After match Millwall comments here
« on: October 26, 2004, 09:50:58 pm »
Was going to comment before the game about Muscat being nastier than even Lucas Neill (Aussie full backs, eh?). What a fucking shit that tosspot is.

Thank fuck Milan put a nice look to the scoreline, and another clean sheet.

Definitely Paul.  Did you notice that he went for the man everytime?

Not once did he make a tackle to get the ball.

Horrible c*nt.  Wish Tommy Smith was playing, Muscat would be in traction by now.

Shame for the travelling reds missing are their secret weapon eh jon? ;D

One thing I do have to say about the game is Diao's movement for his goal.  Thought it was first class that he dropped back away from the pack to make sure he had space and time if the ball came to him.
So all say thanks to the Shanks

A comment for Whitbread - looked great in the second half. And a lovely pass by Potter for the third goal.

Damn good result.

Igor was very impressive, Diao was poor, and needs to go. Warnock and Potter were getting Mullered by the Full Backs before they could do anything. Whitbread looked far better than when i saw him in the US. Pingu and Baros were Class.

Muscat ought to be put down!
It looks to me as if we have signed another 'average' player. I'll hold back my complete opinion until I see the lad play

Yeah got a look at Whitbread in the preseasons and he didn't quite look up to the job then, possibly down to nerves but he looked much more accomplished tonight, certainly didn't look troubled at any time. Flo looked alright in patches, showed good intent and Milan just showed his class.

Good result, felt sorry for FSP, he was playing well before he got injured. He'll get other chances though I hope. Traoe impressed me as well. Biscan had a few magic moments  ;D Milan took both his goals very well.

That Muscat is a horrible twat though isnt he? Seems to be the perfect captain for that shower of shite, same as Wise is the perfect manager.  :wanker Fack off Millwawwl

Even though our reserves team didn't dominate, they played better overall and baros proved how good he can be again. Lets hope he takes that clinical finishing over for the next header he gets from 5 yards.

Haven't conceded in 300+ minutes of play. Not too shabby.

That Muscat needs to be put in a barrack room full of scouse soldiers, see who's the big man then eh Davalad.....

what a bell end.... :tosser

I feel we did very well considering we made ten changes to the line up, very determind and Baros just came on and proved what a quality, clinical striker he is....well in fella....

Diao, still hasn't convinced me he's worthy of a Liverpoo shirt, even though it was a good finsh tonight. Sinima looked very lively on the ball and at the moment, Rafa has a good dilema of who to pair upfront. Millwall created good chances I feel but we proved what the difference is between premiership and the championship tonight, even with our second string line up. Got a bit fiesty between the fans like, I think it was because of Racist Chants and a few of our lads were pointing to the banner to tell the Police....

Well done tonight reds, played well.....

Good result, I thought Whitbread was good, Milan proved how clinical he is, 2 goals scored from the same spot!

Not the most entertaining match I've seen so far this season, but sans Carragher, Hyypia, Kirkland, Alonso, Garcia, Hamann, Kewell, Cisse still through to the next round, that's what matters.

Did anyone see that little twat Denis Wise giving instructions to Muscat just after half time? It seemed to me like he was telling him to take a few of our players out of the game. Midget twat!

How the fuck muscat got away with those challanges I'll never know, but this all goes back to what I was saying in a thread the other day. We as a team have GOT to protect each other more on the field. If that was an Arse or MU player muscat done that to he would have had the whole fuckin team to answer to.
For to long our players have let yard dogs like Muscat bully them, time to start giving a bit back.

I thought Zak Whitbread had a very assured debut. A very mature performance from the lad.  The one mistake he made he recovered brilliantly from. I was impressed by the young lad tonight, so good to see a debut like that, at a tough place to play.

All in all, superb character from our lads tonight.

How nice was it to see a 3-0 win from the Reds away from home at one of them 'tricky cup games', with Sami, Xabi, Garcia, Kewell, Didi and Cisse all having a nice evening in watching it on telly  ;D

Villa losing 3-1 to Burnley with a strong side proves that sometimes it's better to play hungry youngsters than first team players who won't be as motivated for a 'lower key' game.

Blackburn had no midweek game, so fortunately our first team had a good rest too, and Milan - who barely stretched his legs - will have a lot more confidence going into Saturday's game.

Baros looked the real deal tonight/fans/owen
« Reply #27 on: October 26, 2004, 10:42:06 pm »
I know the opposition was weak, but after a decent display from those youngsters it was so good to see Baros come on and see the gulf in class between him and every other player on the pitch. His two finishes were of a real quality. With Cisse improving every game, things are looking very bright.

Watched the game in a bar, escaped quick to avoid violence...couldn't here the chants but I was disappointed with the way sky assumed it was us causing the problems. Of course a minority fans shouldn't have sat in the Millwall end, as is being reported....but the alleged chants from the scum fans, if true, are truly disgraceful.

I also was very unimpressed with Muscat's treatment of Baros, he's a miserable moaning and disgusting character as his record shows...and he should've been sent off for grabbing milan's throat. He saw Milan was ripping them apart, knew they were gonna lose, and aka Roy Keane...tried to steal headlines by being sent off. How mature.

Also, for anyone who cares, Michael Owen scored again for Madrid tonight, 3 in 3. I've said all along he is world class, got shot down on the .tv boards for this, but now everyone seems to think he's top class on their again!!!  :no Thats some of the .tv crew for you.

Also well done to Zak Whitbread, looked like a Hyypia number two.

Having had 15 minutes or so and a ciggie to mull over the game i think one of THE most impressive things to come out of tonight was the fact we never lost our rag and refused to get sucked into the game that Millwall wanted to play, they though by intimidating a few of our youngsters we would get sucked into trying to play them at thier own game and lose focus of trying instead to play football

My ratings

Dudek - Did very well when called upon. Was a good captain too when he rushed out to alleviate that little bust up with Traore in the first half with one of the Millwall no marks. 8

Josemi - Looked solid enough. 7.5

Henchoz - Clearly lacking match practice and probably confidence but did alright. 7

Whitbread - Really classy. Never panicked, good distribution. A real prospect at central defence. 8.5

Traore - Solid again. 7.5

Potter - More in the game when he moved to central midfield which is his natural position and agains looks a good prospect but he's no winger. 7.5

Diao - Good goal but still looked dodgy in all aspects of his game, sloppy passing in particular. Still a lot to prove. 7

Biscan - Did very well. Few good chances in front of goal and controlled the ball very well, doing the simple things well which is a lot different from last season. 8

Warnock - Good performance again from him. 7.5

Pongolle - Very lively, very skillful, would probably have had a goal had it not been for Muscat. 8

Mellor - Disappointing. Lacked confidence and cutting edge that we've seen in the reserves. More games will benefit him. Hope he starts again in the next round. 7

Subs:

Baros - 30 minutes, two goals. Not much else you can ask for. 10

Finnan - Not a lot of time for him.

Riise - Ditto.

Good point. We handled it well. Typical Wise/Wimbledon antics, and glad to wipe to nasty snarling smile of that little runt's face after his comments about us taking them lightly. We fielded our reserves and beat them with plenty to spare. Lovely!

Stood out for me tonight were Flo Po thought he was looking very very good, always willing to run at players, more of the same please and once again Traore who seems to rarely misplace a pass now, keeps it nice and simple and gets it right which was the main issue with him previously, looking very promising. Was a decent performance tonight, just proves that what weve got coming up through the ranks is better than Divison 1 Standard :P

First post - had to after playing Millwall.

I used to live in SE London, and used to drive past Millwall stadium. When there was a match on it was very unpleasant. I feld very sorry for the residents who really wanted none of it.

Those 'supporters' are total and utter scum. They have no interest in football, and total interest in a fight. It's sad to see that the same seems to apply to the players. I think it's about time the FA made them play all their matches behind closed doors and somewhere else because no one, inc. residents, opposition teams/supporters, genuine Millwall fans (if there are any) deserves that.

What is esp. sad to see is that just a few miles down the road is Charlton, a very well run club which you could, and many people do, take your children to see.

BTW, I now live in Basel (Switzerland) where there's no violence and the reds fans are held in high esteem here.

Anyway, love reading your posts guys/gals, you all seem to know loads so it's very informative.

Not sure if that's the case just yet... hopefully time will prove that, not one result - which owed much to international players who are now mostly only reserves for us (and Milan).

The kids did well, but it wasn't a team full of kids - just three, plus Warnock (who's 22 and has spent two years in the First Division on loan).

A lot of credit goes to Rafa for the style of play - although we didn't have many 'passers' in the team, we still kept the ball well, our shape was good and we didn't rise to the provocation.

Terrible ref tonight. Either he lost his whistle in the dressing room or he forgot to use his contacts. There were some dreadful tackles he should have dealt with better early on. Our boys did well to keep their focus. Thought Pongolle was very good. Good in possession and he looked quick, like he was always up to something. Shame he had to go off. Baros delivered, which was great. Also thought he let go of the ball in a nice manner.

But the one player I was most impressed with was Whitbread. He tried (and managed) to get every ball to a team mate and I liked that a lot. No worries there. He played as if he was a 1st team regular. Well done, Zak! I can safely say you'll get more chances to play. :D

The first comment i have to make is agreeing with what red chill said in the match thred, Josemi looked a class above everybody on the pitch, his passing, running movement everything was unrivalled by anyone else (besides Milan when he came on)and he continues to look a snip at 2 mil.  Thought Whitbred was outstanding kept thinking he was Sami  ;D going from that i hope he should get a game at centreback should we have some injury worries or suspensions.  Mellor who i always thought finishing was his greatest strength disappointed tonight, did anyone else see him shake his head at rafa when coming off, not sure if it was fitness or confidence but i really feel sorry for the lad.  I really hope we can see the likes of Potter, Whitbred and Warnock play in all of the league cup games and maybe make a few league games, i really like it when someone comes through the ranks and makes the first team, and whos surname isn't Owen.
