Craig Johnston sixty minutes on lfc.tv
« on: September 7, 2012, 10:03:23 pm »
Don't know if this was a repeat or not and I only caught the last 20 minutes, Craig Johnston is the real deal.
What a genuine bloke.
Glad to hear he got his league medal and a meeting of minds with Kenny in the end.

Great guy, great memories.

(*24/7 - disclaimer - I didn't change the text in the OP.....but the original title was looking a bit.....rocky..... ;D )

I`ve recorded this today. His interview with Keys and Gray on Talkshite was inspirational.
That right peg hits it and you see the future arc of the ball and time goes al gluey like a Dali painting, and for a second there's a 20yr old StevenGerrard and your young self cheering him on through the prism. His big smile fades in an the net is shivering and J.Hart's trying not to look grateful for the privilege of being that close to greatness

i watched the majority of it and i really enjoyed it. He stopped playing for us around the year i was born so was nice to get more insight of what the behind the scenes was like back then. Thought he was very genuine and interesting, the whole SGG and having a key cut made me laugh.

He's a lovely  bloke. I had the  pleasure of interviewing him a couple of years ago, and when I sent him the copy so  that he could check it was all okay, he just asked me to put in a few criticisms! I didn't of course, but it's typical of what a modest and good-natured man he is.

Just saw this for the first time. What a humble guy.Struggled to hold back the tears myself. Was sad to see him retire early although we didn't know at the time why.He was everything a liverpool player should be.He ran himself into the ground EVERY time he played. Will forever remember his cup final goal in our first double season.

Shit, missed it. I think Joe Fagan thwarted his career, he didn't get as many starts under the great man.

I hope I don't get this locked but Kuyt was the very poor mans Craig Johnston. I loved him for his contribution to success and loved him for his genuine despair after Hillsborough.

Inspirational.

From a time when "values" weren't just linked to revenue streams.
Should be compulsory viewing for all the mercenaries, agents, owners and whingers.
This is the programme that should have been called "Being Liverpool".

It was simply brilliant to watch this. I didn't know he came back during the Hillsborough tragedy.

I didn't expect such an open and heartfelt interview and it really took me aback in regards to the emotion and regard he holds the club in.

Possibly the best 60 mins interview any one will see

Clearly a man who gets life and football in perspective, but at the same understands now what it means to have pulled on the shirt.  Should be shown to all of the current squad; would teach them a thing or two about life on and off the pitch.

I missed this the other day and was gutted because Craig was my favourite player growing up, so I will definitely be watching the video of it tomorrow (thanks for that by the way). During his playing days, it was his enthusiasm that I liked. That and the fact he seemed like a nice fella. Everything that he did after playing for us, and what came out afterwards, just backs up my initial perceptions for me. Can't wait to watch it. He got a touch on that ball in the cup final too, no doubt.

Was looking forward to this. It's always worth listening to Johnston, but even more so at a time when fans are becoming increasingly more detached from the players. Of all the moments in his career, he highlighted the appreciation he received (and still receives) from Liverpool fans as his proudest achievement. I severely doubt there's many in the game today who value the supporters as much as that.

Always comes across as an incredibly modest guy. I'm too young to have ever watched him, but he's right up there with my favorite ex-players.

As others have said, surely his passion could be channeled into some sort of role at the club today?
