When do we say Rodgers can't fix us?  Let's be honest he's not sorted out our defence in 2.5 seasons if anything it's getting worse after his buys come in, this can't go in into perpetuity.

Coutinio is a complete waste of space away in this league we all know that yet it still happens.

This cannot go on, I can't see how FSG can release funds in January for Rodgers his signings are car crash stuff.

Looks like the Mig is gonna get the Borini treatment so he is no way confused reaching the conclusion that he should, just, fuck off.

Realistically if we still had Suarez i wouldn't want anyone else. With these players? Rafa would do better, obviously. Because he'd drill the team, lots of repetition, he'd sort the defense out and have us playing with a clear shape and discipline. He'd basically maximise the strengths of the team, not the inidviduals.

You are so funny.

There's the crux of why we never score the goals we should be; how much did Van Persil cost? De Maria !!
Forget the bullshit that foreign players won't come to northern teams.  Look at Manchester City !!
If we paid the going rate and wages that is required for "strikers" we wouldn't be in this situation, regardless of the team having some less than ordinary defenders/goalies.  Who's to blame......... FSG or the "committee". ?????????

That definitely doesn't help, but even if there wage restrictions, there are still quality options available.

We had an aggressive front three last season, mobile players who worked the channels, run in behind, harried defenders. Speed and aggression.

We signed Lambert who is neither fast or aggressive, he doesn't have the energy for either. We bought Balotelli who used to be mobile, fast and aggressive in his early years at Inter, but for some reason wants to be Ibrahimovic and is doing very badly at it, though he he's not as bad as people have said, he's still been poor though.

From the transfer window to on the pitch, everything seems disorganised and thoughtless, thats the worrying thing. Not the results, which are bad enough, but the underlying performance which suggests things will get worse before they get better.

I can accept financial limitations but when our signings are so nonsensical, its hard to swallow.

That's the way I see it too.

Top four is fading fast. We need another 14 wins. Now from 22 games. Everything but title winning form from now on, and top four is completely out of the question. It's not impossible, but I wouldn't bet any money on it.

What we need to do now is get back to basics. Shape how we want to play and go with it. Prepare our game for next season. We might as well begin now, so this season has a purpose.

Rodgers: "It's very easy, we know what the solutions are. We just have to keep working and hopefully the confidence will return "

Very easy? Such a poor comment. Come on if you know the answers why aren't you implementing them, or are you waiting till we are out of all cups and near relegation till you put them into plan. Sounding like a man who has lost his way.

Pretty reminiscent of this fateful quote.

Quote
In a withering attack on Chelsea’s approach he suggested that it was “not difficult to coach to play defensive” and compared it to how Crystal Palace would line up against Liverpool next week.

No, but he never had Suarez in his team.

Rodgers has Suarez in his team and finished 7th.  Suarez isn't the be all and end all.  We had a game perfectly suited to him, cultivated by Rodgers.

Don't worry, everyone. There'll be at least one interview with a Liverpool player mid-week who will talk about how they all really, really want to do well and how the next game is the chance to turn things around and kickstart our season.

Then we'll have plenty on here falling for it, we'll get beat comfortably and it'll all happen again.

No, but he never had Suarez in his team.

Can we stop doing a lap of honour for last season? As Bob Paisley used to say:"You get nothing for yesterday".

So I'm guessing if we do hire a new manager we will only be considering them on their achievements this season?

Even if we did what I consider to be something foolish and sack Rodgers half-way through a season, who would replace him? Would this new manager even get funds for January, or would he have to use the players already at the club?

Today was humiliating, a total reverse of last season's game at the crack den, but I still think Rodgers can change things around in January.

You only defend better when you actually coach the players - Rodgers has proven in 3 seasons here he cannot coach a defence to improve, so no I don't agree it's "very easy" to fix the individual errors that has plagued his tenure here, and until he accepts that and gets help it won't be "very easy"

We all agree that players have to defend better, and of course, that is down to the manager and the players to sort out. I just think people are quick to pick up on comments that are standard managerial quotes and turn them into something they're not.

Buy a decent striker to replace suarez instead of spunking £40million on lovren and lallana

best ask the transfer committee why we didn't then.
instead he gets landed with Balotelli who he clearly didn't want.

So are the scouts who recommended him.

Rodgers talked up his "leadership qualities" and gushed about him so much you have to think he wanted him, a few months after signing Sakho who
is also a left sided CB it doesn't make much sense, less so now we've seen Lovren for half a season. Shouting and pointing a lot doesn't make you a leader you have
to lead by example and he's making far too many stupid mistakes.

at Southampton he had the protection of 2 defensive midfielders which of course are things anyone scouting him should have realised.
if we're going to be more open and play sometimes with no specialised defensive midfielder Sakho seems a much better fit.

BR: "Why bench Mignolet now? After Basel game, I felt I needed to make the change."

Why hasn't this been applied to erm Skrtel? Gerrard? Henderson? Allen? Lovren? Johnson? I don't like this favourtism, very sad that only players here before he got here or ones he actively wanted are exempt from being thrown under the bus..

Now I'm not saying Mignolet hasn't been poor, but jesus man Brad Jones dived the completely wrong way for the first goal - how is that even possible?

Lovren, Sakho and Moreno all look like far far worse defenders than when they started here. That in itself is damning. we're making half decent defenders terrible. we're ruining careers here.

Gerrard was woeful today too.

We aren't getting top 4 now, and I think we all know what that means for brendan, it's just a matter of time.

Perhaps the most melodramatic post I have ever seen on RAWK.

You're not wrong. The blame lies with the strikers today, not the manager.
And unfortunately he keeps playing Sterling as a striker when we all know his finishing is dire.
He's a wonderfully gifted lad but not a striker.
To start a game against Utd without a recognised striker is shameful.
They started with one of their youngsters up front.........why couldn't we if he doesn't want Borini?

It may sound silly to say this but we have far bigger issues at the moment than the striker situation. Into his third season here now with money to buy the defenders he wants yet Rodgers seems genuinely clueless on how to organise a defence. That is what is going to cost him going forward.

You are so funny.

There's nothing funny about it. Somebody like Rafa would do better with this crop of players. Under Brendan we can't score or keep goals out, well under Rafa we'd at least stop being soft as shite at the back. That's half the battle.

Rodger's showed so far that without Suarez he hasn't got an answer for goal scoring but he still can't get the defense to defend, or when he does, he drops a couple of them for no reason.

Pretty simple.

I would rather Toure start but Lovren fucked up once in the whole game ,is Rodgers to blame for him clearing it straight to their player ? Maybe they work on that in training eh ?

Lovrens been shite all season is more what Im getting at. Thats why he shouldnt have been included today

Fix the defence. Thats one job. Just do that. If we conceded just 1 today we'd have been in it right till the end. and very probably got a draw even.

Yeah all of them should get fired. Mike Marsh,Ayre and who ever else. Would only keep Pascoe and Brendan from the "committee". Although we were all against it on this site but FSG were spot on for wanting a Director of Football instilled because Rodgers has shown along with his buddies that he isn't that good at identifying players. I would also hope we add a new First Team coach in the mix too. These defensive errors are not synonymous with a team with our aspirations.

Yep.... can be an excellent coach, but maybe needs an experience DOF alongside him. Someone without a history with Rodgers.
But it's about whether Rodgers would be willing to accept that. If we don't get top 4, I doubt he'll be in a job come next summer.
