Given that Liverpool were the first club in Britain to have shirt sponsorship, this deal makes absolute sense.

We opened the flood gates, may as well ride the wave.

Another betrayal of our Anarcho-Syndicalist collective roots.

If you want to be successful in modern football you need to get these kind of things, don't forget we introduced shirt sponsors to England.

Or we could just sit on our hands and say "ITS NOT THE LIVERPOOL WAY" about everything like we have done for 20 years and get left further and further behind

Any sign of us creating a training gear deal like United have with DHL?

I suppose it stipulates already that we have standard chartered on our training gear.

But United got 40 million for DHL to be on their training gear not to mention whatever they are getting from AON.

40 million, really? Must be a multi-year deal for that, pretty sure AON are only paying around the same as Standard Chartered pay us per year. Think we get £1 million more than them over the same length of contract, or something like that.

We are getting 80 million over a 4 year deal with standard chartered.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/6186690/Liverpool-agree-80-million-shirt-sponsorship-deal-with-Standard-Chartered-Bank.html

Man Utd are getting 80 million over a 4 year deal with Aon.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jun/03/manchester-united-aon-corp-aig

However they are also getting another 40 million for a 4 year deal with DHL to put their badge on training wear.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/22/manchester-united-kit-deal-dhl

At the time I thought we were getting a cracker deal but again looks small time compared to the deals man united are making. Not to mention other clubs such as Man City's deal with Etihad and Arsenal's long term Emirates deal.

Of course Uniteds deals will be higher, they have had consistent years at the top.

Arsenals however are peanuts compared to ours.

Yes. For comparision Etihad are giving Man City 400million for shirt and stadum name rights.
Emirates gave Arsenal 100 million for 15 years. Although i think the shirt sponser runs out before that but the stadium rights stay until 2021.

Etihad is not a genuine example giving its links to its owners.

And glad you agree about Arsenal which is, as you show, peanuts.

Bit disappointing they couldn't have struck a similar deal with Jaguar Land Rover given the strong local connection, but then I forget the only "local" connection that matters is US$$$$.

At least the blurb they have up on LFC seems to pay honor. For the ManU it is just 2 sentences about being involved with their preseason.
