El Pistolero
« on: August 4, 2012, 01:32:26 PM »
Let's try not to get this one locked. Don't talk about the whole Evra saga etc etc.

This thread is purely for his football. He's back in training next week, and he could feature in the second leg against FC Gomel. ;)

Quote
Brendan Rodgers admits he cannot wait to start working with Luis Suarez as the striker prepares to head back to Melwood next week.

The No.7 will return to Liverpool following his involvement with Uruguay at the Olympics - and his new manager believes he can hit the ground running.

Rodgers said: "It will be fantastic to have Luis coming back, and he is already fighting fit.

"He will have a couple of days off and join up with us after this weekend.

"He's been playing games, so he will already be up to a decent level of fitness, maybe even higher really, because he's had more competitive games.

"I'm really looking forward to working with him."

He`s good at playing football. That is all.  :wave
That right peg hits it and you see the future arc of the ball and time goes al gluey like a Dali painting, and for a second there's a 20yr old StevenGerrard and your young self cheering him on through the prism. His big smile fades in an the net is shivering and J.Hart's trying not to look grateful for the privilege of being that close to greatness

Think he will need some rest and hope he gets it. Looked a little exhausted at the olympics.

Think he will be even better this season and I am sure he will enjoy Rodgers ideas and style

Glad Uruguay got knocked out to have him back at the club and working with Rodgers.

He can't be as unlucky as he was last season with hitting the post / bar etc.

I just hope we can get players around him who he can play one / twos with, give him lots of help with movement around him and if that happens, then he can be the best attacking player in the league.

He is the catalyst now for our attack.  We need to have Gerrard as close to him as possible, just like Norwich away last season.

I hope we can make better use of him this season. I thought he worked too hard in defence last season. Or to be more specific, I thought the rest of the team was too passive. We got little from Suarez defensive work. If we fix that, I believe he will have a really good season. I hope that he can get close to 20 league goals and/or 20-25 goals+assists. He's the only one we have for that job, so we need him to reach that.

Some pressing high up the pitch will help that, something that we better do this year.

That's what I hope for. I reckon it could make a really big difference to our goal return.

Can't wait to see him in red again really. He just needs to calm the fuck down and play football. If he manages to get through the season without any scandal or suspension, we will be able to challenge for the fourth. But no matter how much stick he gets, I'll support him. From what you can tell he seems like a very decent lad, just got a bit of too much temperament in him.

He's one of my favourite players in the world to watch. The way he takes the ball past people makes it look totally effortless.

Definitely agree with this, I can see him breaking the 20 league goal mark this season.

I like the way he beats players, he doesnt even do much skill just taps the ball into them.. He either gets past or wins corners/throw ins. Hard to tackle properly.

I'm very excited about the Suarez-Borini possibilities. From the outside looking in, I just get this feeling that their styles, personalities and drive could mesh pretty well. Maybe I am just being hopeful, but I am very upbeat about it. I see BR allowing them to swap positions throughout matches with Suarez coming inside then going wide and vice-versa. The both have excellent movement, so that thrills me. Hope they can both keep their fitness, because they could really terrorize defenses this year. Cannot wait.

got a feeling he'll give borini a lot of tap-ins. too often last season he had the ball and was the only red man in the box
I think I may be turning gay. That back heel & through ball to Enrique made me jizz like Ive never jizzed before. My fiancee has got some serious work to do if she wants to get me as excited as I do about Coutinho.

Ah it won't be long until they all have something else to talk about than what a c*** Suarez is. I think the boos will do for him what they did for Ronaldo and make him set the place on fucking fire. He strikes me as that kind of character.

It will be interesting to see exactly how Brendan intends using him. I hope he gets a run on Thursday with Borini and possibly Pacheco. I think that front three could cause havok with their movement, technical ability and skill. I'd imagine Luis will be the one playing through the middle, and is most likely to be the one who drops deepest with the wide players getting ahead of him at every chance.

I honestly think he is gunna' absolutely tear it up this season.

I dont see the booing stopping at all due to his aggressive & flamboyant personality on the pitch, the first time each game he makes one of his gestures or goes down I expect the crowd to be all over him. Its a shame but I doubt Suarez cares or will let it affect his game at all.

Barring injury/suspension I think it's a safe bet to say he will get 20+ in all competitions. I want to see 30+ (or dare I say 40+!). He is capable of it. The team needs to click and he has to tidy up that finishing for us. He doesn't lack that composure to finish with Uruguay but then again they provide better service for him. Onwards and Upwards Luis!

I was absolutely delighted that Uruguay lost against GB in the olympics not because GB progressed, but because I knew that Luis would be coming back to us sooner than he would if they got to the final. I take it this means he'll have a good chance of being available to play in 2 weeks for our opener against West Brom?

Its been said by other people and myself on a number of occassions, but I fuckin love the lad. His excitement for the game and the delight he gets from scoring a goal is just so refreshing. He's an absolute worldy and maybe I am biased, but I wouldnt swap him for any other striker in the world! We should all count ourselves so lucky to be able to watch a player of his ability every week. I love how other fans hate him as this seems to just spur him on even more (see stoke away in the C/C last year for proof)! If he stays fit I can see him winning the golden boot next year, I really can.

I cant wait to see him tearing PL defences apart again this season and bouncing on the KOP to the 'luis suarez song'. I just cant get enough!  ;D

Cant wait to see him in action for us again. Capable of some truly amazing things when he's on fire!

I do think we need one of those banners that Uruguay had "boo if you're scared of suarez!" it's not going to suddenly end this season, so let's turn it into a positive for the lad.

Best player we have on his day and even not on his day, just hope LFC/Breden/Jen chang/ whoever have some kind of plan in place for his protection and to let him play because you just know the Ref's are going to give him F all already and opposition defenders will be looking to get at him plus the crowd on his back.

Anyone watched his games for Uruguay? Don't understand why they switched to a 4-2-3-1 and didn't push Cavani up with him into their usual 4-4-2? Suarez looked pretty isolated and didn't really have anyone to play off. Ended up asking too much from him a lot of the time and trying to pull the impossible out of the bag.

That 4-2-3-1 could have worked if Cavani wasn't more worried about getting injured than helping the team :no
The problem was that Suarez would drop deep all the time to get the ball, leaving little presence on the rival's area. The fact that Uruguay lost possession so easily didn't help the strikers, who could never really materialize their potential to help the team

When Rafa came in he made Stevie play in a more focused way - I think the same will happen with Suarez this year.
If my assistant had not signalled a goal, I would have given a penalty and sent off goalkeeper Patr Cheh. he beeped me to signal the foul. The noise from the crowd  stopped me hearing it, I have been involved at places like Barcelona, Ibrox, Old Trafford, Arsenal, but I've never in my life been involved in such an atmosphere. IT WAS INCREDIBLE
