He was a great little player for them but its good business by Everton (for a change) to get £1m for him and also to get him off the wage bill.

Cahill wasn't terrible for them. Limited footballer but up until last year he regularly used to pop up with a goal or two. About what they would hope for.

Reported on BBC, didn't look into where it originated from (sorry.)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18963044

Tim Cahill: Everton agree terms for New York Red Bulls switch

Everton have agreed terms with Major League Soccer for the transfer of Tim Cahill to the New York Red Bulls.

The fee is believed to be in the region of £1m for the 32-year-old, who has spent eight years at Goodison Park.

Cahill is also understood to have agreed outline personal terms with the MLS club.

Decent player for them, big loss on the leadership side I guess.

Just noticed this popped up on the ticker on a sports channel. He hasn't statistically done much for them for a while, but he'll be a big loss for them. Would have figured he'd want to finish his career in Australia

Haha Sky have got a set of cringy adverts where they speak to a fan and reminisce. Chelsea's has a fan talking about them winning the CL etc.

There's one with an Everton fan reminiscing about... Howard's goal... against Bolton... In a match they lost...

He's a thug who could jump quite high. And thats about it. His everton career will be remembered for errrrr, scoring against the redshite?
Funny you say that. As soon as the story broke, one of the few blues I have on my Facebook posted a Youtube video of him scoring at Anfield hahaha.

He'll eventually come back in a couple of years when he's 35-36. It's a weird thing for me as an Aussie and a Red. He's been my favourite player since the 2006 World Cup, yet Liverpool fans hate him. Took me a few years to realise that was the case. Personally I hope he does well, but that's me with my Aussie cap on.

I'll always remember him for sky sports coming up with a graph comparing how high Cahill could jumped compared to a flea.

ha ha. I loved it when Rafa shut them up when they were asking him whether he would man mark Cahill when we played them.

Hate Cahill, he's in the same blueshite twat echelons as Fat headed Sharpie and Duncan Disorderly for me.

Which I suppose is exactly why the blueshite love him.

In terms of his ability, he's offered them nothing for at least the past 2 seasons so if Naismith turns out decent it could be a good move for them.

2 goals in 27 appearances last season, he's 32 certainly time to be letting him go. Much like we did with Dirk.

It took you a few years to realise that Liverpool fans would hate an everton player?
I was a 12 year old kid in Australia getting into football/soccer when I first started supporting Liverpool without a way to watch us play, I didn't have the chance to start watching us play until 2008/2009. I knew that Everton players were disliked, but I wasn't aware at how Cahill was loathed so much by our fans.

Loathed? Maybe in Australia, I don't know many Reds who give a flying fuck about him except for when the derby comes around and we pay attention to their lot until we leave with the points as is customary.

That's simply because the topic of his possible transfer was brought up and people are expressing opinions. Would be the very same
if it was Phil 'Mensa' Neville or any other blueshite player.

He's an Everton player so expect the hatred.

I support the Australian national team so I see him from two perspectives. One of our best players when he plays for Australia, a dirty player when he plays for Everton.
