left for Barcelona for a fee almost double what Arsenal offered.

2019- Just arrived home from a flight from Krakow, Gini scored a belter, think it was Easter Sunday, City did have a game in hand, the lead of the league changed about 200 times in the last few weeks

April 22nd

1981 - Howard Gayle came on as a substitute for the injured Kenny Dalglish after just nine minutes and ran the Bayern München defence ragged, before later himself being substituted by Jimmy Case. We held the German champions to a 1-1 draw in the Olympic Stadium, with Ray Kennedy putting us in front with just seven minutes left before Karl-Heinz Rummenigge equalised, to make it through to our third European Cup Final in five years, on away goals after a goalless first meeting. Boss Bob Paisley had called this “our biggest test since Rome”, prior to the game.

1992 – Ian Rush netted our equaliser as we drew 1-1 at Nottingham Forest after Teddy Sheringham had scored the first of his seven goals past us.

2006 - We beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford in the FA Cup Semi-final. John Arne Riise’s free-kick opened the scoring before Luis García extended our lead early in the second half with a sublime volley. Didier Drogba’s header, one of his eleven goals past us, ensured a nervous last twenty minutes, but future red Joe Cole blazed over with the Blues’ only real chance of note as we hung on to reach our thirteenth FA Cup Final.

2008 – We took the lead in the first leg of our Champions League Semi-final against Chelsea shortly before half-time through Dirk Kuyt, before failing to take a number of other good chances. We suffered a sucker punch in the final seconds of time added on when John Arne Riise headed into his own net. This was the first time we had faced the same team in European competition in four consecutive seasons.

2012 – Peter Odemwingie struck the only goal of the game as West Brom won at Anfield for the first time in exactly 45 years, under the management of ex-reds boss Roy Hodgson. Jordan Henderson and Dirk Kuyt both struck the woodwork before we fell behind.

2023 – Diogo Jota bagged a brace at Anfield, but relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest twice levelled through ex-red Neco Williams and Morgan Gibbs-White. Mohamed Salah then struck as we won 3-2.

1981- Bayern were so confident they had even printed travel itinerary in the programme for the final. We went through on away goals, in those days if a subbed was subbed it usually meant they were horrendously bad but that wasnt the case here, Howard Gayle had the night of his life after coming on for the injured Kenny Dalglish and ran Bayern ragged, he was subbed as Bayern were kicking lumps out of him, Howard was a bit of a hard bastard so Bob Paisley saw he was about to fight back and decided to sub him rather than risk a red card

1992- I was off school for the easter break,  a lovely leveller from Rush in one of our bogey grounds. Mike Hooper gave away the early penalty after a foul on Roy Keane and almost saved the spot kick but to be fair he had a pretty good game that night. facts that day
 
The world snooker championship was on in Sheffield, first year I remember watching it, we stayed up late to watch this on sportsnight, and had a feeling something special was happening when they showed frame 13, but it wasnt unlucky for Jimmy White pumped in a 147 break in his match with Tony Drago, only the second in crucible history. It was shown for days on end after.

Also Manchester United were chasing their first title in 25 years, now a point behind Leeds they had a game in hand at already relegated west ham, sensationally they lost 1-0, the title was slipping away

2006- Fantastic strike by Garcia, I remember Cisse came on and didnt try a leg, Benitez didnt look too happy.

2008- what a sickener, silly own goal, the fella had no right foot

2012- One of about 50 games that year dominated and didnt win, their goal too, was hit straight at Reina and still went in, his form really nosedived around this point

2023- Was day after my sister in laws wedding, a nice curer

April 23rd

1969 – Larry Lloyd joined from hometown club Bristol Rovers for a fee of £50,000. He is one of a rare breed to leave Anfield in his prime, and go on to better things – helping Nottingham Forest to two European Cups, one League title, League Cup and FA Charity Shield. He had won League and UEFA Cup medals, appearing 218 times and notching five times. He was sold to Coventry City for £240,000 in August 1974.

1977 - We drew 2-2 with Everton in our FA Cup Semi-final encounter at Maine Road, with Terry McDermott and Jimmy Case twice putting us in front, before levellers from Duncan McKenzie and Bruce Rioch. Terry Mac’s goal was later named as the BBC’s Goal of the Season, while Evertonians still protest over Clive Thomas disallowing Bryan Hamilton’s last-gasp ‘winner’. We won the replay at the same venue four days later, although we lost the Final at Wembley to Manchester United

1983 – We edged closer to the championship despite losing 2-0 at home to Norwich City, as they became the first side to take all six points off us after the introduction of three points for a win. Mark Lawrenson put through his own net before Martin O’Neill doubled the visitors’ lead from distance. Bob Paisley had received his 21st Bell’s managerial award prior to kick-off.

1988 - We secured our seventeenth League title with four more games remaining, as a curling Peter Beardsley strike was enough to defeat Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. This was our ninth championship in the space of thirteen years.

1991 - We beat Crystal Palace 3-0 at Anfield. Ian Rush scored his 300th competitive club goal in 532 games for Chester, Juventus and Liverpool, while John Barnes also struck before a late own goal from Eddie McGoldrick.


2011 – Maxi Rodríguez bagged a treble as we thumped Birmingham City 5-0 at Anfield, with Dirk Kuyt netting for the seventh time in nine games and Joe Cole adding a late fifth.

2016 – Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana struck inside half an hour against Newcastle United but we were pegged back after the break by Pap iss Cissé and Jack Colback to draw 2-2 with Rafael Benítez’s Newcastle side.

2017 - Crystal Palace won at Anfield for the third consecutive season, despite Phillipe Coutinho giving us the lead. Ex-red Christian Benteke bagged a brace, the most recent of his seven goals past us to date.

 

1969- unfortunately Larry passed away recently

1977- Might have worked for us, but Clive Thomas was a right dick, controversially disallowed a legit goal, older Evertonians still curse him

1983- A very strange end to the season, as we lost 5 and drew 2 of our last 7 but still won the title easily.

1988- A draw was all that was needed but a win over spurs brought home title number 17, party time. Posters of this were in my house for years including Steve McMahon pouring a can of budweiser over Peter Beardsley

1991- Fantastic goal by Ian Rush, sadly we remained 3 points behind Arsenal who beat QPR that night

2011- A fine sunny Saturday, we were in belting form and soon after Kenny Dalglish got a full time contract

2016- A crap result, earlier that day it was confirmed Mamadou Sakho would miss the rest of the season as the club decided to leave him out when word came through he had failed a drugs test, it transpired earlier in the season Sakho was using slimming pills which contained a certain substance, however his name was eventually cleared but as a result he missed the Europa league final and the european championships for France in the summer. Sakho never played for the club again, the following season his unprofessional carry on in pre season saw him sent home from a tour and he later stupidly vented his anger on social media for not playing more. Klopp had enough

2017- This would be our last league defeat at Anfield for over 3 years, until Burnley won 1-0 at Anfield in early 2021, sensationally that would begin a run of 6 straight home defeats (Man City, Brighton, Everton, Fulham and Chelsea, not in that order)
