Pretty interesting stuff indeed.

If you do a quick search using google or yahoo and put in some of the other names on that takeover panel website, you can come up with some other information which points to this being a definite offer from the L4 group.

For instance if you put in Hearts and Vladimir then you get a whole host of stories relating to Hearts being taken over by Vladimir Romanov.  This is actually happening to Hearts right now.  Or if you put in GWR and Capital Radio then it comes up with stories about the merger between the two.

Maybe that's very obvious to others.  Just giving people some more to go on.

Perhaps the reason this hasn't happened before is because Morgan was after a share issue and the bid is a takeover bid

Morgans share offer would have put money into the club by way of shares and simply diluted the value of Moores shares

A takeover means  DM shares are sold to a bidder and the money goes to DM.

at least thats the way I understand it

yeah thats how it would happen in a takeover senario, but it might not be a bad thing because they might be wanting to by up then splash the ccash

As a total by the by, and so forth...

...there was an article in the daily mail suggesting that a "group" who were keen on taking control of Liverpool had "equal spending power to Abramovich" which makes me think...

Would you actually want to have someone with so much money taking control of LFC, wouldn't it ruin the club, turn us into something we (certainly I) don't want. I appreciate that winning the league with 11 scousers who cost us nothing is unlikely, but it would be nice to make our way to the top on merit, rather than cash.
It looks to me as if we have signed another 'average' player. I'll hold back my complete opinion until I see the lad play

yeah except we do have more cash than most clubs already...

Burnley for eg would laugh at us saying that.

But ask Blackburn fans when Walker bought them the Championship - would they have swapped that for anything else ?

But I do agree. We are Liverpool and we ought to have some sense of pride.

Got to agree with that, Gus.

Would be nice to just 'do it by ourselves' but I suppose the cold reality of it all is that sooner or later Arsenal and the scum will do it too and then we'll get left behind.  If you weigh it all up it would probably just point to us getting there before them.

Same thing was brought up on YNWA although it was talking about hollow wins and how we would feel.

I think it depends on what the money is used for.

If it's to build a team for now by outbidding everyone else without looking at the long term picture and not ensuring that, should the money dry up, the club is a self sustaining entity that could survive in the long run without a billionaire then yeah, it is fairly hollow. You'd still take it in the short term but that nagging feeling of 'what if' would always linger.

If however you spent 200 million on a structure that bred the success through improved facilities, scouting, academy and the purchase of players at a sensible level as well as making sure the long term suture of the club was secure then no, it wouldn't be hollow and I'dfeel a lot more comfortable.

But the money we now have is a result years of wise investment and sucessful local players, it is not like someone has suddenly given us Ł200M to spend one close season.

the reason Morgan wanted a share issue is because he could not afford to buy out DM and DM would never sell to him anyway

the interesting thing here is L4 must have the money to buy DM out

given we all agree DM is a true red - he must also have been reasured that they can also bank role the club's future presumably at least equal to Morgan's commitment

sounds very interesting indeed

although a buy out is likely to see the departure of Moores and Parry which would be sad - it may just be that only a portion of the shares will be sold, enough for a takeover 29%, leaving Moores  22%, in which case we could have the best of all worlds

Moores as chairman in an ambassador role , Parry as CEO providing continuity and great knowledge of football administration and a new director with seriously good business skills to maximise our income and serious money to invest - it is christmas after all - now we just need to qualify wednesday

I'd imagine that there won't be anything about this in the news tomorrow.  Especially not on the official site.  Best we can hope for is something in the Echo possibly.

If it looks like Moores is on his way out then fuck yeah, it could be Mother Theresa that's buying the shares for all I care it's still a sad thing to lose a great chairman, one of the best. Perhaps depressed is too strong a word -  conservatively apprehensive might sum it up better.
Moores may not necessarily step down as chaiman.

That is my main concern at the mo. It could be awesome for the club, it could be a disaster, but no one knows enough about these people to know what their plans and motives are.

This time next week the whole thing will belong to me.... well 51% anyway 8)

First thing I'm gonna do is transfer list one player and ban many fans 8)

Bet I can guess who the player is ;D. May I also suggest some fans? I take it as a given that I'll not be allowed anywhere near L4 in future. Me being Welsh and all. ;)

I could be reading this all wrong cos there's some pretty confusing stuff on here,  but if it is the L4 group that's about to swoop then why would Parry have strongly hinted just a couple of days ago that there was no substance to their bids?

So am I, very worried and concerned – with Moore’s I always know he means well, I never ever doubt his intentions – I know he always does what he feels is right for Liverpool FC, you cant buy that kind of loyalty – the thought of him not looking out for us worries me big time.

Thinking back to the Monaco game last week in France – the way he acknowledged us Liverpool fans and stood in front of us, arms in the air – I’m delighted he got such a good reception from the travelling reds.

Morgan might be worth 3 or 400 million but unlike Abromovich his money is all tied up he can't just shell it all out  thats why he's been offering under the odds for the shares he does not have that much available (70 million is a bit more than I have in me pocket tho) - hence underwriting a share issue rather than buying out Moores
