Right, done celebrating indoors, time to go flip cars'n'shit.

Seriously, I never -in my wildest dreams- thought this would happen. 19 years since the closest this team got (or I thought would ever get), and here we are.

The Los Angeles Kings - 2012 Stanley Cup Fucking Champions, no it still doesn't sound real, won't for some time I wager, doesn't matter what KTLA's showing...

Juve won after so many years, Heat/OKC will win one either first time or in a long while, Kings just won their first, records and curses falling left and right.....   come on lads, when's the Prem League dream going to come true ??.

Right, fuck this, I'm off !!

Hah, any season where the Devils end the hopes and dreams of the Flyers (1975!) and Rangers is a good one.

And the Liverpool from the Everton?

I mean, when you're at the start dealing with a metro area that has 9 teams for 4 sports, you get used to rooting for some and rooting against others and not getting tied quite so much to the city thing. Especially when the allegiance is to the suburban state, not the city.

The Giants and Devils and Nets all played in the same parking lot for almost all of my life. The Rags and Knicks have always been across the river.

Congratulations to LA, huge monkey off their back, finally getting that elusive Stanley Cup.

They have a great core and could well be in the best shape to turn this win into a long term success.

Haven't watched more that 20 minutes of postseason hockey this year, cause the game just seems a bit dull to me now (probably also cause the Leafs are fucking awful). But you have to love the NHL that an 8 seed can win the Cup.

Go on LA kings, Had money on them winning it 4-2 or 4-3, was looking sketchy when it was 3-0 up. Delighted.

Ta mate, and to all the well wishers. This team really has suffered for over 40 years with a loyal following that's rarely found in these parts, for a Hockey team.

Credit to Joyzee they refused to roll over, and I'll openly admit it may have been a different game/series were it not for that major in the 1st, that took the whole momentum out of their side.

No idea how I made it to work this morning. Parade is Thursday, I'll make my way again to Sunset, then onto Figuroa St, head over to LA Live    .....and then back in the UK Sunday.

Fuck it. I still pause and think what took place isn't real. Can't be, madness.

Anyway, meanwhile in Tronae (look away Canada Loves Anfield) :

I'll be on the Westside Thursay but might take a wee trip over to Downtown to see the parade. Maybe I'll jump on the bandwagon and get down to LALive to see some games next season too!

So frustrating. Wonder how the game goes if they call the penalty on Stoll before the major. Not to excuse the idiocy of Bernier. And the linesman setting a pick setting up the fourth goal. Christ.

They are fair points.  The Kings were the best team and deserved their win but Game 6 could have been very different.

Well done LA.  I like the way they have done things.  Although I struggle to hold any kind of happiness for Carter after the way he behaved at CBJ.  Seems to have been a prat and got rewarded for it.

Also annoyed that I won't be able to pick up Jonathan Quick in the fantasy league in the 2nd or 3rd rounds now as i have done for the last couple of years - the best kept secret in the league is out.

Well done LA.

Whilst I am excited about the draft and free agency, I can't help but wonder when we'll see live hockey again.  Let's start a sweepstake.  I'll say Nov 17 for the first regular season games.

I've got a place here in Holmby Hills mate, but I go back and forth working on projects in London (just fortunate to be here at this time when all this is happening at this minute).

I sometimes stop by a little place I have in Toronto too. Now there's a city that REALLY needs the cup !, somehow though I hope the constant piss taking of my Kings will at least lessen if not stop altogether when I'm there next time  ;D

Very nice! Am a few miles away from you in WeHo. Am at school on the Westside and rarely go anywhere east of highland.

Great stuff by the kings. Their support seems much more civilized that the Lakers/Dodgers crews.

LA really have the look of cup winners right now. And if you think about it, it was staring us in the eyes for a long time. Stellar goaltender, solid defense and the only thing missing which was scoring, got addressed at the trade deadline.

Yep. And the Oilers are drafting first, as usual. Will be interesting to see if any teams make trades to move up the draft.

$45.5 million over 7 years for Karlsson. Fucking hell!

He's a special talent though. I remember watching him a couple of seasons ago and knew he was destined for greatness. Might win the Norris as well. Superb player and so exciting to watch. The Sens have got the backbone of a great team there. In a few years time they will challenging again.

I can't believe we've got to wait ~3.5 months for hockey to get going again. There better not be a fucking work stoppage.

At least we've got the intrigue of draft day and upcoming free agency to distract us.

Karlsson wins the Norris.
Malkin wins tha Hart.
Lundqvist wins the Vezina.
Landeskog wins the Calder.

Can't argue with that. Although Quick had a great year too.

I'd have gone with Quick too. The Rangers do such a great job of minimizing quality scoring chances and block so many shots - it's more team defense that deserved an award than just Lundqvist himself.

Quick's numbers were better.

Quick was a central figure in landing the cup in LA for the first time ever. The guy was a on tear throughout the playoffs, played out of his skin, how he missed out is baffling, and I'd honestly think that had he done this for any other team.

He got rewarded for his playoff performances.

Vezina is for the regular season and it was tight between Lundqvist, Quick and Elliot. Any of those for me would have been a solid call.

So who do you guys want your team to draft (realistically)?

As the Habs sit in third and we need some offensive prospects, if he's still available at 3 I hope we go for Galchenyuk.

I don't think Elliot was nominated. I'm pretty sure it was Lundqvist, Quick, and Rinne. Elliot didn't really play enough games - only 40 or so I think. Had he played more, and kept his form then yeah.
