Booing has been around forever..(Paisley being booed by what felt like most of the Kop for substituting Craig Johnstone anyone?)....so to me, that on its own wouldn't be that bad....but factor in the iphone zombies and the half-and-half scarf brigade and it becomes a different ball game...a really shit one

And why is that? Mate you're not a better fan than anyone if you don't take a scarf or you don't wear a Liverpool shirt the match, these whoppers you all detest so much help fund the signings that should be performing better. People with there phones is to be expected, technology has moved on since the days we reigned supreme, half of you amazing superfans would've been doing the same I guarantee it if technology was where it is now in our glory years... Technology has evolved and that's spread everywhere, people are never off their phones and its none of our business if they choose to text their mate saying waste of money, or theyll be home in 20 minutes to the missus and make sure you wash me half and half scarf.

I didn't comment on people using their phones during the match and I have no problem with it.

As for the scarfs... I'd rather people who wear a half-half scarf with Chelsea or Everton colours support a different club. It's not like our club is capable of spending the extra transfer money properly anyway. If they had more money this window they'd have probably have just been mugged up to 30 million for Lovren or Lallana by Southampton instead of 25.

Booing has been around ever since i have been watching.

Fans pay their entry fee & can boo all they want, its their choice if & when to look a complete twat.

There can be a valid point to air your disapproval, knowledge & timing is key to stoop to those depths of frustration although i must add, booing is not in my vocabulary.

Wasnt that long after our dream team of 87-88  that fans were openly booing just because we didnt win games and the other team were having too much of the ball...i distinctly remember sheff wednesday scoring a goal at anfield think it made the score 1-1..it wasnt a great goal  but many appluded the goal, this after booing and showing their discontent,   it was  90-91 im certain  so what 2 years after the dream team?

Let me try and explain it to you in simple terms because you clearly don't understand.

If you wear a half and half Liverpool/ Chelsea scarf then you are actually wearing Chelsea colours. That, imo, negates your right to call yourself a Liverpool supporter. You should fuck off and support somebody else because you clearly don't understand what this club is all about.

Just a suggestion,  If a person has to be banned then the person who recommended them should be banned for the same length of time.

It's gone beyond a joke now, good people have left and been replaced by idiots, take a peek into the "Steven Gerrard" thread, absolutely disgraceful. Take a look into the "News and Current Affairs" if you dare, if you have a different opinion to those who are constantly in it then the sharks start to feed, nobody is allowed an opinion, if it differs from theirs.

Apparently in the Sandon everyone has fun and likes the Reds, in the ground 'most of them' just want to shout stuff at the team and dont sing.

There's been plenty of booing the last 24 years, with the west ham game at home under Rafa the stand out for me. The simple reason is we ain't the best anymore so we boo. We didn't gave cause to boo before because we were the best but folklore has turned that into we are a more educated fan or better supporters.
I know this view won't be liked but that's the facts .

Please don't be silly and blame the day trippers for this.

On the one hand you want to say they don't sing nor add to the atmosphere and now when all isn't rosy you want to blame them for actively killing the atmosphere. Get off your high horses and realise it is not just one demographic who boos, moans and doesn't sing.

I personally follow a lot of local scousers on twitter and theyre very active in calling for Rodgers' head..

In short, let's not be silly and adopt a UKIP like stance and blame it all on the foreigners - we've been pants on the field and off the field we aren't covering ourselves in glory..

Not quite full,but almost.

Generate your income elsewhere to subsidise the extortionate entry fee that currently fends off many fans who would love to afford to go.

Every ground should be capped at £20,if you want to eat prawn sandwiches,go fucking eat them in a box.

To be fair, with the general mood that had been building during the match, as we watched the defence trying their best to self destruct again, the wave of booing that followed that substitution decision was quite contagious.

I felt myself on the brink of joining in and the only thing I could think of to stop myself was to stand up and applaud Can and Coutinho off the pitch.

But as I say, the levels of frustration nearly did for me, so I can understand why some might have given in to it without really thinking about what they were doing.  I've never booed at Anfield before (and doubt I ever will) except when I was watching an England match and booed the fuck out of Gary Neville throughout, despite the Cockney protestations all around me.

Because in the Sandon everybody can stand around together and have a bevvy. At the match you're sat there sobering up surrounded by people you don't know who lost their passion for Liverpool + football many years ago and now just go to the game year upon year out of habit + fear of losing season ticket

A lot of truth in this.  The best thing that a new ground with a larger capacity can bring is ticket availability on a game by game basis, perhaps even the return of pay on the gate for league games.  If that happens it will bring about a collapse in the black market for tickets which means that lots of ST holders you move their ticket on more often than they go will actually hand the ST in.  If it reaches a tipping point then it could spiral and lead to a more fluid but passionate fanbase.

I sincerely hope it plays out in this way, but much of the extra capacity is for corporate clients

Well done with this thread, first time a managers decision has been booed at anfield? Bollocks. Bored shitless of this holier than thou self righteous shite.

Rafa's subs were regularly booed as were Houllier's and Hodgson's. Kenny got a pass because he's Kenny.

It's not a new thing. The subs yesterday were poor (we needed subs made early second half not sit back and wait till it's 2-1 to change things when it was effectively game over) but if you're at the game you don't boo your own side. Simple as that.

It was a weird one that yesterday and it wasn't a small group. As soon as Can's number went up the boo's were immediate, loud and wide-ranging but it did seem mostly from the Kop from were I was in the CS. I was disappointed but it never even cross my mind to express my feelings, yet so many did.

Unarguably things have changed since even just the 90's, but as a few people have said and I keep going on about it - there have always been moaners at the ground. Even post WW2 when it was crammed with 50,000 working class scousers.

The thing with the moaners though are that some of them are so fucking negative thats all they have to offer. A couple of Geordies sat behind us for the Swansea Capital Cup game and you could tell one just wanted things to go wrong so he could moan. The twat thrived on any error and highlighted them, remonstrating to his mate about the inadequacies of anyone in a red shirt. A few minutes from the end at 1-1 he exclaimed "I've got a 4 hour drive home after this fucking shite", and then we scored.

I had to restrain myself from requesting that he didn't fucking drive back, ever.

But like I said, yesterday was really odd, there was a collective outcry.

I think it was just a huge outburst of everybody's frustration + sadness of how the season/transfer window has gone after last year. People thought we were back at the top playing beautiful football, now we're back here again.

When we beat Spurs at Anfield last year there was a huge roar of pure passion and emotion and belief, this is sort of the polar opposite.

I argued against 'superfanning' earlier in this thread, so I'll look a bit of a hypocrite here, but I think booing the team or manager is just fucking stupid and not on at all. I can understand how frustration builds, god knows I felt it yesterday, but it's out of order when you're at the game.

As somebody who has a very on and off relationship with religion - I wouldn't stand up in church and have a barney with the vicar if he said something I didn't agree with, but if I saw him at the pub later I might have a chat about it with him.

I think it's the same at the ground. There's a time and a place for these things. Have all the discussion you want when you go for a bevvy after, or when you log on here. When you're at Anfield, that's our church, that's a time to show an almost irrational level of faith and support, following blindly almost in spite of yourself.

Booing has always been there and often the worst frustration is after a great season. Remember in 01/02 Danny Murphy getting booed off in a game and Carragher taking some real stick. Shortly after Istanbul Rafa was getting booed with substitutions the crowd didn't like (and he'd usually be vindicated). Hodgson took some real stick at times.

Rodgers isn't going to be immune to what other managers weren't when we're underachieving and making a real balls up of the season so far. The crowd have been very patient with him up until yesterday so it's quite telling really that frustration is boiling over now. Frustration will always be manifested in some way, especially at 56 quid a ticket. For me, you don't boo at a match but if it's bottled up then it makes it worse when it is released.

And people who pay nearly 60 quid a match expect to be entertained for their outlay. The club can't have it both ways unfortunately. They've priced thousands of supporters out.

Didn't agree with the substitutions....and must admit I may have gone.."hmmm.." ....but the booing shocked me and it wasn't the  'minority'....I also had the audacity too applaud Mario as he went off...and much to my surprise was challenged on this from a bloke  in front of me.." why the fuck is he getting applauded, he's fucking shite!!?" ..."well.." I replied politely" he worked his socks off with shite service...and if you look very very carefully...you'll see he is wearing.....a Liverpool shirt!!"

Everyone is entitled to moan and grumble in the pub afterwards....you'd be fucking weird not too after results this season....but in the ground we are there together despite how pissed off you may feel.

Btw from a historic point of view I recall Bob Paisley being booed for subbing Craig Johnston for " playing too well for rest of the team"....quite shocking at the time too...a subject of much discussion....mainly because of novelty value!!

Much as I would love to cull some of the bellends in the ground yesterday I'm afraid that goes some way beyond our moderation remit.  Our fanbase is fucked, football is fucked, many of the users on RAWK reflect that.  I'm flattered by your view of our omnipotence but we're not going to be able to change that.

We are all alone.....there is no Mod!

It's all because the wools are getting tickets ahead of proper scouse supporters.

I haven't been to Anfield since we beat spurs 2-0 in 2010. I was sat on the kop and the atmosphere was shite. I was surrounded by a mix of scousers and whoppers, both as bad as each other... Wanker hats, half and half scarfs etc. Prior to that I had been to anfield a lot over the years and sat/stood in pretty much every part of the ground. Moaning is nothing new. Some of the 50+ year old scouse ST holders in the main stand are the worst... Fucking embarrassing the shite they come out with.

Personally I would never boo the team and always try to support in the ground. Unfortunately 60 quid a ticket has kind of priced me going out of the game now as I have other things to worry about and the prices are now beyond the means of the average fan. You are left with a large contingency of moaning fuckers sitting on their ST, or day trippers from east anglia more than happy to stump up the cash to take some photos. The only answer is to get more youngsters in by dropping prices and bringing back standing sections. Neither likely to happen

The mods said they were going to have a cull, still waiting for it to start

Just a suggestion,  If a person has to be banned then the person who recommended them should be banned for the same length of time.

It's gone beyond a joke now, good people have left and been replaced by idiots, take a peek into the "Steven Gerrard" thread, absolutely disgraceful. Take a look into the "News and Current Affairs" if you dare, if you have a different opinion to those who are constantly in it then the sharks start to feed, nobody is allowed an opinion, if it differs from theirs.

I have made some good friends in here (RAWK)

hope this is a wind up mate- I know loads of scousers that aren't up to the job, but because they are scousers think they have a divine right to shout non scousers down, in fact its become fair game for scousers t seek out OOTers and jump on their back because of their accent.  I remember Blackburn away 2009 December 0-0 draw   Ngog missed a sitter at the Darwen end , pure frustration after the game,  remember some fucking dickhead I know from Huyton targeting an OOTer because of his accent and stated 2 fuck off you wool your not even scouse"  you know what I would have taken that wool over the prick from Huyton anyday as he has come on the seen , bit of cash and suddenly he is Poor Scouser Tommy. Far too many whoppers and modern day fans. game over unfortunately.  How I remember football pre 1989, different world it really was.

This country is full of wankers and knobs....just wait till the general election when UKIP will pick up loads of votes...as we have a national fan base  Anfield is a reflection of that society...it used to reflect the working class society of Merseyside...sadly that and the 'Spirit of Wacker' is long gone...replaced by the 'Spite of Wanker'!

forgot to add- I blame Ian Ayre- don't know why he just pisses me off and when I think of Modern Football I cant get  this odious little twat out of my mind.  I know it isn't his fault , but for some reason I link him with all that is shit with modern LFC.

And people who pay nearly 60 quid a match expect to be entertained for their outlay. ...
This is what I don't get though. Whether you pay 60 quid or 6 quid, it's still football. Sometimes football doesn't go the way you hoped. Ironically, that's actually all part of the 'entertainment'.

It's not like going for a meal, where you've every right to complain if you get a crap meal or crap service.
I've heard a lot of celtic fans complain recently that going to the game is too boring now because they just win every week. It's the ups and downs of football that make it entertaining.

We lost 2-1 yesterday against a top side, having scored first. Ok, we lost, but how is that not entertaining?
Football is sport, it's not a service industry.
