Figured he would be back as soon as Rodgers was settled and I guess the start to the season does that.
Not only the greatest living person associated with the club, but a man who has lead two different teams to the title, who has managed many a cup campaign to victory, a man who was a part of the bootroom. A man who can be trusted to always care about the club above anything else, no matter what. It doesn't matter how much power his title is intended to allow him, you invite Kenny into the boardroom you are going to get away with absolutely nothing that is not in the best interests of the club.
Hopefully we can keep the good mood going by absolutely thumping Crystal Palace.

What FANTASTIC news to wake up to. Great start to my weekend.

Incidentally.......when was this picture taken?

That was taken on the last evening of the transfer window, when every other club was still scratching around for last minute deals. Our club had a 100 year memorial dinner for one of their own. Bill Shankly.

Enough said.

Lovely news to wake up to.

Have one eye on Ajax, a memory of long discussions a few years ago on building the club and putting in place something similar to what Bayern Munich have done successfully (this long before last year's CL win) - tie this is with Rodgers bringing Mike Marsh into the coaching set-up and grabbing a few players with a bit of nouse (Rob Jones, Macca and God) to come into the club too.

Glad Rodgers sees the value of that football nouse about the club. Just having that experience and love for the club around to help influence debate and discussion in the boardroom can be important. Sure Kenny himself will remember how Bob performed that role for him.

Totally chuffed about this.

Doubters will be questioning fsg's motives but having a proper Lfc man such as Dalglish at boardroom level can be nothing but good.

There's a proper feel good factor around the club currently and it's great! Well done all round.

I've lately warmed up to this DoF fad, and especially as BD is still a bit unproven at the top level I thought it would be a good idea to have a pair of senior eyes wathing over the football side of things.

BD was vehemently against a FOD though, and can't blame him for it really.

I think this is a best compromise available and perhaps we can now tick off the FoD thingie from the list of unfinished tasks.

Scouting seems to have been sorted, now this. It seems FSG is finally having the mgmt structure in place which can only be good for the club  :)

I think it's a good move for all parties and I am pleased the wounds appear to have been healed.

Kenny is my hero, it hurt when he was sacked and he was distant from the club for a while. He always had too much class to ever come out and harm the club but I'm pleased that he is now back on the inside.

He still holds a lot of pull with the fans and has a lot of knowledge, respect and influence in football which we can utilise.

Long live the King.

Sorry but I don't see anything wrong in what he has said. Kenny was never 'binned' in the first place. FSG just didn't find him suitable for the manager job so took the decision to replace him for the good of the club and found another role for him. Nothing wrong in that.

Anyways, welcome back the King !!!!!!!!!!!!

He DID not find another role for him! He SACKED him.

In our day such behaviour would never go without comment. It's dawned on Henry - much too late for any praise from him about Kenny's specialness in my opinion!

Well a slip of the tongue there mate  ::) ::) - but right is right in my book. Delighted that Kenny has shown such dignity throughout. He's a very special fella.

Except that there's no chance Kenny will be appointed again. If he wasn't manager just two years ago then maybe, but not now. Those two will work together perfectly, Brendan wouldn't have given the go ahead otherwise.

So The King drinks Peroni and Brendan drinks JD &C eh?  Two of my favourite drinks! All the more reason the love them.

Good point. No better example. I love the fact we've now got a direct link to Paisley and thereby to Shankly in an influential role. It seems that is Rodgers' particular motivation in green-lighting this appointment, which is one of the reasons I am optimistic about him and where he's taking us.
