Dragons Den BBC2
« on: January 13, 2005, 03:09:45 PM »
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dragonsden/

has anyone else seen this program on beeb2. Watched it last night the missus recorded it. Basic format is five succesful millionaires sit there whilst, nervous inventors/entrauperners attempt to get them to invest in their ideas/businesses.

Quite good. Some of the poor gits just go to pieces and freeze during the pitch. Worth a watch !

Anyone reckon that Rachel Elnaugh will be on the next series, ha ha.

Maybe if she hadn't handed over all that money for those crackpot business ideas, she might nave been able to help pay the creditors.

Returns to BBC2 tonight at 8pm.

I notice that Simon Woodroffe has been replaced by every red's favourite football club chairman Theo Paphitis.

Paphitis and Peter Jones recently bailed out Rachel Elnaugh's company Red Letter Days so it could make for some interesting moments.

Did anyone watch this then? I suppose this needs moving to the arts and media forum.

I hate to say this but I think Paphitis has actually made the programme even better.

Some of the contestants are really dumb as fuck. The cabby who was trying to pitch the rack-a-stack idea was insane not to take the Dragons' offer, no doubt he'll still be a cabby in 10 years time.

The woman who spent £15,000 on kid's knickers was well funny. She's already ordered 180,000 pairs of undies and doesn't have the means to pay for them! Classic. This stuff beats X-factor hands down. These people are genuine idiots.

At least these people have ideas and try to do something about it.

Have you ever created something that you are passionate about and come to a point where you have to seek funding for it?

I've had to endure venture capitalists and smug investors crawling around me and let me tell you something .. it's not a very nice feeling.

You think you could stand up to these wannabe Simon Cowells?

Series 1 was good but they've turned Series 2 into more of a "Simon Cowell pithy put down" type of show.

"Make me a million" is a million times (no pun intended) more interesting and engrossing despite the cheesy title. Real people, real mentors, real money, real (fledgling) businesses, real problems etc. Fascinating seeing the entrepreneurs develop and the problems they face. Great "human" angle to the series as well. Stelios from EasyJet, the bloke who founded PizzaExpress and the guy who started the Waterstones chain, are the final judges. 10/10

Yeah .. I agree .. I thought the whole package was much better and at least you get to know what happens with them up to a certain point.

I'm sorry but ordering 100k's worth of underwear without the means to pay for it is dumb as fuck and the woman really had no clue about the reality of being a human being on planet earth.

I wouldn't mock anybody with a dream and half decent sensible idea of how to follow that dream but dizzy bints like her need some kind of compulsory further education.

Dragons Den is a good program but I feel the Millionaires are just being harsh for the sake of TV.

I can't remember the name of the guy but the one that sits to Theo Pathitis's left is a complete and utter twat.

Wake up, will ya pal? If you're not inside, you're outside, OK? And I'm not talking a $400,000 a year working Wall Street stiff flying first class and being comfortable, I'm talking about liquid. Thought tonights was excellent. Though investing £225k in a fairly ropey-looking TV stand idea was a turnup for the books, I thought that guy would get laughed at

Series 3 starts tonight on BBC2 at 8pm. A couple of new Dragons added, should be good.

hardly even a new idea either, screens have been in tables (usually arcade games) are nothing new.

first time i've seen the dragons trying to outbid each other over an idea

Very, very good programme that, though on the downside I don't really like the new dragons.

Thought it was really good. I love it when the dragons try to undercut each other. You can tell all they see in each peson is how much of their company they can take off them for a little money possible
