I waver back on forth on this, but the truth is we've seen the best of him, and sentimentality has always been LFC's soft underbelly.

I'd rather remember him as he was and his amazing brilliance, rather than watch him languish on the bench or declining in real time on the pitch. A slower game will suit him.

me too.  we had him at his peak.  we hate the timing but there's eff-all we can do about it, so look at the positives and keep the wonderful memories.

It's not always purely about being ruthless, it's just understanding what value a player can still give us for the wages they want. It would've been great to keep Bobby as backup, but not for similar wages. Bet you if he was ready to sign for half his wages a deal would've been done.

I would've loved him to stay but that's because I don't hold the purse strings.

What was his p90 scoring rate this season? Had to be pretty high?

I'm sure that seemed smart when you typed it out but wtf does it even mean, and hate ?

Notice that you didn't refute what I said, kind of hard too though I guess, considering it was all true.

But didn’t Klopp want him to stay?

He was actually really good in the run-in.

He was scoring more than ever.

Every 111 minutes in PL and every 132 mins overall.

I am assuming it’s his best ever.

Klopp is a football manager, whose job is to win matches. Bobby is a quality player  (as is Milner). So, of course he'd want to keep them. It's just not how football works.

That was meant to quote the post at the top of this page. I think Firmino should have been kept on for at least another season as he was playing top notch stuff. Gakpo etc still need to reach that level.

And Bobby wanted to stay ?

It also worked fine for the likes of those twats down the road, he would always have an older experienced forward on the bench. The ship has sailed but don't go making out that it would've been outrageous for us to keep him.

Where am I saying it would have been outrageous for us to keep him?  I'm  saying "Klopp wanted to keep a good footballer for his squad" is not really a good argument overall and there's a bigger picture. I'd love to never do a day's work for the rest of my life. My bank guy and my landlord probably don't think it's a good idea and sadly I have to agree with them.

Can’t believe we’re letting him go. He can still do a job for another season. Any news on where he is going to.

He's only going to get worse. A more ruthless team would have replaced him sooner. Too much time on the sidelines for the last two years.

On the other hand, just watched all 111 of his goals for LFC... WHAT A FUCKING LEGEND OF A PLAYER.

Would have been interesting if his contract still had a couple of years to run on it, if he'd have stayed around (I think he would).

He seemed to make an impact off the bench a lot, he deserves more of a spot than that of course wherever he ends up, but he would have remained a more than useful weapon for us.

Only watched bits of the first 2 episodes, but fuck me that 3rd episode was a hard watch! Think the missus was cutting onions earlier...  :-[

A fabulous doc, bit weird to see it as he is leaving but its a great recap on everything he's done here and before.

Just an all time legend, Bobby has joined the greats of this club, which is astonishing whrn you consider the names that have gone before. Hope he's going to a decent club but I haven't seen anything yet.

He'll be missed for sure. :(

LFCTV did a really nice job on this (I notice Redmen TV have done similar).

Very enjoyable - and yeah, a bit sad in episode 3.

I dont think I said anything about Gerrard because it never happened but for what it’s worth I suspect there’s significant naivety about how much more money, even for very wealthy people, is a motivator. And if you were very wealthy, you probably wouldn’t be the exception. As one famous industrialist in 20th C America said, ‘how much money is enough? Just a little bit more’. That’s not to make any comment about the rights or wrongs of going there but it is to pushback on the occasional, and forgive the language, ‘self righteousness’ on display when people talk about this.

Instinctively this feels a little different, although I'm not 100% sure why. I think it's because Bobby is approaching the end of his playing career and one last pay day at a lower level is relatively in line with what his aspirations might be. It's disappointing that it's a state with a dreadful human rights record but he'd have been in a poor but rich league within a year or two anyway. That feels different to Stevie who would have been committing managerial career suicide at a very early stage of it. Basically, the cost vs benefit of the respective decisions are different, I think. Still disappointed if Bobby goes there, and I was pleased Stevie didn't.
