Morrientes, Warnock, Hamann and Traore all surposiby fit but will they all be risked. Who will fit in at left back Riise, Warnock, Traore? Formation 4-4-2, 4-5-1? Who will play upfront? Will Pellegreno keep his place?

My guess for the team selection is
                Dudek
Finnan Carra Hyypia Warnock
Nunez Gerrard Biscan Riise
           Garcia
                     Morrientes
-------------

Confirmed team news

Carson, Finnan, Pellegrino, Carragher, Traore, Biscan, Welsh, Riise, Nunez, Gerrard, Garcia.

Subs: Dudek, Hyypia, Le Tallec, Smicer, Morientes

I reckon it will be

         Morientes Nunez
Riise Biscan Gerrard Garcia
Warnock Pelle Carra Finnan
                 Dudek

Don't think Garcia-Morientes is a good partnership. While I want Garcia in the center myself, I reckon Nunez-Morientes up front has more to offer. And as much as I want Garcia in the center, he has scored a few from his RM position.

I'm not sure Rafa is going to be fiddling about at this stage of the season trying Nunez, who has hardly played at all, up front.

I could see rafa playing:

------------------------------dude---------------------------
Finnan--------Carra----Pelle/sami----Traore/Warnock
---------------Stevie---------------Biscan------------------
Nunez-------------------Garcia------------------------Riise
-----------------------Fernando------------------------------

or Smicer playing behind and garcia on the right with Nunez on the bench.

Will it be Traore or Warnock? Pelle or Sami?

I think are the main questions for tomorrow. Can't see Smicer starting over Nunez, especially after Rafa said he's starting to really perform now. And without playing Nunez up front, and using Garcia there a fair bit this year, I don't expect much change there.

Think Pelle is a banker
If Morientes is ambulatory, then he may well start. It's a risk;. But he does have a free week!
No idea if  Rafa will go with 5 in midfield again; but he doesn't seem to rate Welsh; so probably not.

Dunno about Nunez, who should get a start if Fernando is playing - and providing a possible target for any crosses.
Garcia at RM if Stevie is in the middle; if it's Biscan/Gerrard at CM, then Nunez is in, I suppose
Can't see AN upfront tho, Gnurglan; even tho he is good in the air

But WTF knows?

Certainly not me

He could try Smicer behind FM. Don't think he'll play Garcia-Morientes up front. And if he does, I don't expect it to work very well.

I know what you're saying. Morientes should really be the player in the hole behind the main striker, but with the limited options there, i'm sure Rafa will put him up top with Garcia behind. I think that's Garcias best postion anyway, even though he has proved he can play RM and cope with the physical stuff.

There's a risk we'll begin to hoof it with FM in the front position. And even if we kick it for him, I'd prefer it if we had a "runner" to pick up the ball. Garcia is not our man. Kewell is the kind of player I'd want. Nunez is also more direct in his style.

Another possibility is to play Welsh-Biscan behind Gerrard in a central triangle.

I could handle that, with Garcia on the right. And I wouldn't be suprised if Rafa went with it.

I think Nunez might get a game though. He played well in the derby against a physical (dirty bastards) Everton side, and it could be the same kind of game tomorrow.

After giving it some extra thought, my bet is Smicer-Morientes, with Garcia at RM. I'm confident Nunez will play, but I don't think he'll start the game. Welsh will be on the bench, but given the importance of the game, I reckon Rafa will go with the experienced players.

If Garcia is at right-midfield, can he cope with Ricardo Gardner, who is one of the attacking outlets for Bolton?

I feel Nunez will start at right-midfield. Another reason is that Nunez had no international duties, he will be fresh. So I think maybe the line-up won't be too surprising today.

just have a feeling he is sill the man to partner Carra in central defence.
Although Pelle has shown some nice displays recently.
I think Sami is much better with his opening passes from the defence...Pelle makes too many long passes and usually we lose those balls.
But i guess Rafa has great trust in Pelle, so we´ll see who´s playing today.

Hey 'Xabi Alonso' is Finn, not Argentinian nor neutral.  ;)

For me this is a 1-1 but a home win can happen if we play with the strength and physical determination shown in the derby.

I would like to see....

Bearing in mind the pessimism over the number of injuries, I would be happy with that line-up.

Great! those soccer saturday twats have gone for a score draw. And in Frank Mclintock's (that great and succesful manager) opinion, there is not much between the two sides.

Lets shut that twat and his sidekick, Nicholas up. They've never liked Liverpool.
