help with downloading music?
« on: November 27, 2005, 10:50:39 AM »
I know I'm way behind but my middle age and broadband access have coincided underlined by almost complete technical incompetence.
I'd really like to be able to download some music onto my laptop and then burn myself off some discs to sooth my stressful journeys to and from work.
I'd also like to be able to do it for free...
Can anyone help?
If it matters which music I like it's jazz, and trad irish as a fav but a broad range beyond

thanks.

Mods don't like it - downloading music for free being illegal and all  ;)

http://allofmp3.com is what I use.

You do have to pay, but it's like £6 for 80 songs or something stupid like that. I think it's about 40p for an album - and yes it's legal.

If you want to download actual albums instead of singles then use bit torrent.
Wake up, will ya pal? If you're not inside, you're outside, OK? And I'm not talking a $400,000 a year working Wall Street stiff flying first class and being comfortable, I'm talking about liquid. before you start downloading from limewrire or other p2p sites, i would recomend installing an IP blocker. PeerGuardian2 from http://phoenixlabs.org/ is a good one.

It blocks all known anti-p2p sites, and updates daily. Best to just launch it before you download, im amazed at the amount of dodgy addresses it blocks
