I remember reading a some place a while ago that one reason they were so desperate to get in bed with Tesco is that the shed was going out of date and before long, with new regs coming in, it wouldnt get a european safety certificate. They either need to sell shares in the club to investors, sell the club to someone who has money to spend or they have to raise cash the old fashion way; sell players, increase ticket prices/season ticket prices, improve their marketing and hospitality business, increase the number of supporters they have and also find a way to cut down on costs and to introduce cheaper players of  the same quality as the current first eleven.

The interesting thing for Everton is that their fans will accept a hell of a lot.

I have started a thread on the main board about constant employment of failures. WHat Everton have to have credit for is backing David Moyes, and giving him a chance.

Yeah, but then they win the world cup final, known to us as the derby, and he is a hero again.

What is weird is a few years back they were above us in the league and challenging for Europe consistently, like Villa. Now they are a run of the mill average side that could be relegated....gone back quite a bit while others have moved on

In fairness to them, they haven't had anything like the level of investment that the teams around them have had. Sunderland, Spurs, Villa, City have all spent big money over the last few years, Everton haven't.

The same can be said for us, hence our demise over the past 20 months.

Yes, but for us we now have the chance to move back, though i think we are a while off yet. They currently dont, and have moved backwards. Rafa did quite well as sustaining us, especially when you compare with Roy.

I would agree, but they are starting to look like a team who have lost the fight.

They have already lost Pienaar and it looks certain they will have to sell a few in the summer, bringing in bargains, maybe just maybe a lot of them have realised they are fighting a losing battle.

Their biggest danger is when and not if Gollum fucks off.
I cant see any other manager for their level do as good a job as he has.
He's not the best in the World by any means, but he seemed to have had a good spirit there that has now gone missing of late.

Moyes body language yesterday said more about his feelings towards the team than anything they had done on the pitch. What have they got to be optimistic about? The sole thing they have had for the past 3 yrs to keep them upbeat was the 2 wankers who owned us. Now they have to look a bit closer to home and it's slowly sinking in.

Fair point, but having watched that game the score could have been about 22 all, such was the shiteness of both teams defending.

Got to ask that question, where are the goals coming from for them. Yak gone (wages) Beckford (not good enough yet) Saha injured, don't know how long. Unless Neville starts to get forward......they could be onto a winner there

As I'ts been said, I think that there are shitter teams around and below them, so they won't go down.

The bigger problem for them though, is if they get any long term injuries(ie: out for 6weeks - to the end of the season) to key players like Cahill, Baines, Neville. etc. Because their squad is paper thin, and losing some of their mainstay first-teamers will impact on them greatly.

If that happens, I can see it being 1997 all over again........

To be fair to Moyes, I think he's done a decent job there, but he's taken them as far as he can.

Without any money to spend on players, Moyes is just treading water at best.

Without that investment, Everton, on the pitch, are just slowly going into terminal decline.


I think he's got the best out of meagre resourses. But even a magician only has SO many rabbits he can pull out of the hat.
