New songs
« on: November 10, 2002, 10:23:40 AM »
In the days of the 60's,70's,and early 80's Liverpool fans used to meet in THE ALBERT as they do today. But they gathered around in a circle and used to think up new songs. They used to make up a new song every game. ;D ;D
I think LFC fans should start doing this again in an attempt to discover the Spion Kop of old. ???
It's just an idea ;)

Thought of this when I was walking home although quite similar to another we already sing I think.

I AM A LIVERPUDLIAN,
FROM A CITY PAVED WITH RED,
YOU'LL HEAR ME SINGIN' AT AN-FI-ELD,
I'M A SCOUSER BORN AND BRED.

I'VE WATCHED SUCH LEGENDS,
LIKE DALGLISH AND RUSH,
AND EVEN FOWLER TO,
THERE'S ONLY ONE THING LEFT FOR ME TO SAY,
THAT'S I LOVE YOU LIVERPOOL!

Thought I heard 'duh duh duh duh, Andy Carroll' over my stream (to that awful Middlesbrough song). Please, please don't let this catch on.

You did and more notably sung for Andy Johnson when at Everton. Although there were efforts to get sweet Carroll nine going too.

No offence mate but you are dreaming! I spent all 70's match days in The Albert and it was impossible to see the bar, never mind "form a circle" to create new songs. There were airings of new songs, but every week?

Sweet Carroll 9 sounds utter shite on the Kop. Thought it was funny when it was on here, but it doesn't have the sound of a Kop song at all.

Bellamy could get one to the Zutons Valerie. ;)

The 'atmosphere' thread seems to be locked, not sure why? ???

Anyway, that Carroll song last night (the shite Championship team goal tune, not Sweet Carroll 9) was embarrassing, as was the Who Are Ya? and You're Not Singing Anymore chanting after our equaliser. Was pretty loud, even in the 300s of the Kop, others like me just standing there shaking our heads and cringing.

Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

Think the who are ya was just to throw it back at them to be honest, only happened after we got the equaliser, when they were screaming it at us.

Never happened after that iirc.

Never happened after that iirc.

'Who are ya?' happened once, and once too many, there were people properly enjoying singing it, I was mortified.
It has been creeping into Anfield for a while now, City at home last year was pretty bad from the Anfield Rd's perspective, there was the 'You're not singing anymore' at home to Napoli.
It needs sorting out.

Jonjo Shelvey, to 2-Unlimited, No No, ala Momo and Bolo.

Yes.

I remember it, perhaps it was because it wasn't catching one very well last night that it sounded as bad as it did, but I was never that keen on it in the past.

Also, what is wrong with singing someones name and clapping al a 'Xabi Alonso (five claps) Xabi Alonso' until they have a song rather than 'there's only one........' all the time? It is ridiculous.  One Andy Carroll, One Stewart Downing, One Jay Spearing, One Martin Kelly was even tried by a couple last night.
I got the Lucas thing wrong. Will be right on Henderson though. Play him RM, play him CM - Not good enough and never will be.

How about a song in the tune of "Got A Feeling" (Black Eyed Peas) ?  Could almost enter any players name, and since they both scored y'day, lets use the "drought" ones as test subjects:

Stu-uuart Downing

Today's gonna be his big game
Today's gonna be his big game
Today's gonna be his big big game

A-AAndy Carroll

Today's gonna be his big game
Today's gonna be his big game
Today's gonna be his big big game

Here he comes - here he comes - he's gonna score !
Here he comes - here he comes - he's gonna score !
Here he comes - here he comes - he's gonna score !
Here he comes - here he comes - he's gonna score !

(start again, could even jump between players)

I don't know if its because of the hoilett thread but i just burst out laughing at this

It already has one, to the same tune as You're Not Singing Anymore.

Probably the worst effort of modern times.
To support - to agree with and give encouragement to someone or something because you want them to succeed, especially in their times of need.
To boo - to make an expression of strong disapproval or disagreement against someone or something even when they are top of the league, usually done by gobshites.
