Really pleased with the performance other than the stupid mistakes of course. The Anfield crowd were fantastic today as well which really helped lift the players. However, getting up for games like this has never been the problem, the problem is replicating the effort and commitment shown today against the bottom half quality teams. Whether we can do that or not will be crucial in determining whether we can challenge for the European Cup places this season.

Allen was my best player on the pitch, just his vision in finding players in space is a joy to watch, great purchase. Also Shelvey coming on for Lucas and playing the game that he did was fantastic also. The kid has a big engine running from box to box he can hold his head high tried his absolute best and that's what we want to see, so well done to the lad.

behave needless flick he is a defender his first thought is to go for that ball. Fucking needless flick. jesus

So you don't think Reina called to Skrtel that he was coming out to claim? You don't think there was a breakdown in communication?

Fucking Max Payne at Left back was dire.

And we have Sahin to play. Brilliant.

Gutting result but still felt very different to all those draws at home last season. There's a feel of more potency and drive.

Definitely time to lose this 'our own enemy' issue and I really feel Rodgers is the man to do that.

I think most of us would have settled for 2-2 before the game...and Im sure all of us would have settled for the home debut's that Sterling & Allen turned in....

Anyway- encouraging performance, though I feel a bit for Rodgers, us, Skrtel and Allen. You could see the disappointment in the wee man's eyes in his post-match. He had to force himself to be professional.

But fuck all that! Bring on those sissies from London and let's have 'em!

The Skrtel giveth and The Skrtel taketh away. Anyone would have take a point before it started. Something to build on for sure.
The one most important thing that we all must remember, in case it slipped our mind, is this club is much more important and bigger than anybody. I'll never forget that and anybody that does is being a wee bit irresponsible and stupid I think because the club is more important than any one individual. The Club is, The Club.

Really hard but at least we did better with chances etc. Outplayed the champions with two back up defenders for most of the game. If we can play like this the enxt 5 matches it will be immense.

I disagree, mate as Swansea have rarely conceded that sort of goal. It was just a mistake, it's not the first time that has happened to us and it won't be the last.

We played really well and should really have won against the Champions.
Allen was awesome and just shows how a good touch, vision and awareness makes such a difference.
Skertl and Coates were a good pair and that was some header.
Sterling was very good
Suarez was everywhere (just glad his passion didn't get the best of him)

Season starts now lads.....

Swansea conceded EXACTLY that type of goal early last season. They even did so at home against a team from Manchester!

http://www.standard.co.uk/sportheadlines/rangel-not-to-blame--rodgers-6370058.html

Quote
Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers refused to blame Angel Rangel after the defender's error helped Manchester United to a 1-0 win at the Liberty Stadium.

The Spaniard's careless pass out of defence was seized upon by Ryan Giggs, who duly set up Javier Hernandez for the Mexico international to slide home the winner in just the 11th minute.

The result ended Swansea's unbeaten home record this season, but Rodgers said: "The blame is on me, I ask the players to play that way."

Rodgers continued: "He could have had his touch and smashed the ball up the pitch, he was just slightly off balance trying to play around the corner.

We look to pass our way out of trouble."

if you had said it would be a 2-2 draw alot of people on here would have took it,after that performance i think we were robbed.

passing the ball out of defence is a work in progress and wthe players are just getting used to it so there will be a few mistakes, thought we defended quite well all in all.

pepe=someone said he was flapping all game, must have been watching a different game to me
kelly,johnson,skrtel,coates=all played well(skrtels mistake(s)apart)
allen=bargain at ฃ15 million
lucas=poor bastard seems cursed at the minute
gerrard=played well, not the vintage gerrard but still played well
borini=lively, needs to get in the box more
suarez=quality freekick, lively, caused kompany problems all game, needs to keep his gob shut though
sterling=17 :o,gonna be a star

shelvey=probably his best game for LFC
carroll=looked up for it when he came on,if we dont sell him(hope we dont)could play a big part in our season

rodgers=didnt put a foot wrong today, team, formation, tactics all spot on.

future looks good

If you had asked anyone before the game they would of taken 2-2.. Now it feels like we were robbed - don't think there was anything but positives from that game. Rodgers showed he will make the tough decisions and it paid off massively, we now know we can rely on Coates/Sterling/Shelvey.

Let's not forget our average age was approx 24 before kickoff, once Lucas went off it went down to 23.. That bolds very well for our future!

Uh, yes.  I guess I'll have to apologise for having a different opinion to yours?

Yes, in answer to the implied dispute, I did watch the game.  Those two players, more than anyone else on our squad, were a bit anonymous.  As I said in the post you quoted, I wouldn't want to really say that they were the worst players, simply that if you had to pick someone (as the person I was responding to had), I wouldn't pick Skrtel.  I guess you disagree and thought that Gerrard and Borini were among the best performers in our side today.  I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Luckily, I think that Lucas' injury will be made less impactful with the signing of Sahin.

I thought we played really well, and I can't say I'm upset with the result either. Yeah, the way that we gave the game away with two lapses of judgement are highly disappointing, but I'd have gladly taken a point for a draw before the match. I think we're going to be fired up and absolutely take Arsenal to town next week. Exciting times.

And Joe Allen. What a player.

Did we keep possession well?

Did we create many chances?

Who had good and bad games?

How serious is Lucas's injury?

interesting seeing us shape up without lucas today or someone replacing him.....allen did the job as well as anyone could and was outstanding......gerrard and shelvey actually both did really well, pressing the right areas and keeping the ball well, shelvey showed plenty of composure today

possibly need more time to gel going forward, as we are tending to rely still on suarez' ability to get turned and create something, with cameos from sterling (impressive) and borini....borini seemed more part of a plan, but is still not showing enough composure on the ball, whilst sterling is a bons at the moment and will fantastic as he grows into the squad/team and we play more fluently

all in, no real negatives as we continue to improve, but unfortunately sloppy individual errors cost us again....don't thin any of the errors that have cost us in either game can be put down to style of play, more down to lack of concentratin and poor judgement .....skrtel has cost a goal in each game now, and that is a problem he needs to address as otherwise hs performance was dominant

all positive signs, but as with last weekend, we are a work in progress and we will develop over time, all we can hope for now is that we continue to improve and players more and more want to get on board

But they can score, when we give the ball away with a wank back-pass like we did once today and almost once or twice before that. I'm not saying twatting the ball should be the ultimate response to every tricky situation, but neither should playing a back-pass to the keeper when under immense pressure. Playing it out from the back (i.e. playing it forward) is okay, because even if you lose the ball, you have a chance of getting it back. Passing it backwards is asking for trouble, because whenever there is the slightest fuck-up the striker is one vs. one with the keeper. There is no reason to keep the ball at every cost. I'd rather concede a throw-in than a one on one with the keeper...

Then you either do not understand or do not appreciate the philosophy that Rodgers is instilling. How many times will a player gift a back-pass like that? It might not happen again all season. But every time we follow your idea and play the ball out the opposition has possession in our half which accumulates pressure and gives them a chance to score anyway. The problem was not the back pass it was that he didn't execute it correctly. Practice makes perfect.

Yeah can't agree with you on that one. Borini was a little terrier out there and Gerrard had a decent day just over shadowed in midfield form Allen and Shelvey being excellent, but still managed an assist and his shot is what won the free kick, so two assists really from Gerrard.

Skrtel was immense up until the pass back but in fairness Allen, Shelvey, Coates or Enrique should have helped him out a bit more.
