I mean, if his first reaction to a ball bouncing in front of him 40 yards from goal is 'I'm going to whack this into the net from here', you just have to laugh at the sheer improbability of it all."

Great 2-0 victory for Uruguay against Bolivia, first time we win in La Paz.  :wellin

Aguero injured against Ecuador, by the way.

You should have won at the World Cup. Shame that you didn't, would have been a far more merciful way to put our sorry team out than the embarrassment that was to come. Would have been a fairer result too.

cheers, mate!  :scarf

That match (especially Pinilla's last strike...) haunted me for a long fucking time, but winning the Copa América earlier this year was the beginning of me coming to terms with what happened at the World Cup and I've moved on. It's still frustrating ('cause I thought we really played a damn good match back then), but it doesn't hurt the way it did last year.

You're haunted?!?! Try coming back from 1-7 (might as well have been 12-0 had the Germans wanted it) at your home World Cup :/ Never going away that

LOL, tru dat. At least we're able to talk about these things with a certain detachment, I think having the same discussion but last year would've been a minefield ;D

It's lucky for Brazil and Argentina that 5 teams from South America can qualify or one of them could be in trouble given how strong some of the other teams are.

Uruguay, Chile, and Colombia can beat anyone on their day and should round out the top 5, but with Ecuador and Paraguay looking threatening and having good starts there won't be as much room for error as there was like 10-15 years ago. Even games against Peru, Venezuela, and Bolivia aren't the walkovers they once were.

haha, yeah. To be fair, it was a good goal but: A) our defense was shocking there, and B) Farfán was probably slightly offside. I'm not sure on that last one, though.

Yeah they have it pretty easy , then again look at England's recent qualifying groups  ;D

9 goals in 4 and a half games for Sanchez. Unplayable at the moment, Moved up a level or 2 since joining Arsenal.

I'd say leaving Barcelona was definitely the best move for him - he was constantly scrutinized (by fans and the media) and he was obviously playing second fiddle to Messi. He wasn't comfortable at all during the last part of his stay there, even if he was still raising his level.

As for moving to Arsenal, I wouldn't say that was a good move at all ;D Your lot is (and should be) delighted, though. He's been immense so far, and he still has more to give. Obviously, as a Liverpool supporter (and Alexis fan), it bothers me a lot ;D

Vargas may have a shit career in Europe, but he's incredibly effective for our National Team. And Alexis... 8)

He's an absolute hero for us, you see lots of Chilean flags at the games now. We are lucky to have him, his attitude puts a few of our players to shame as well. Maybe we should sign Vargas, they seem to have a great understanding.
