Handheld GPS Systems
(1/1)
Bandy:
(I did a search for this and didn't find owt so...)
I'm thinking of getting a handheld GPS system that prefererrably has the following;
* Colour Screen
* Ability to work worldwide (With World maps)
And for around £200 (Maybe up to £400)
Has anyone ever used one/owned one and are there any recommendations?
Matt S:
you can get something called navicore on your phone now - works with nokia symbian handsets (6680 etc...) basicly a memory card which has all the maps etc.. on. you need ato carry the bluetooth reciever for it to work though, probably better suited for use in the car but it can be done.

Tom Tom mobile V5. Load it onto your phone, use a blurtooth grs antenae, and bobs your uncle. Accurate and easy. (And apparantly free ;))

Cheers Chaps :)
I'll look into those

I've got an O2 XDA II.
Tom Tom do a data card you stick in and then links to a matchbox size gps box.
Gives a superb GPS system - shows speed, direction, 3D maps and I have John Cleese doing the commentary.
All for about £275 - portable and doesn't need to be linked into the car.
As blert says above there are smartphone versions too.
