Brief Overview

In this draft, you will have a budget of £100million.  You will place blind bids for as many players listed in an auction as you want in each of 12 rounds. with all players having started a 'Classic Match'.  The highest bidding participant will win that player for £1million more than the next highest bidder.  You are essentially bidding the maximum amount you want to spend on a player.

The Rules

  • Each round, up to 22 new players are added to the player pool, all of whom started a specific ‘classic match’ (in some cases, it won’t be 22 players as some will already have been made available in previous rounds)
  • Your squad is limited to 14 players
  • If you exceed your squad size, you must dispose of a player immediately, not receiving any money in return
  • If you do not select the players to be disposed of before the end of the next window, the draft organiser will choose for you (and you won’t like it)
  • You can transfer or exchange players to/with other participants, either by hosting your own public auction in the relevant thread, or through Private Messaging
  • If your squad exceeds 14 players, you have a transfer embargo (for selling and acquiring) until you have disposed of your excess players
  • You can dispose of players at any point into the player pool, but won’t receive any money for them
  • You can bid for as many players as you like in any round as long as the total bid does not exceed your bank balance, and you discard players if your squad limit is exceeded
  • If the highest maximum bid for a player is matched by two or more participants, the player remains in the player pool
  • If after 12 rounds, a participant has less than 11 players, sheep picks will be made by the draft organiser to fill the team

Examples:

  • Two participants bid for player A.  Participant 1 bids £8million, participant 2 bids £5million.  Participant 1 wins the player for £6million
  • A participant bids for 15 separate players in the first round and wins all 15.  Before the end of the next window, the participant must choose one of the 15 players to discard into the player pool.  They can choose to discard more if they want to.  As soon as one is discarded, they can then publicly auction one or more of their players in the relevant thread, or sell via arrangement  through PM
  • A participant bids £100million for one player in the first round.  Another player bids £99million.  The first participant wins the player.  If they keep this player throughout the draft, they will have their team filled with 10 sheep

Presumably you can put up a player for auction at any point, not just if you have 14+ players and not just in the round subsequent to when you bought them?

Is there a deadline each round for letting you know which players you'd like to throw into the auction?

Also, what happens to a player that you put up for auction on which there are no bids? Does he return to your squad as if you'd never put him up for auction? Would that block you from picking up another player in a round where you were allowed to bid?
You can sell a player whenever you like.  Not through the blind auction though.  You could just post to say 'Anyone want Player X for £5million'.  If someone replies and says 'I'll give you 3million' and you agree to sell, the deal is done.

Alternatively, you could hold your own blind auction through pms, or advertise players for sale and ask for pms etc.  You might even bid for players not advertised etc.  there are no restrictions.  Just confirm in the selection thread when trades are completed.

If you try and fail to sell and your squad is full, you can't bid in the blind auction, unless you dispose of a player for nothing into the pool.

I provide a list of players up for auction.  You pm with bids for as many or as few as you like (as long as you have the money in your balance).  You win every player you bid the most for, but only  pay 1million more than the next highest bid.

Any player without a clear winning bid stays in the pool for the next round.

At any point, you can sell or trade players, or throw players away for nothing to free up squad space.

Yes, we'll need them posting in the draft thread when they are confirmed.  Negotiations etc can take place in here or through pms.

How does that work?

For example, if you sell a player or throw a player away how do you know what price the player goes for? and does that revenue presumably  increase your budget?

If you throw away a player, you get nothing.  If you sell a player, it has to be to a fellow participant, you  get what they pay you.

You'll have 24 hours for each round, so if it starts this evening, you'll still be able to make your bids up to about 7pm tomorrow.

Vote? Vote?

Do you think this is some kind of democracy?  I'll evaluate all the teams at the end and name myself the winner even with no team.

Or we might just do the regular four groups, quarters, semis and final.

I'll play this if there's room for one more. I'll be happy to team up as well becuae there might be days when I might not be available. With the player pool, there won't be a lot of researching required and it would be easy to get the picks across with a quick look so I'm willing to give this a shot alone to make up the numbers. I assume this is a 24 hour format draft?
