Thought I'd bump this rather than start a new topic.
My laptop suddenly decided to die on Saturday. All I used it for really is FM and very occassional internet browsing (use my Iphone for that mainly). FM has very, very recently updated but I can't imagine that'd be a contributory factor.
Anyway, when I go to boot it up the screen stays black. All the LEDs come on and the fan starts going, as well as the disc drive reading the disc. But the screen never changes from black. I've googled it and tried a couple of the solutions, like removing the battery and adaptor and holding the power button for a minute, but they don't work.
Its a Toshiba Equium with a big screen (dunno the model). Its 7 years old and could easily have died from old age. I need a new one anyway but hardly a priority, and I can just bung FM on my gfs laptop if I really feel the urge.
Just wondering if anyone knows what could be wrong with it? It hasn't taken any bumps or anything. I can't be arsed paying someone upwards of fifty quid just to be able to play FM for 9 months before I get a new'un, but I don't wanna chuck it in the bin if its an easy fix...
