Wasn't it yesterday Sky sources said we were swapping Adam for Dempsey? Now today, they've denied it. I'd suggest this swap deal won't be around long either.

Adam for Dempsey....wouldn't bother me at all. Seen what Adam can do (even though haven't seen his best in an LFC shirt), know the type of player he is and i don't think we'd lose alot from our team if he goes. Whether Dempsey proves to be a success remains to be seen but I think he is worth giving a try...so i would do that deal.

Ba for Carroll.....little bit more complex. Carroll seemed to be getting better etc etc. Ba started great and faded abit once Cisse arrived. (i know he was moved out of position to accomodate but still....) PLUS i still dont trust his fitness or consistancy to play at the level he started last season in. So no, wouldn't do that deal.

Expecting Downing to be a huge improvement this season and i can see Rodgers using Spearing as a squad player getting him to keep his game simple and just harrass and win the ball back and short pass to a more creative player ?

Newcastle paid about 13m did they not?
And he did really well for them, in the admittedely short space of time there so far.

I honestly think the +cash would be coming out of our pockets.

Newcastel won't cisse let go, and if they do it will be for 25m + minimum. They sold Carroll for 35 ffs..

the swap deal probably comes from paper talk, we would be extremly stupid to accept Ba as a part of the Carroll deal. His career might be over any min if he places his knee wrong.

We want money for carroll plus a few more sales and probably invest it in a big money striker.

Joe Allen would be a great signing and I hope it goes ahead.

Dempsey would be a decent squad signing but if we are not looking to play Sterling often then it doesn't make that much sense as our squad still lacks a winger/attacking midfielder of genuine flair.

If Carroll leaves then to me someone like Daniel Sturridge seems a likely signing. We have been linked with him enough.

Both of Newcastle's main strikers will be at the African Cup of Nations, who is the beggar? just because we've negotiated weekly in the past doesn't mean that's how we should continue, like I said, if it's a swap then we dictate the terms (either way Newcastle will be making a killing)

I saw it at the time in Germany quoted as €12m, so maybe just over £10m. I remember watching him play for Freiburg vs Nuremberg and him being the best player on the pitch. At the time I thought someone will sign him soon, thought it would be one of the bigger German clubs though.

There's no way they'll pay his 80k wages, so any deal will probably factor in paying Carroll off and leaving us with a pretty small change out of any fee we recieve. Ba might be thrown in just to sweeten the deal.

I honestly cannot see Newcastle swapping Cisse for Carroll, regardless of whether we pay them a few extra million or they pay us a few extra.

Cisse was brilliant last season.

And as much as some fans probably view Carroll as the possible return of their prodigal son, I dont think Pardew would be interested. I dont even think Mad Ashley is quite that mad.

If Cisse keeps up his form into next season which is very realistic, he'll only go for big bucks to a Champions League team if he does leave Newcastle at any point in the near future.

Well he was originally willing to accept 50k at Newcastle over 80k at Liverpool when we bought him.

I really think that if Allen comes in we should let Spearing and Adam go.

Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Aquilani, Allen, Shelvey is enough for our midfield 3, and if Dempsey comes he can play in the most advanced of the 3 roles. If anything, we need another competent defensive midfielder, whereas I see Spearing as a Henderson light - he has a good work rate and can pass the ball about, but that's about it.

Like the guy, but think he should move to get regular first team football at a lower level and develop his game. I suspect he will be sat watching Allen, Lucas, Gerrard and Henderson play regularly, Aquilani if he stays, and Shelvey.

Ba has a release clause of £7m does he not? So if we want £17m, I'd imagine any compromise would be at least £8m+Ba.

Its not a case of 'letting' them go. There has to be someone willing to buy them and pay their wages. I doubt they're many clubs willing to do that for our squad players.
