It takes foresight, judgement and balls of steel to make these decisions and get them right...

Now, personally, I wouldn't sell Agger, but it seems BR thinks he will have a stronger squad by doing so.

Can't slaughter him for that until we see if he's right or not, that means we have to be patient and wait until we see the results of it...... It might turn out to be a master stroke who knows?

When Rafa came in he had to sell a really good injury prone player too, brought in alonso with the money.

But why havent we got any resources? We got a season ticket list as long as anything, we have massive tours every year, we sell loads of merchandise, we have big deals with major brands and lucrative tv rights.

Where is all that money going?

Over 70% of the clubs total turnover goes to player wages; that's where all the money is going, and it's unsustainable.

Remember that when people talk about how Gerrard "deserves" 136k a week to play half the season, because he's a legend etc.

or Andy Carroll getting paid 80k per week to score a goal every 550 minutes. And so forth.

Agger is a very good player but if someone offers 20 million you have to consider it. He could get hurt again in October and be out for the year, then you're left with a 28 year old player with a year left on his contract coming off injury and worth hardly anything.

Agger will have to be replaced in the next year or so regardless; the only question is whether City (or whomever) will pay for that replacement.

There may be a limit on the number but it does not feel like there any hands off signs up at this moment. And another serious point, why does it appear that all those players that most fans would suggest are not the source of great confidence are those who also appear (I may be wrong, who knows what goes on behind the scenes) not to be being actively marketed.

It would take a very good PR department to convince me that Carroll, Skrtel, Agger and Bellamy are not being actively marketed/having offers considered and the 'you know who's' are.
