This has been all over Twitter - but I cannot find anything relating to this on the actual 'Gazzetto' website though, anywhere.

I think this might be the "story". Basically just says that they are willing to only sell for €20m, as 30% of any transfer goes to Peñarol. Just saying ourselves, Tottenham and Inter might be linked. Gazzetta are usually quite reliable, but no quotes.

Bologna (not his agent) have been using Liverpool to drum up interest and draw a firm bid i from Inter. There is no Liverpool bid for the player and I fully expect there not to be one.

Have a feeling this is the case. Sounds more like Bologna trying to drum up interest here.

So in a way by Carroll staying we loose Agger. The ghost of that deal is still haunting us.

Like many here I'll be gutted if we let Agger go (even more so if it's to a rival team). How we ever gonna rebuild if we keep shipping out our best players...

it's obviously not confirmed, but the article in the ' bellamy news only' thread suggests we're paying his contract off, so he can leave for cardiff. surely this is a joke?

he wants to leave for his hometown for  his family, by all accounts, which is fair enough. so why do we pay him. surely we could just agree to release him from his contract since it's his request? this would take the piss out of players contracts even more than ever!

Look up the Craig Bellamy Foundation. That might give you some insight into why money is important to the player and why we might be so happy to give it to him.

As someone said further above, when the press link players with us everyone is happy enough to brush it off as 'paper bollocks' yet now they are doing the same the opposite way round people are seemingly queuing up to jump off the nearest tall building.

this is madness.

were linked to every player under the sun and people assume its bullshit, then as soona s 1 of our players are linked with a move away all hell breaks loose.

will believe we are selling agger when we either accept an offer or lfc confirm we are interested in selling until then its just more bullshit

well rodgers had the perfect opportunity the other day to say he wasnt for sale and is part of his plans when he was asked the question why wasnt agger in the europa league game, he didnt. Think its plain to see agger and carroll are up for sale.

Not that i agree with it tho, selling one half of arguably the best defensive back partnership in the league last season is absolute stupidity

i don´t think Coates won´t get enough time even with Agger in the squad...selling Agger would leave us with Carra and Coates as backup...that´s not enough...Big teams have at least 3 top CB players...

selling Agger and justify it would be a madness. If we sell Agger, then we have to buy another top CB....but you won´t find a good and loayal as Agger so soon.

I agree to an extent but the new owners and Rodgers will look at the facts and weigh it up that way. They will be thinking that they can sell now (at the right price) and maybe find the next Agger for about half the fee and use the rest of the cash to go towards an attacking player. With his injury record, the club will see Agger as being over valued in the market and so may cash in before it's too late. I think we'll see a lot of players leaving in future when they get to a certain age and still have a good resale value. The onus will be on the scouting system to produce and find players who are undervalued to replace them.

Yaaaay Oddball, how the devil are you?

Agger is my favourite player and I will be gutted when he eventually leaves. My major concern is who we will be signing as a replacement for him. We have been linked with the likes of Ashley Williams, and frankly anything is going to be a big step down from Daniel Agger, but we need to be wise, get a fantastic deal for Agger with money we can use to buy a top quality centre half or one with a great future. We clearly need to buy a defender who is good on the ball, has experience but not too old.

In my opinion, no chance it will be Williams. More likely it will be Fernando Amorebieta, about as like for like we'll find (though he's not as good), now that Verthonghen has gone to Spurs.

Also think the only side Agger will be off to is Barca. Song interest means naff all as well as I think they're after him to be a utility player much like Puyol has been at times.

I may be wrong but Guardiola wanted Agger the last time his contract was running short but opted for Pique, Agger's injuries may have played a part in that in my opinion.

If they offer us 20-25m for Agger with perhaps Afellay and one of Tello or Cuenca on a loan deal similar to Bojan then it would be tough to turn down.

Or quite possibly, it has been discussed maturely with all parties and the club has agreed to this as the best for all parties.

The insinuation of your post is that you don't like the idea of the club being humanitarian enough that they WANT to help to fund a program that keeps kids alive in a poor part of the world.

It would be a complete travesty if Agger was sold. However, I don't understand why people are thinking he's being pushed out of the club if Barcelona are the ones that are interested. No matter who you are, if Barcelona come calling, you'd have your bags half packed.

The club has agreed to pay Bellamy £1.3m because it's best for all parties?

If, and its a massive IF, the club is doing it out of the kindness of their own heart because of his foundation, then I'd expect to see them donating it directly to them. It would benefit them more, and also ourselves indirectly.

Either way, we have many players with foundations and who give to charity, the club does itself, so I highly doubt this is any reason. If Bellamy is concerned moving will end up with less going to his foundation then he has the option not to leave and earn the full amount.

So what?

We are in no position to be giving hundreds of thousands of pounds away because a footballer wants to move home to Cardiff but his home club won't be able to support his financial lifestyle.

LFC do enough charity work.

If the money is so important to Craigs foundation, then he should sacrifice moving clubs to keep paying the bills for his foundation - or he's a clever idea - pay the money out of his own savings. He's been on close to 90k a week for the past 4 seasons, he'll cope.

You know that he very nearly didn't sign for us, as it meant giving up too much money from his city wages. He said that any huge drop in wages massively effects the amount of good he can do in Sierra Leone.
It could easily be that his return to Cardiff is as agreeable to us as it is to him, but that this is a stumbling block and we are being cool enough to help out.

Makes me proud, not angry.

Bellamy pay off would be a strange move, but I suppose we'll bring in a player on loan for the 60k we won't be paying Bellamy, and hope he can play a lot more games than Bellamy could. Could be risky.
