Research help - Suspension rules
« on: July 23, 2012, 03:24:07 PM »
I am doing some research about the following leagues in Europe - Premiership, La Liga, Seria A, Bundesliga 1 & 2, Dutch and French leagues.

I am trying to look at the difference between each league in terms of suspensions.

For the Premiership these are the following suspension rules for yellow / red cards:

Yellow Cards

5 yellow cards - 1 match ban (next game domestic game missed)
10 yellow cards - 2 match ban (next game domestic game missed)
15 yellow cards - 3 match ban (next game domestic game missed)
20 / 25 / 30 yellow cards - (Regulatory Commission decide punishment)

Red Cards

Red card from two yellow cards - 1 match ban (next game domestic game missed)
Red card from deny a goal scoring opportunity - 1 match ban (next game domestic game missed)
Red card from offensive / abusive langauge or gesture - 2 match ban (next game domestic game missed)
Red card from Violent conduct, serious foul play or spitting - 3 match ban (next game domestic game missed)
Red card having previously been sent off in that same season - 1 extra match suspension

If clubs appeal can these suspensions be delayed?  If so how?

Does anyone know what the suspension rules are for the other leagues (La Liga, Seria A, Bundesliga 1 & 2, Dutch and French)?

Are they different to the Premiership, if so how?

Any information or help regarding this would be appreciated, as I can't find anything online about the other leagues.

Thanks in advance.

Surely some RAWKites from other countries can help me with this?

Not being funny but have you tried Football Manager for some of the simple details? Not sure if they are reliable with these areas but could worth a look.

I don't play Football Manager.

I found this on a Football Manager site:

Quote
According to FM 2008:

France: 3-6-9-12-15-18 = 1 game

Germany: 5-10-15

Holland: 4 yellow cards, it goes like 6, 7, 8, 9, 10..(every caution after after 6th yellow card make you banned for 1 game)

Italy: 4, 8, 11, 13, 14 , 15 , 16 (every caution after 13th yellow card make you banned for 1 game)

Spain: 5-10-15-20

But not sure if they are accurate or have changed since this date.

It also doesn't give me the red card information.

Not 100%, but I think there are no fixed bans for red cards in the bundesliga. All red cards end up in front of a dfb court.
Yellow cards - one match ban after 5,10,15,... Don't think there is an end-of-the-season amnesty.
Bans usually don't carry over from the legue to the cup.

Thanks very much.

Where did you get the info?  Or is this through experience?

A very different system to the Premiership by the looks of it.

Germany is a suspension after each fifth yellow card, so you were right.

The stuff about the Dutch league ain't true. System for suspension is the following. The fifth, seventh, ninth booking all lead to a one-match suspension. The tenth doesn't, but the eleventh booking does and so does any a booking commencing with the twelfth.
It's just sex and violence, melody and silence.

Are the reds the same as the Premiership?
