Eto'o, Hazard, Terry and Cech all were confirmed injured and Ramires banned. Makes sense for them not to travel...Torres, Luiz and Willian on the other hand. Who's going to the be centre back pairing if Luiz isn't there??

Well - and as stated probably 100 times in this thread - Cech is out for the season, Ramires is out for the season, Terry is out for the season (might be back for the CL final if they make it), Eto'o got hurt ahead of the Atletico game, Hazard is coming off a 3 week layoff and is needed for the next Atletico game - so it really makes sense if they didn't come.

Torres, Willian, and Luiz are pretty much going to have to start the Atletico 2nd leg so Whininho isn't going to risk them.

No real shockers there.

I know a lot of us seem to think that Chelsea will 'park the bus' as it were and defend pretty deep tomorrow but I do wonder if they will maybe try and match our usual starts by playing aggressively from the beginning as well. They obviously won't have their strongest team out but with Atletico coming up on Wednesday, they won't want to be behind early on and then have to go chasing the result. It would suit them to start well, get ahead and then attack on the transition. Mourinho very much knows how to control space and it's system that suits them more than having to chase and attack against a mid-to-low block. If they were behind early on against us, a team which is phenomenal on the break, they would find themselves in a lot of trouble. It's maybe an outside bet but it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to get an aggressive start against us tomorrow and maybe pressed for an advantage early on.

Luiz & Ramires are the only holding mids available for him on Wednesday, he won't risk Luiz getting injured then playing with only Ramires as a holding mid against Atletico.
