The simple annual question: Which Premier League manager will be sacked first?

Four were sacked during last season (Bruce, Warnock, McCarthy, Villas-Boas); five the season before (Hughton, Allardyce, Hodgson, Di Matteo, Grant). There seems to be a good younger managerial class this season, but clearly some will be given the boot between when the season kicks off and ends in May.

Mark Hughes is no mug though.

Honestly, I think my favorite would be Chris Hughton. Managing a Norwich team which achieved back to back promotions? No win situation, and I like the guy but question marks remain over his ability. Then there's Steve Clark - there are untested guys here. Also Lambert could land in trouble at Villa - their squad is mostly youth products and arguably, the worst squad in the league.

I reckon.

1) Hughton
2) Lambert
3) Clark
I know what you mean. I really wish the Madrid born former Real Vallodolid, Osasuna, Tenerife, Extremadura, Valencia and Inter Milan manager stayed loyal and faithful to a foreign club that sacked him by never managing another club again. Burn him.

McDermott.

Just because I don't think there's a particular stand-out contender, and Reading have new owners who may or may not be trigger happy.

Total guess.

Yup good shouts there. Unless they have horrendous starts then I think Southampton/Reading will stick with their managers too.

I guess you can never rule out Abramovich making a change if Chelsea are shit

I wouldn't be surprised if any of those get off to a slow start, if they get pushed out, despite their talent. Lambert has big issues at Villa to deal with and  I wouldn't be surprised if Hughton has difficulties too with a Norwich side that achieved back-to-back promotions. Clarke really has to show he isn't a classic number two.

As for Hughes, QPR have added a lot older players on decent wages this summer, which they did in January as well. It will be interesting to see if that pays off, because if they slump early, Fernandes has shown before with Warnock that he will pull the trigger if necessary. A slow start by either Di Matteo or Villas-Boas (whose job at Spurs is probably trickier than it first appears) could see them go as well.

Di Matteo will be gone before the end of the season. I'm not sure if he'll be the first, or who'll be the first, but I've gone for him.

Didn't want to land on him, but I voted for Steve Clarke simply because he's the only one who has it all to prove, and the fans could easily push him out if they get off to a bad start

Completely agree that there is no standout candidate this season. This is probably the best group of managers in the PL for some time, which will probably make the relegation fight really interesting this season.

Gone with McDermott, same reasons as Juan.

Think Lambert will have trouble with the squad he has at Villa though. Di Matteo probably won't last the season, surprised he's last pre-season with their results too.

I'll go with fat sam, if they dont have a good start the fans will turn on him with the old 'long ball' stuff,

Surprised some of you have said Mcdermott, think Reading will do alright and the best of the three promoted teams,

Sam Allardyce for me, he did a good job getting them promoted but the fans will quickly turn on him when results go the wrong way. His style is not what West Ham fans like to see.

\Pardew, after the 'success' of last season, Newcastle fans will go ape when they are on the bottom 3 in November.

Think Fulham will struggle this season, throw in Al Fayed being unpredictable, Jol's the only standout for me.

I went for Jol. Just because i've not seen anyone who they've signed. Think there owners have been quick to fire managers in the past too.

A total guess though really.

Think Laudrup will struggle to be honest.  Swansea will tumble and they'll sack him in January as they loom in the bottom three.

There's always the very real possibility Abramovich will make a change even if Chelsea are winning shit. There is no logic in that club.

Di Matteo didn't actually improve Chelsea in the league last season. I don't think Chelsea will do as well as people think, well i'm hoping more than expecting.

In fairness they knew the league was gone towards the end so they weren't playing full teams.

He's a good manager and WBA must be slapping themselves that they ever sacked him, but not World Class, yet at least.

Next season will be an indicator - but his squad is strong and he is more then capable of making them play. He might, though, run into the same problems Villas Boas did - i.e, that moving the defensive line higher up the pitch is hard with their best defender having played his whole career as a deep lying defender. I personally doubt they will challenge for the title this time around -  but they should stick with Matteo if they want to win it in the near future.
