Liverpool vs Swansea | Sunday 23rd Feb | 1:30pm
« on: February 20, 2014, 09:59:36 am »
12 games to go, in what is proving to be the closest we've come to potentially bringing the Premier League trophy to Anfield since 2008/9.

4 points behind Chelsea in 1st. 3 points behind Arsenal in 2nd.

What a season. What a chance. Welcome to the show.

Game 1 of 12: Swansea at Anfield.

Bring it on.

Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho. Rip them to shreds.

Show them we mean business.

Show no mercy.

Let's do this.

They play Napoli. Get 2 days of rest and then come to us for a match. We have to be strong favourites. If we play to our ability, we will win.

Could see a back 4 of Flanno Sktrel Agger Johnson.
The rest will be as you would expect it to be I suppose.

City, Chelsea and Arsenal all play before us. So we'll have that added pressure or incentive of knowing a win will keep us up with them or help us make up ground on them.

I'm excited.

Mike Jones has been appointed for this one, can't say it's a massive improvement.

Cissokho surely ahead of Johnson by now. Maybe Glen gets 30 min tho?

yeah, but it wasn't against:

- either one of the other big teams so he didn't have to shit out of any decisions,
- nor was it against his beloved Red Devils so he didn't have to give them any decisions.

See what I did there  ;)

Swansea shouldn't prove too much of a problem, if we can do the business in the first half we can cruise in the second, maybe give a few younger lads (Teixeira) some minutes. I cant see them having much in the tank after Napoli. Hope Luis gets a few goals too, he's been unlucky the past few games.

Really looking forward to this after the disappointing loss in the FAC.

Onwards and upwards, starting with a demolition of Swansea.

Both Suarez and Sturridge will be dying to get their teeth into this.  GRRR!

Can't see anything other than a big win. We were unlucky against Arsenal and the group always react well after a loss. 4-0, Sturridge to bag a couple to make up for his recent goal drought.

We need to get in their faces early, make sure there's no complacence, stop Britton and co getting on the ball too much and playing it out to their dangerous wide men. Do that and we should bag the points.

Hope Luis and Sturridge get on the scoresheet, they are so out of form ;)

Suarez needs to find his shooting boots again, 1 goal in 7 games, although he has chipped in with assists (and hit the woodwork a few times).

If the team score early, it will be a long day for Swansea, just hope we don't get bogged down trying to get the first goal.

Swansea can play a bit and have a few decent footballers.

Surely they'll be pretty tired after their Uefa cup endeavours. We need to roll them over by a few to keep confidence sky high.

I'd love to see Luis back on the scoresheet.

They have put in some good performances under Gary Monk since the sacking, were ok against Everton until the self inflicted lost.

It won't be easy, games in this league never are. But we should be winning this.

To be brutally honest I think we'll be lucky to have a good atmosphere. Sunday lunchtime kick offs are always a quiet because plenty of people are nursing hangovers, and there's not much time to get to the pub beforehand.

Thats not to say I won't be doing my best!

Swansea are gonna be fatigued after Napoli, and to make things better they don't really have anything to play for in the league. I wouldn't be surprised if they play a majority of their subs/reserves.

The bottom half of the table is very compact. They may be 10th but they're only 4 points away from Sunderland who are in the relegation zone. On the contrary I feel they'll be sending their best squad out to try secure a draw, at least.

Beware the new manager syndrome. Man's still in his honeymoon period.

But this is still a game we should be winning quite easily given our firepower.  Happy to see the same line-up as v Arsenal if Henderson and Sakho are still not 100%.  Otherwise swap out Allen for Henderson.

Expecting a strong reaction to Sundays referring farce at the Emirates, fast start and a high temp pressing performance.

If we play towards the top of our game the only way any team is the league is getting something is good fortune or incompetence from officials.

But still one game won't impact them as much. In the long run they have more quality then sides like west broom, palace, fulham, sunderland, and cardiff. Its a safe bet they'll escape relegation.
