Xabi would keep out most of the prem so that is hardly something to throw at any player!
Exactly. Plus, I'm sure he was injured when he first signed for Madrid, which can't have helped him first-team wise. Quality player though. He's been playing at left back for Madrid in the preseason too, so he's got a bit of versatility about him.

No it's not.

That was there because Mourinho wanted him, if Marca runs something to do with Real there's usually fire from somewhere within the club.

Nope, he's a deep lying playmaker. Would occupy the CM position alongside Lucas.

Don't see it happening if we get Allen.
Why not? speak as is Allen(world class)  why we not allowed better option? why can't this be cause we selling Adam to fulham in dempsey deal? nothing wrong with having options specially when options are better than what you currently have in your team. Also if not mistaken when he first broke into first team he played more attacking off left wing for Dortmund(unless i thinking of some one else).

Depends what we want, personally even though his development has been slowed at Madrid lack of games and injury he was far ahead of Allen.

One good season, followed by an injury plagued one, then not fancied by Mourinho. Far ahead of Allen might be a stretch. Way less risk with Allen too.

It is just like LFC - Liverpoolecho for Real Madrid. Credible when it comes to Real madrid news, but becomes a Dailymail when it comes to other clubs

Agreed, it's either one or the other for me.  Sahin has played at a higher level for longer, but Allen has a bit more speed about him, which is something we're really lacking.

To be fair, I actually agree, because a Lucas - Allen axis will change the dynamic of our play, and people will take a long time to realize how good that partnership can be, but I also think that Sahin is a special talent, and I think if there is an opportunity we should get him.
BTW, I still haven't gotten over Xabi leaving, so anytime a deep lying playmaker is mentioned, it makes me lose sense a bit.

Getting both would kill Henderson! For me Sahin is the level above Allen but if Sahin is a loan & Allen a full transfer would go for Allen.

Get Allen and him in for a year and we'd start having a working/actually possibly really good central midfield again. It's been a while.

Hoped we could do this last year. The Mourinho connection to Rodgers seems like an awful lot of "two plus two"-ing. If other Premier League clubs are serious about him, we may not compete for his signature. Then again, we were, allegedly at least interested when he was leaving Dortmund, so hopefully we'll have done our homework on him and would be ready to pounce if the opportunity to sign him on loan does arise.

So they didnt really go all out and say he's signing then. Therefore this example does nothing positive or negative for their reliability.

The Sahin story doesn't say anything concrete either, just that they "understand" that Liverpool would be willing to take him on loan or with a buy back clause (but not which) - something that probably applies to just about every club in the Premier League.

"Would you be willing to take Sahin on loan?" "Yes."

There ya go, that's the story.

I like the fact Rodgers is looking at more loan targets, makes sense to me if you can't buy the type of player you want due to certain limitations to do so. Mourinho link could help but as stated before, if he's being pushed out the door, it's unlikely he's gonna care where Mourinho thinks he should go unless he actually is in his future plans

Well, he left his boyhood club Dortmund, who just won the league with him (and got in the CL again after~ 8 years), to join Real for 8m. He was also the captain and one of their key players. Well, Dortmund replaced him with Gündogan (and Kehl became fit again) and won the league again.

I wouldn't want a player with that mentality/personality here.

A 'controlling' midfield quartet of Lucas, Allen, Sahin and Henderson to choose from would be very nice.  The likes of Gerrard and Shelvey would play further forward if that was the case.  Allen and Sahin in place of Adam and Spearing would be a significant upgrade imo.

German article from Bild. Saw it on the site which shall not be named.

Googling shows this Madrid forum, and a Spanish language Madrid forum where it seems to have originated.

Quote

What? He was club captain, they'd just won the league and got into the CL after a long lay off. I'm sure the staff would have perhaps expected him to stay on at Dortmund rather than fuck off for less than 10m to Madrid. Some players are smarter than others and see through these bullshit deals and decide to stay and repay the faith and build on what they have achieved. I totally disagree with the 'who wouldn't want to go to Madrid' comment. Bet he's regretting it now, doesn't look like it was a good move at all
