Lots are staying in the Ibis by the Cathedral, lots in the Ibis Koeln Barbarossaplatz (where we are), which is a little walk out of the city centre, but it's not too far and it's alot cheaper, which swung it for me.

Everyone seems to have it sussed on here and most have been there before. If I had to stay in Köln I would also go for somewhere near the city centre or the Dom platz which is  near the old town and the old market. loads of bars. If you have to stay near the messe, the local train station "Deutz" is pretty handy. Don't try walking from the city to the Messe or you'll be walking for ever and will miss the final. Transport is good, even from Düsseldorf, but I think Köln is the better bet as it is slightly closer.

erm, getting one for 2 nights.  Not sure which one yet, but will be in cologne.  Flying with jon and terri.

Will get flights sorted then do hotel.  Stayed in Cologne when we played there pre-season, lovely place, plenty of hotels near the cathedral area which looked nice and loads of drinking establishments there!

Well as its Kirsty's birthday in case she hasn't said a few times  ;)
I have now booked us into a higher class accomodation near the Dom.  Sofitel Dorint am Dom,  nice 4/5 star with a Hammam/ Spa in the hotel Woohooo!!!

Between us we will have tons of rooms to release. I have about 8 unwanted bookings now  :-\

Never give up

The Ibis Barbarossaplatz staff begin their extra training for the visit of RAWK

but in Cologne the beer their serve is Kolsch, and in tiny 100 ml glasses.
If you're going to sign up on Betfair and fancy getting a free £25 on sign-up then use my refer code 749DCNQGK and I'll also get a £25 bonus ;)

If you ask for ein grosses bier bitte you will get a beer in a 400ml glass.

but you never want to drink Kolsch in a 400 ml glass - sit at the bar and keep getting 100 ml refills .... a very fresh beer which tends to "go off" in you get served too big a measure.

Got four of us in the Renaissance in the centre of Cologne . All in a junior suite for about £30 notes each .

apart from the fact that its got a pool( have to start practicing my bombing techniques) the main thing is it gets you into the free bar on the hotels executive floors. Thats if my stomach hasn't fooled my brain into thinking thats the case.

What i got stung for the flights i'm determined to drink my way back to profit!

By road to cologne 86 Km. you will drive by the stadium  in Leverkusen on your way. Trains are good either to Cologne or Leverkusen.

Right. Duesseldorf is more the "in"-crowd. There is more fun to be had in Cologne. If I get a day off I might go there only to party as I can drive there and the tickets for sale in Germany were sold out in a few hours. The prices at e-bay are too high (fixed price two cards EUR 399)
