A suberb performance. The best I've seen warnock play at left-back - very encouraging after a poor showing at Southampton the last time he played there. Gerrard was more effective than recent weeks for playing off the front again instead of in a more restricted role. Baros was superb, delighted that he got his goal.
The last 2 games have kind of summed up our season. There's a lot of promise there in some performances that we're really going places under Rafa, and then you get performances like Newcastle where we were absolutely appalling in truth.
To date, performances like those tonight haven't resulted in a surge of confidence that leads to a run of victories. There's no obvious reasons why, although the fact that injuries have stopped us ever getting a consistent side out obviously hasn't helped. With new players also trying to settle and a new manager adjusting to the English game that's probably the reason. It doesn't make it any easier to take as fan though.
Next season we will come good. The signs are there, there's a lot of talent in our side, and some in our squad as well. It's just about finding a balance, Rafa finding a starting line-up he's happy with and players settling down.
An end to the Gerrard speculation one way or another will probably also help.
