Not surprised really. When the likes of Paulinho gets picked even though hes barely kicked a ball this season its tells you all you need to know about Luiz Scolari and his tactics.

Most of their star players have had poor or pedestrian seasons so they look poor now. But remember they breezed past Spain 3-0 in the confederations cup a year ago. They'll challenge.

It's an alright squad with a very good defence and capable attack but you really have to wonder if that midfield has got the experience and flair to win it. Apart from Oscar, Bernard and Willian to an extent (not great going forward) there's not much attack mid quality and not all of those 3 will start

From listening to what Tim Vickery says, it seems that Scolari has had his squad in mind for a while and the amount of playtime they get or the form they're in was going to have very little influence.

Surprised Lucas (PSG) is left out as even though not playing regularly his rapidness off the bench if needed could have been a huge asset. Would have liked to see our two in the squad as its a chance of a life time but really both have better players in their positions. Henrique has won the lottery! May be getting games at Napoli but really is a dog average player.

I have to say, that looks quite underwhelming. Anyway, it'll be really difficult for anyone to beat them. The atmosphere and the pressure on the refs will factor in massively.

It feels like a well planned squad in defence and midfield, 2 players to a position, a player like Henrique who can cover all right / centre left full back and centre mid positions as safety etc, don't know about the quality in attack though, Lucas Moura could have given them something extra.

It's the first Brazil world cup squad I can remember without genuine 'stars', Neymar's the closest perhaps, but even he has a bit of proving to do in europe still.

Just saying that whilst on paper they don't have the best squad when it comes to the tournament with home advantage they have as good a chance as anyone.

He has taken Luiz as a centre half and he was barely played a game there in 1 and a half years.

Can't agree with that.

I haven't watched the French league but Lucas hasn't been that good apparently. Our Lucas has been in and out of the squad and Coutinho in my opinion has been good bit not so good that he'd be starting if he went and I don't think he's been as effective as has been made out.

The only real exception is Filipe Luis for me.
