Mine arrived today. They look great but they’re massive. I’m an 8.5 usually but I would be better with an 8 or maybe even a 7.5 in these. The only size left is a 6 ffs.

Not quite a post my trainers post, but still a bit relevant to trainer culture.

We visited Olbia Basilica in Sardinia the other day and there was a big wedding on. A really flash affair it was too. Anyway, this guy comes out of the church in usual Italian sharp-suited fashion ... but wearing white Adidas Gazelle.

Not long after loads more men and lads came out in impeccable suits and shirts, but they were all wearing Adidas, Nike or other top brand trainers instead of shoes. I've never seen that anywhere else before.

No Lonsdales, of course.   8)

Didn't bother with the Zurich. Funny feeling they may go on sale like the Vienna. First city trainer I've not bought. The sl80 looks fab though.

Quote
Rare Adidas trainers that were sold for charity are appearing online being re-sold for tens of thousands of pounds.

The limited-edition Blackburn Spezials were designed by Lancashire-born Gary Aspden, one of Adidas' top stylists.

200 pairs were sold at an exhibition on Friday for £100 each, with the proceeds going to a homeless shelter - Nightsafe in Blackburn.

But some of the shoes are now on eBay - and it's not clear if any of the money from re-sales will be given to charity.

Some bids for the trainers are around the £800 mark, but others are over £40,000.

Gary, who has over 2,000 pairs of trainers himself, says "For me, Adidas trainers are almost the fabric of northern culture now."

I have no problem with that whatsoever. The people who bought them did so honestly, and now that they own the shoes, surely it's up to them what they do with them.

The error here surely lies with the designer who decides to sell them for £100 in the first place when, by the he sounds of it, he could have easily got £500 a pair for them.

Incidentally, I don't have a personal stake in the discussion.

Its absolute shithouse behaviour. Literally no different to buying a ticket for Liverpool v Chelsea at the end of the season only to tout it to the highest bidder.

Totally disagree, and the comparison falls down on so many levels, not least legality.

What's different about it?

I buy a pair of trainers a few hundred other people want for cost price. I then put them up for sale for 10 times the price?

I buy a pair of tickets a few hundred other people want for cost price. I then put them up for sale for 10 times the price?

No difference whatsoever. Scumbag behaviour.

Also, it being legal doesn't make it ok. You're still ripping someone off in both scenarios.

Same with everything with life, mini fucking tory c*nts everywhere who want to make a fast buck at the expense of the average Joe.

Pete Wylylie got it right - Capital of culture or the culture of capital.

We're all still living in the loads a' money mentality of getting rich 80's. Dress like you're in the 80's and act like it, it seems.

And the trabs look shite, but hey, its your money spend it how you wish, but have the decency to not try to bother and take some other desperately bereft of any sense of taste gullable c*nts money from them at the very least.

Next pair designed by the wool should be Adidas Socialist. 10,000 produced for the homeless and those living on the poverty line, no charge and anyone who's found selling them to make profit, gets lined up and shot and made to wear tragic clobber from yesteryear, donated by the heart foundation.

So if some idiot wants to spend 500 quid on a pair of trainers I have, should I not sell them to him?

No one puts a gun to anyones head to buy a match ticket for 10 times face value, but apparently the sellers are scum?

If someone walked up to you in the street while you are wearing them and offered you £500 for them, it's a totally different situation to buying them with the intention of selling them for a higher price. That's what I have an issue with. Buying them to rip people off.

No difference between a ticket to a match and a pair of shoes?

I suppose it's possible to argue that there is a community of trainee wearers, but it just does not seem the same thing. Ripping someone off for a match ticket doesn't seem the same to me as ripping off someone willing to pay that ridiculous price for a pair of shoes they'll probably never wear.

Do trainee supporter groups sing songs about their favorite laces?

I tried for SL80s last night. Had them in my basket (on Consortium) but then it wouldn't let me check out. Disappointing, but them's the breaks.

Am I alone in really liking the Winterhills? Can't really justify the £160 tight now, but I think they look great.

160 is way too steep. I got a pair of ECCO with yak leather and full goretex for way less than that. Like they are my snow shoes and hiking shoes and basically rough terrain and take a bashing. I could never spend that on Adidas and hack them.
