Suarez as a No. 9?
« on: August 18, 2012, 04:49:14 PM »
Most attacks finish with him, most are missed. Should we be looking to put him LW/RW or as a.N.10?

Rogers would well to analyse where we will get the most out of him.

I would prefer Borini as the main striker really with Suarez on the right/left.

Been saying we need a proper CF for 18 months. Suarez can't finish to save his life.

to be honest i think borini should be in the middle with suarez' trickey out wide. Borini is a centre forward with good movement and finishing, and we've all seen Suarez' best moments coming from out wide.

His shots/goals ratio is below 5%. You arguing with the fact he's not a CF? The guy misses sitters all the fucking time. I'm not saying he lacks ability, but 1 vs 1 i don't trust the guy whatsoever

Not too surprising of a sentiment to have. I love Luis, he's a great player, but he's got the composure of a wet fart when he's in front of goal.

This. Bonus points for not having to use Downing then (Sterling or Assaidi on the left, perhaps).

Suarez needs to be central to our play and he can't do that outwide. If he's outside i want him very very very narrow.

Why are people talking about Fabio fucking Borini are you for real?

He was arguably our worst player today. We need to go out and buy a proven fucking goal scorer. Don't give a flying fuck what anyone thinks, Darren Bent is who we should be buying.

The ball can come wide y'know. He'll drift anyway, it's just having him outwide means that there's not a gaping hole in the middle of the field when he does as well having somebody in the box - or in the position to get into it - when Suarez is picking the ball up outwide/outside of the box.

Other than the header from the Borini cross in the second half I didn't see any sitters.

I think more worrying was how shit the three behind him were whom he was light years ahead of.

Bar his last chance, he didnt miss any clear cut chances and most of them he made himself.. he probably better on the left cutting in but this thread in clearly knee-jerk. More worringly Borini looked quiet but early days for him and downing well..

He just can't finish... :(

No matter how classy he is with the ball at his feet dribbling he just has zero composure when an opportunity arises.

He isn't a cf, should be played in the hole or in the right attacking or left. I really hope Rodgers addresses this promptly because we seen it last year and we will see it all this year unless we get an early goal and the pressure is lifted.

Even having Carroll down the middle, even if he does fuck all he will allow Luis to do his thing without being the focal point with all the pressure

He was hugely wasteful last season and too early to judge what becomes of this season. But hes definately not an out and out striker and never will be. Hes better playing off the striker or to the wide of him.

We need a quality fox in the box.
If he retires I'll eat my fucking cock.

I don't think the thread is knee-jerk if we go back to last year as well.  However, I think Suarez could potentially be a prolific scorer for us (as he was for Ajax) if he gains that little bit of compusure and isn't as easily frustrated.  Some of this, I think, could be related to the amount of matches he is playing (no time off, once again, before this season).  He seemed better for us, as far as scoring, when coming off of his breaks (biting, Evra).

If he continues to miss chances it would be worthwhile to shift him out wide with Borini central, just to see how it goes.  Obviously there will be a lot of interchanging, but in general a Suarez and Johnson combination out wide would be interesting to see.
