SSC NAPOLI vs LIVERPOOL match tickets
« on: August 28, 2010, 12:33:07 pm »
hey everyone first time posting on here sorry for not searching first but

I cant believe after being a Liverpool supporter all my life that finally they are playing Napoli
I was born in England but all my mums family are in Naples, i want to go to this match so bad as it'll be my first ever European away game. Ive looked on lfc.tv but cant find any information out yet about just buying match tickets. Ive seen the section on Thomas Cook and booking through them but thats way more expensive then just an easy jet flight. Also whats all the terms and rules for buying a european match ticket you have to of been to ones previous haven't you?
have i got any chance of just buying tickets

thanx for all your help

only time will tell, its a big ground so a general sale might come about and a few last season went to general as well so you might, just might, be in with some luck but untill the full details get announced all i can do is 'speculate'

A mate suggested Yellow Pages, but I'm wondering if I can get away with the Thomson Local? Too thin? Advice appreciated from anyone who's experimented with commercial (or non-commercial) directories and blades.

Those going for a few days to this, I'd definately recommend visiting The Ruins of Pompeii. I went a few weeks ago when I was on my honeymoon and its extraordinary! Just breathtaking. I also went up Vesuvius which was amazing too! The trains are like 2 Euros and dead easy. It also stops right outside Pompeii!

Thats if you want  something to do other then drinking :)

how much would you like to know? lol

My cousins have told me if i want a ticket in Napoli end then you can only buy one with ID which i guess is to stop the Ultra's or hooligans. So hopefully the atmosphere wont be so hostile. The team and the history of the club is like Liverpol. Neapolitans consider themselves Neapolitans before they do Italian just like scousers.

The city itself is awesome i think its alot like Liverpool aswell. The main central tourist area is filled with beautiful buildings surrounding lovely squares and tiny little streets with arguably the best restaurants and boutique shops in Europe

The main square, the Naples Trafalgar Square if you like is Piazza Plebiscito that would probably be the best place for a meet up pre match. From there you got all the pubs and places to drink as well as transport to and from the game

How long does it take from the area of the main train station (Napoli centrale?) to the stadium on public transport? Relatively straightforward?

seems ok? in a car looks about 15/20mins, loads of metro's around the ground to boot.

could walk it in an hour?

Arriving just after 4pm on Wednesday. Right, sorted a hotel near the Duomo. Definitely doing Pompeii early doors on Thursday.

Right, found a football centre up on the hill with a decent-looking 11-a-side astro. Anyone around Wednesday evening and fancy a game? This is very unlikely to come off but could give it a go.

We are getting a flight from Liverpool to Trapani (in Sicily) on the Tuesday morning, then having a day in Sicily before a night sleeper train to Napoli, arriving on Wednesday morning, Pompei and Vesuvius on the Wednesday with the game on the Thursday, before a train to Rome for four days of late summer sunshine and history, (and Lazio v Catania) and finally a train to Pisa on Tuesday with a flight back to Liverpool in the evening.  Should be a laugh.

Staying in the Pizza Bellini- undecided whether to do the Pompei trip or to take the Hydrofoil across to Capri
Rough Guide recommends just getting the regular ferry - takes 40 mins longer but you get much better views, can go on deck, etc.

People use Thomas Crook when they have no leave to spare, Ive never been able to find any other way of doing a OOC European away on only 1 day off work.

Sure - I've had to go with them a few times when I've only had a day off and been back at work the next morning so they do have their uses  . At the end of the day it isn't cheap to charter a plane for a one-off trip so I can understand why it is more than the budget airlines - it's just sometimes the differences seem totally out of proprtion.

i can honestly say it is possible if you get your timings right and also if we get somone close to our shores, if you do the daily 9-5 grind its probably out of the window and it'll be two days everytime but i work shifts so can accomodate if need be and only get 6 days holiday a year as the rest are set.

I also work shifts, I get 10 days flexible leave per year and I work weekends, I have yet to find a way of getting back for a 07.00 day shift without using TC, The 3 group games have fallen very well for me this season though and I only need 1 day off.

you get a better basic than me, do you have to work every weekend? this ones costing me two days as i'm on afternoons, sometimes works out ok as well and i can come back on a 6am flight and get into work for 1400 no problem, but it doesn't always work in my favour :D
