dictaphone question

(1/1)

quincyg:
my step-daughter has a dictaphone full size cassette tape recorded at double speed. does anyone know how she can transfer it to normal speed. she doesn't have a dictaphone and cannot get hold of the person who recorded it.
I've had a shufty on the net , but haven't found anything yet. any suggestions?
I may live to regret that question on here, but here goes.

Thought this was going to be the old joke for a minute then  ;)

Barney_Rubble:

Quincy there's THIS freeware audio recorder/editor, called Audacity, which you could use.

If you can get the signal from the Cassette player to the Soundcard's Line In and record the tape, you could then change the pitch of the recording down (an octave, 12 semitones) to hear it at normal speed. If necessary you could use a microphone to record the cassette playing at a reasonable level.

quincyg:
thanks, I'll pass that on.
