Look on the bright side, we get to keep Cisse.

I think this proves once and for all Owen has no love for us.

its on the official website of newcastle too, subject to medical.

Well i dont want to sound bitter but Owens drastically gone down in my estimation. A four year deal? he said he didnt want a permanent move.

WORLD EXCLUSIVEOwen Agrees Magpies Move
By Gary Oliver

MICHAEL Owen was today poised to become a Newcastle United player after agreeing to join the Magpies on a four-year deal.

The 25-year-old was due to undergo a medical this afternoon, after Real Madrid accepted what was a club record transfer offer from United.

The fee beats that paid to Blackburn Rovers for the signing of Alan Shearer back in the summer of 1996.

And ecstatic chairman Freddy Shepherd believes the arrival of Owen would rank on a par with that fantastic transfer.

He told nufc.co.uk: "Bringing Michael to St. James' Park will rank alongside the signing of Alan Shearer as my proudest moment at Newcastle United.

"Newcastle fans love centre-forwards and Michael is a fantastic goalscorer. He's someone we would love to build the team around and we hope he can help us bring success to the club."

More on this story to follow on nufc.co.uk and Newcastle World TV during the rest of the day.
If you're going to sign up on Betfair and fancy getting a free £25 on sign-up then use my refer code 749DCNQGK and I'll also get a £25 bonus ;)

Isn't the Owen mantra: 'I will be happy here if I win trophies'

why is he going to Newcastle? He's really gone down in my estimation.

Well the biggest mistake he made in his life was leaving the european champs, and he will now have to carry Newcastle for 4 years. But as the saying goes you reap what you sow.
Oh well at least we get to keep Cisse  :wave

Give him a break, all he wants to be the player of the tournament at WC2006, that is what this is all about. He needs games and he is desperate to get them, to get his form up.

With Owen at NUFC and Cisse sets look to stay. Whats going to happen to the RM and CB we so badly need. Surely if we had funds to bring MO here we can now get the RM we need.

I am a bit gutted but am happy to see Cisse stay and want to see him take the Premiership by storm. However, we very badly need a RM!!!

Why sign a proven world-class player if he doesn't have as much passion and commitment as other players of similar ability already in your squad? Good for that, some form of closure at least.
