Classic Carragher Moments on and off the pitch
« on: April 1, 2005, 12:10:22 pm »
Just picking up from bazjones post about Robbies best moments, thought it be funny to hear peoples experiences or memories of our current legend that is Carra

On the pitch for me was trying to play on against Blackburn with a broken leg

Off the pitch would be when I read Murf's account when asked about his wrist band and replied in my back pocket with Ferguson  :)

His debut as an 18 year old against villa

He smashed Andy Townsend for an early booking to let him know who was boss and then capped it all with a header in front of the Kop.

With a bit of luck he might have scored a few goals this season. Maybe he's saving one for Juve on Tuesday night.

Posted before, but worth the repeat I think,

Best Carragher story of all time - true, came from his cousin.......

Liverpool v West Ham when Carragher, Cole and Ferdinand were all in the Under 21s. Jamie has arranged with Cole and Rio to get a pass from Harry Redknapp to stay over after the game. Idea is a night out in Liverpool. Jaime says to them that they can stay over with him and not to bother with a hotel.

Clearly they're all on a few bob so they push the boat out down the Albert Dock, Victoria Street etc - all looking a million dollars (especially the London lads) in their designer gear.

Anyway 1ish it's time for bed so back they go to Jaime's place. Thing is he hasn't felt the need (and why should he as he's offering hospitality like any decent person) to tell them that it's back to Boot Hill.

Back they go - Jaime's Mum's in her nightie saying "There's bacon butties on and I've put two camp beds up in the front room for your two mates".....

They better have been polite to Mrs C............

The Friday before the derby, he bumped into some blue nose sports writer from the Echo, Ian or Neil McDonald or something, anyway, he was driving along, when he spies this fella on the street.
Carra stops, puts his window down and shouts across the street to him ' We're gonna f*** yous' on Sunday, yer fat c***' and drives off!

When i used top play Sunday league footy, Cara's younger brother used to play for Bootle i think. Anyways once when we played them me Dad shouted to me "If ya score a hatrick il give ya a fiver", then straight after someone shouted "if ya score a hatrick then il give ya a grand" turned round and Cara was standing there on the line shouting to his bro. Was funny as fuck!!

Peno against Birmingham... Be honest, we were all a little anxious when he took that 'steam train' run up.

:D

Also, interview with Frank Lampard along the lines of: -

"The most disgusting person in football is  Carra, I used to room with him for the U-21's. Jamie used to wake up in the hotels in the morning, clear his throat and just spit huge fucking phlegm greeners on to the walls of the room. He also used to sit there eating fruit and when he had finished just lob the apple cores or whatever around the room."
"I'm Brick Tamland. People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks."

The "1-2, 1-2 we beat United 1-2" soundcheck on Question of Sport.

Telling Mourinho to fuck off.

Dressing up as the hunchback of Notre Dame and cavorting with strippers on stage with his pants down. Photos made their way into the tabloids. Apparently, Owen hid in a corner and Ince "looked concerned".

Johnny Sack: 200 grand for insulting my wife. What's next, Carmine, he gets to fuck her for a million?

Carmine: He wants to fuck her?

Johnny Sack: I'm making a point.

A few years back when he bought his new house, he put in a planning application to Sefton Council asking if he could knock down and remove a lot of the original external features of his Victorian House and replace them with glass panels and modern steel awnings.

When his application was refused he phoned up the department and the girl who took the call put him on loud speaker.

"awww, come on love,  i know they are old and the like, but they are fucking mingin. And I only want to change my house.  There are still loads of other old ones in the  street, awww go on love"  - he argued in a very high pitched pissed off voice.

Joanne, the girl on the phone was so hot for him she would have said yes go on then like a shot if she could have.

(Iwas pissing myself).

Half an hour later, his Dad phoned up to talk about 'James' application'.

It was the 2002 world cup finals. He was injured and missed out on playing. But the Echo approached him to write a column for them about Englands matchs. He agreed to do so but refused any payment for doing it. Any money he did make went straight to a local charity.

Thats is the kind of player he is. A local lad who had all of my respect

As previously stated, this was done in the boozer, so I just copied my post:

I remember bumping into him about six or seven years ago, in a Bootle establishment, and I recognised him but did not know where from. He was with his bird at the bar, I said hello and bought him and his missus a drink, thinking it was a lad I went to school with! We where chatting away, for quite some time and ended up in a round for a while and sat at a table, with my missus gabbing the lag of his bird. We where chatting about nothing in particular, and I was sure I went to school with the lad. Only when we where leaving and on the way into Town, I offered him a handshake and did the old, "see you later what was yer name again?" and he said Jamie, then I realised who it was I wanted the ground to swallow me up! He was really cool about it and laughed when I told him I thought he was a mate from school. Seen him later in Town, and he cam over and got the ale in.

Top Man.
"I think he scored 23 goals when I played him at right wing no ? So if he scores 24 this season then we will see
" - Rafael Benitez
