The Optimistic Thread
« on: August 20, 2012, 10:16:00 PM »
So who else here has a feeling deep down inside that over the last few seasons and right up to this point, there would come a 'eureka moment'...where everything inexplicably falls into place and results start consistently going our way? Maybe the word inexplicably is wrong here because the last couple of seasons results have been inexplicable. What I mean is 'expectedly'

Because I do and I think that time is now.

Like a wounded beast who has had enough of the 'shite' as I like to call it (performances, results, refereeing, woodwork, low conversion rates etc etc), I think the result on Saturday is just what we needed to kick start this seasons campaign. And I'm glad it came in the first game of the season instead of a couple of wins and draws only acting to lull the players and manager into a false sense of security.

The same thing has happened to United just now losing to Everton - that is a dangerous result for every other team they have to play against, including us. Thats why I have a feeling with both of our backs against the wall the clash between Liverpool and United has the potential to be a real classic.

I just have this feeling anyway that from now - we will hit heights that we haven't seen in a few years. The conditions are perfect. The players will ALL get their confidence as per their previous clubs and performances, BR style of play will 'gel' with immediate effect, Carroll and Suarez start knocking them in for fun with Borini and Gerrard adding to the goal tally.

Our defense - will now become immense. Skrtl signed up and hungry. Agger quietly focussing for his return and Reina is looking at his best.

Mark my words. The conditions are favourable for an immediate turn of fortune.

We're on the same points as united and spurs. One behind arsenal.
Suarez had no right to score that one but then again he is Suarez and he doesn't give a fuck.

It's not until you've experienced the absolute of darkness that you can truly appreciate the light when it arrives.
Or something.

God knows we've been through some dark times in the last few years, but, like you, I genuinely believe we're on the cusp of something here. Nobody in the media is talking us up, nothing is expected of the team outside of Liverpool supporters, people are talking about the power shift in Merseyside over to Everton!

I reckon we're the dark horses this year, and I reckon it'll work for us.

I am very optimistic about our future under Brendan, even if this season we come 7th or 8th again.
Hopefully this season will be a transition season, where we finally identify a clear playing style.
The only downside to having a transitional season is if we come 8th again it becomes even harder
to pull in/keep players. Though at the same time I think players like Suso, Sterling and Shelvey bode
extremely well for our future, its just if Brendan has the balls to through them in the deep end.

Most of all I am looking forward to actually ENJOYING watching Liverpool play, style wise. In the past 2 seasons
even when winning iv felt we where a pretty boring team to watch, apart from Suarez basically.

By reading that I might not sound very optimistic, but don't get me wrong I think we can get close to 4th if not 4th.
Mainly because we are not the only team in transition.
