With Sturridge needing to work his way back to fitness, and Benteke out for a couple of weeks at least, he'll be our main striker for the next little while, and that doesn't worry me in the slightest - which says a lot.

The rest of the team however ...

I see him as a Fairclough, a regular and reliable contributor from the bench and in limited starts, I said when he signed that peoples perceptions of him would change, as the response to him signing was rather lukewarm, but he's scoring goals when he gets the starts, it's hard to argue with that to be fair to him, I fancy him to get about 10-13 goals this season, which would be a very fair contribution.

Yes he is but last night he was one of the stand out performers for us (I know that`s not saying much), one of the few who`s been showing some  heart and fight recently.

Comments like this don`t help.

Was fair superior to Origi when playing centrally last night.

Our only striker thus far this year that looks to run in behind the defence.  He's always on the shoulder of the CB pointing and asking
for the ball to be played early.  Made so many runs yesterday that were either ignored or our player didn't have his head up to see the pass.

At times he was outnumbered 4 to 1 in the box but was fighting for eveything... Must have been special for the lad to hear his name sung by the Kop.

Keep it up Danny. Maybe score a couple against Villa.

Proving me completely wrong so far. He's a better footballer than I thought, and his attitude is spot on. Lovely.
Balotelli, Falcao, Cavani...

I'll be shocked if it's anyone other Etoo. Etoo or no-one. Simples.

In fact, I'll do you all a favor and ban myself from the January transfer window forum if we get anyone other than Etoo.

Although he faded a little as the game went on, he was one of the very few positives to come from last night. A real fighter and worker, and he showed some really good touches too (in particular one where he cushioned a ball into the path of Origi for a shot in the box). Good on him.

Ings should play ahead of Benteke IMO. Not the best player, but he works and hard and makes things happen because of it.

Haha, didn't intend it as a insult in any way :) Im just really surprised at how good he is (but I don't think he will ever surpass Benteke/Sturridge in the pecking order)

I don't know mate, at this rate, at the very least he will be on a par with them. If he can consistently find the net - as there is no denying his effort and willingness - then it may well DS and CB who are vying for a place with him!.....The third best choice striker ever! ;D

Does he not have currently better statistics than Sturridge? At top form both are not quite compatible yet, but currently I'd put him as our second striker. Soon to probably go third though, I agree.

He's the only bright spot we've had this season as far as I'm concerned.  He proved that again last night, when the chips are down and our backs are against the wall it is Danny Ings who so far has always looked the one who won't go down without a fight.  He has to start for us whether Benteke is fit or not, hopefully some of his spirit and fight rubs off on some of his team-mates.

Reminds me somewhat of Bellamy and Kuyt. If he can contribute like either of those cult heroes, then he'll be a good one.

I definitely think he will be a fans favourite certainly. Hard worker and he can certainly play too.

He looks like actually cares about the result. He might not be rated as a top striker, but give me a guy who plays for the shirt any day. He would have been the ideal third striker behind Suarez and Sturridge.

I've got a feeling that Origi is the real deal, from a couple of games I watched but mainly his interviews there seems to be something about him.

Why were people bashing his signing a while back?. From what ive read and see of interviews with him, seems to have the most passion & optimism of all our current players/signings. Pretty good player as well.
