I'm sure you'll hear his name in the Echo and local media sooner or later so here goes.
He's 18 and has just left King David's College. He's just been accepted into University to do an architecture degree. Strapping looking lad who has the girls swooning all . he's built like a brick shithouse and does all that MMA fighting which he's very good at. But most importantly he's genuinely one of the smartest and nicest kids you could ever wish to meet. i sincerely mean that he's such a pleasure to be in company with.
He went on holiday to Malia in Crete on Friday with all his mates on his first lads holiday. He went out and took the knock. He went back to the hotel on his own. When his mates got back later on they were told that he was found on the stairwell hanging by his shoe laces. The people who found him got him down and he was still breathing but unconscious. They got him to hospital and he is now in a coma. we managed to get his mum out to him on Saturday but the news she got wasn't great so my missus panicked and she's flew out as well yesterday to be with him. His position at the moment is that he has swelling on the brain but it's only a mild edema and they plan to try and bring him out of sedation tomorrow. they were initially saying that they thought if they took him off life support his organs would fail but now they're so sure until he hopefully wakes up. If he comes around he may be brain damaged, he may be fine we just have to wait and see and hope i suppose.
Another major problem we now have is that he's covered for his medical expenses but not for an air ambulance home. this is going to cost £25k. His poor mother doesn't have a pot to piss in and while i plan on donating a few quid i can't afford that sort of money. His mate's have organised a fundraising night for him next Friday so hopefully that will help but i very much doubt they'll get near that.
This has been without doubt one of the most upsetting things i've ever encountered. I feel so helpless to my bird. she's absolutely destroyed over it as she has been very close to him through his whole life. she practically helped raise him. i've never seen her so bad and i can't do anything. It's so upsetting coz no one has the first idea why he would do this. It's turned our world upside down. My poor daughter is a mess and my little lad is asking questions i just don't know how to answer.
I'm not a religious person but it's time like this i wish i was so it could pray for him to come through this.
