Baros Back!!!!
« on: November 30, 2004, 09:49:46 AM »
Despite early fears that Baros would be out for a month he will return to training at Melwood today.
His comeback game is expected to be the derby, but there is an outside chance of him playing some part in the Olympiakos game. :)

The day just got better  :D
If Kenny Dalglish had simply played football for Liverpool he would be an Anfield hero. However, the fact that he managed the club to even greater success guarantees him the status of a legend.

there is a post in YNWA.tv saying that Baros was back training yesterday, using the ball. And COULD be back for olympiakos game.  Info came originally from Liverpool.no site.

Will be glad when he's back..........

BUT ONLY IF FULLY FIT....

after the result against the gooners, i feel that Nm certainly didnt shirkl any responsibilitys, and could do with a decent run in the side....

so with Mellor an{ on last performance any how} able replacement  lets let Milan get back to full fitness..
after reading wendi's post in the "physiology" thread... time is what Milan needs and so do we..

excellent news if it proves to be true ... as well as mellor tried vs arsenal - he doesnt quite have the ammo that Baros does and baros is obviously the better option - possessing more ability to scare the shit out of the opposition.  Mellor is good back up, a good goal threat and a powerful option to bring on, but no doubt baros is our best striking option.

baros is also excellent at closing down opposition - not as strong as mellor but faster and creates alot for himself.

Mellor was injured playing for the czechs on a wednesday international.

from the date of that international, it is exacty 21 days to the Olympiacos game.

As original medical reports stated he'd be back in 3 to 4 weeks, this is at the early part of that, so not too unbelievible.

Nice to have him back though.

I see him on the bench for Olympiakos, getting more rest and time to recover, but worth a risk if we need to, given the money at stake...

three weeks out was the best estimate for Milan so a place on the bench for the final champs league game looks a distinct possibility. Was the injury a slight tear (rather than a pull)? If so modern medicine can do wonders.

I do believe we have turned a corner.  Players coming back from injury and the team and the fans riding the crest of a wave of new-found optimism.  It's important we have a good run in December now to set us up nicely for an assault on the top 4 places.

Lets not have any talk of turning corners...we've turned that many in the past seasons that we've ended up going round in circles.  However, I share your optimism and I think we can make a serious impact on the premiership next year..maybe even the tail end of this year.  Its a mouth watering prospect seeing what Benitez is putting together and how quickly he is learning the premiership.

From .tv now:

Milan Baros is hoping to be back in the Liverpool attack for their Champions League clash with Olympiacos next week.
Baros has been battling to overcome a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty and is now doing some light training with the rest of his team-mates at Melwood.

Despite the wonderful victory over Arsenal on Sunday manager Rafael Benitez is desperate for his striking options to increase, and he today revealed the Czech ace could be just a week away from playing again.

He said: "Milan is back doing some jogging. I think he will be out for another week.

"He wants to play against Olympiacos next Wednesday. We'll see."

Now I may start to believe it, but I still want him to REALLY be fit before he plays......... :D
We are a team of one half.

Great news. Having Milan back is a big boost, I think he and Mellor could work out a partnership.

Nothing u can add, jus dont want his hamstring going again, I think that, if we do well tomorrow & sat then we'll beat Olympiakos with or without Baros

maybe he;ll be ready for the bitters

To be honest, and I hope I am not tempting fate, but I don't think Olympiakos are all that great away from home, I fully expect us to win, especially with Milan back. The query is whether we can get the two goal lead, It may not even be necessary with Deportivo hopefully grabbing a point off Monaco.

But why is he back so early?

Not really early cos the olympiakos game would be 3 weeks after he did it and didn't the club say he'd be out for 3-4weeks.

Think he'll be back for the bitters anyway, and not the olympiakos one. With him only doing running now can't see him being ready that quick.
