Good stuff mate. I actually agree with the no time limit as with Cricket drafts you need to look at players stats & figures which can take time where as Football most of us can think who's done what of the top of your head.

I would like to clarify one think though Steven when the voting eventually commences.

Are we basing votes purely on players performances in Ashes Tests not there complete career.

So stats for your players need to be good in Ashes when we eventually do our write ups.

I'd say we vote on them during their entire career as stats in just a few matches can be misleading, what does everyone think of that?

I'm happy with entire career but it could be stated in write ups etc that if you want to add any particular Ashes stats you can & may help towards votes. If you don't want to that's fine aswell

Definitely needs to be weighted to favour Ashes performances, if not stats IMO :wave

For an Ashes draft then Ashes performances should really be the judge.
that would be my preference

Sorry for the delay guys,

Anyway, we went for Warney!

Wouldn't everyone first pick?!

I honestly wouldn't have picked Warne if I had 1st choice if I'm being honest. Did you PM the next side?

Have PM'd Sorted about a choice... (I've turned up late to the game here, but at least I missed out on having to roll the pitch). OK... Warne eh? Who's next? A number 6?... and number 1, or a 3... or an 8. Hmnnn. We'll be back with an answer soon...

Warnie is a bit overrated in career terms (and I say that not only as an Australian but as a Victorian, and one of his biggest fans) but if you are weighting in favour of Ashes performances then I would put him second only to Bradman.

If only Bradman had played in 1970. He would have got the first draft pick.

Honestly Filler, how long can it take a swing bowling purist like you to pick between Phil Newport and Richard Ellison?

Anyone know a website where we can specifically get the stats for players in Ashes tests? All I've been able to find so far are sites with just career stats, which sucks.

If you go on the Stats thing on cricinfo you can filter by different criteria so you'll be able to select on records againsta certain opponent.

Don't beat yourself up about it. nicholasanthony uses the cricinfo stats and yet he can't see that Alastair Cook is world class. Some things that seem obvious to some just don't get spotted by others...

It's certainly made me think about our potential next pick a bit though, and not for the role I initially considered him for although he could be good there. My first choice for the position will definitely be taken up before we get the choice to pick I'm sure.
