« on: March 11, 2005, 09:40:29 AM »
I noticed on the box that there was a good amount of flags at the game, anyone from here? I also noticed one from my home town of Barrow (right behing the goal) anybody else spot it?

Yes - I noticed it.

Worst fucking flag I've ever seen and should be burned immediately under the Good Friday KFS Agreement.

Keep flags Scouse - why??? We travel from Finglas in Dublin (you may have seen our flag on Wed afternoon in Cologne) and our flag has as much meaning as a flag from say Bootle or Kirkby. So don't be a knobhead!

no bothers, thanks for letting me have a couple. Met a couple of lads in the bar who i'd met at the airport and ended up drinking and singing with them all the way to the ground. Tried to bunk into the away end but the stewards where having none of it. I was behind the goal where Garcia scored. Loads of reds in there as well. I think i could see your lot in the stand opposite the away end, right up the back of the stand with the Finglas flag on the wall?????

Happy fcukin days though. Munich in the next round would be nice for me!!

Rushian, that is a terrible policy in my opinion. Our flag has a huge liverbird, 4 stars (for obvious reasons) and is a beautiful colour red!! However, "your" policy states that we shouldn't fly it?? That's b*llox, pure and utter b*llox!! It's time to amend the policy my friend!

Liverpool FC represents the city itself so other places shouldn't be mentioned if they don't encorporate Liverpool the city.

No need for any OOT argument here.

Would someone take a Wales flag to an England match?

No.

Would George Bush fly the Iraqi flag above the White House?

No.

So why do people think its ok to take flags bearing the name of another town or city to a LIVERPOOL match?

Oh of course it's a different...........is it shit!!! Our flag is as LIVERPOOL as any. It's make-up is RED,WHITE,LIVERBIRD,LIVERPOOL FC and 4 stars. We also added our home town (in Dublin) to it to make it unique and special to us. Liverpool means as much to me as it does to you (I know we've has this argument before but it really pisses me off).

Liverpool FC in itself should be special enough without adding stuff that is unrelated to the club & city.

Tatanka Yotanka - its got nothing to do with supporters clubs, its appreciating Benitez etc.

That would be an obvious inference.  Why on earth do people want to link their home town with Liverpool FC?  It's stupid.  If you want to glorify Liverpool, do so but glorify Liverpool FC for Liverpool FC's sake and don't try and link/associate your town to the club in the hope it'll boost the place.

Yeah but the flags are fucking red man, one colour, mentioning your town shows how wide the support is, its not like we get a Tri-colour and stick a Liverbird on it.

That rule is a pile of fucking shite, im from Ireland so im going to stick Bootle on my Flag just for the craic.

Or maybe you could just keep it to Liverpool FC ...

agree that looks petty, believe all flags should be red but i think its shame considering its links and close ties that being Irish i would be frowned upon bringing a flag stating iam an irish red

Fair play Dirty Harry, a man that speaks sense........and in response to MBE - we're not trying to boost Finglas, you won't know this but nothing would boost it, it's the Croxteth of Dublin but it's still home sweet home!!!

You speak sense Dirty Harry.

And putting your town on it is not a way to "raise the profile of the place". We're from Finglas so nothing will do that for us (it's the Croxteth of Dublin) but it's home sweet home!

Anyway, our  flag (again, it's red, white with a Liverpool not some Welsh dragon sitting on it) will still travel regardless of whether some of you "real scousers" approve or not!!

p.s. Us Paddy's are keeping Anfield alive anyway, there's more of us in there every week than "Scousers".....................

And there in a nutshell is the reason why some Scousers despise the greater-spotted OOTer.  Plus it gives the Evertonian of the species another stick to beat us with.  You ever heard the song, "Spot the Scouser in the Kop"?  And now our "own fans" are having a go as well!

People like you demean what the club stands for, i do know what you mean, but i don't agree with thugs coming up and stealing the flags and burning em....what the fuck like? Its still got the emblems on them, but why do you guys if you are from Liverpool feel the need to stick Bootle and other local locations on your banners when Liverpool will do?
