Why do you think he wants out? Champions league club and all that. Does he think he will get a move to either of the Manc clubs or a team abroad challenging for their Division title? Its not like he isnt getting games at Arsenal.

It's like Van Persie, if he was going to sign a new contract he would have done so a long time ago, what with all the rumours flying about over the past 6 months or so. Difference is Arsenal are desperate to hang on to Van Persie

It would be exciting playing with Liverpool on FIFA with Walcott in the side  :P

I can't see none of the manc clubs wanting him, and can you really see him being up for going abroad? not much english players are.
Neither do I to both. Thats why I see this as contract posturing. Id like to be proved wrong though as Id take him quite happily.

Seeing as were quite deficient in wide players now I'd take him if he were available at a decent price say no higher than 10-12 million though.

So whats the outcome then in your opinion. 'Bigger' club/move abroad?

Reminds a bit of Babel, some moments of magic but frustrating as fuck. Brendan likes his pacey wingers so this does make sense. Who would replace him at Arsenal? Podokski likes to play on the left doesn't he?

Great comparison.

Walcott is an English Babel. Babel hardly got a chance, if he did i think he would have got similar stats. He's got a better shot, is much better phsically and i'd say more skilful. Both equally brainless.

I've seen this rumour a number of times and still can't think of any realistic reasons why he would he leave Arsenal to join us.

Totally underwhelmed by that video. Went past his man on the outside once in the whole game.

Reminds me of downing. When did wingers stop going past men and aiming for the byline?

First off he's up against Cole, probably the quickest full back he's likely to face in the league bar Enrique, secondly Arsenal under Wenger have rarely played the kind of football that requires wingers getting to the byline & whipping a ball in, they haven't really played like that consistently since the days of Kanu. That kind of winger died a long with 442 which is why United are willing to splash out on wingers that can play like that.

Most teams use wide forwards these days, even the smaller teams.

Not sure what you mean by this, unless you're just saying Babel has a harder shot, which is true.  Babel is from the head down and blast the ball school of finishing, but Walcott will try and either open himself up and pass it in or dink it over the keeper.  He's a much better finisher than Babel.

Very good question. Though, if he didnt sign a new Arsenal contract, which this could be all about, how much would he want should he be available on a free? Personally if he is available at a decent price and wage, I say get him now.

Agree we should try and get him now if we really want him. Because if we want him, we'd want him as a first pick player. No need to wait then. And it makes sense to sign him as our options down the flanks are fairly weak. Plus he's young and he's English and he was a productive last season.

Babel wasn't brainless, neither is Walcott, both of their decision making can be called into question at times but that comes with age & experience. I don't really rate Walcott but there's no doubt he's got bags of talent, when he's on his game he's a player any team in the league would want. He's inconsistent & I think he's stagnated at Arsenal. A move to a new club may well be just what he needs. Be that to us or somewhere else.

I mean exactly what you said. Walcott is definitely the better finisher. Babel does have a good shot though, i always rated it.

What's this myth that he's brainless it's starting to get annoying, it's like Johnson can't defend stop being the usual delusional football fan.

I'll define. In football brainless for me is someone who makes poor decisions and isn't clever with the ball. In Walcotts case his crossing is poor alot of the time, his passing is poor and hits no hopers. Actually he does alot of that going for little shitty reverse passes that are impossible for the reciever to get onto. Walcott also lacks brain when it comes to taking on a man, seen him fail so many times.

If anyones being a delusional football fan its the ones who want to shag him cos he got pace. Its like you've never watched him play a full 90 for Arsenal.

I really liked Babel, he was a good guy and for me a good player who always had potential. i was harsh in calling him brainless but really just said Walcott is getting worshipped when in fact he is about as good as Babel. And imo shitter than Babel. He plays for Arsenal with RVP to assist and all that passing to scoer from and plays everygame whereas Babel for us....?

Cant see him as a rodgers type player. If I was to pick a player from Arsenal it would be OXlade Chamberlain, way more game intelligence even with such little experience as he has compared to walcott

I've watched him play often enough and absolutely terrorise defences with his pace.  I've also seen him finish with aplomb a number of times.  Admittedly sometimes his end product is average, but he's a huge improvement on what we've had and offers pace which is something else we've seriously lacked - for years!

I would be extremely disappointed if we bought Theo Walcott. Lot of pace but usually nothing on the end. Great running in straight lines but is too limited in creativity department where we need to improve on. Would be a total waste of money.

I agree there is something of the Cisse one trick pony about him, except that I think he has a bit more to offer. I've never watched him and thought - geez I'd love him to play for Liverpool, but if he's linked to us I can see the positives.

Where did the Walcott link come from? Did Kenny or Rodgers want him?  If we know what sort of player Rodgers likes, its actually easy to infer whether we are interested in Walcott or indeed any player without even needing to look at twitter info

Nothing really...apart from:

pace
speed
the ability to beat a fuckin man
the ability to cross the ball
the ability to score goals
the ability to run the length of the pitch in a QF champions league game, beat 3 players and score in the 90th minute of a game
CL experience

But yeah...I cant see what he could offer brilliant 8th place Liverpool  ::)

Walcott is a better player than Babel, there's no argument about that. He's better in every department, he's quicker, he's a better passer of the ball, he's a better finisher, I'd be willing to bet per game Walcott has considerably more goals & assists than Babel (in the premiership). The only similarity I see is that they're a similar age & neither have really hit their full potential. The key difference for me is that Walcott does go through patches of being on fire, Babel never really had a spell like that for us, one or two games here & there & that was about it.

As I said in a previous post, Walcott's problem is consistency. He'll have 5 games where he's brilliant & the next 5 he'll look like he should be anywhere other than a football pitch. Like it or not though he's a considerable upgrade on our wide options at present.

Look at Scott Sinclair and Nathan Dyer at Swansea, hardly the most intelligent players, yet they do have one thing: pace. Is he a "Rodgers type player"? Judging by those two, I'd say yes.

I'm not going to use the example above as demonstration of his pace, if I remember correctly he'd only been on the pitch a few minutes, but what that clip demonstrates is incredible close control with the ball. He dances around Alonso like he isn't there with the ball almost glued to his foot and skips past a few more challenges. His his play isn't as unintelligent as some are making out, he knew exactly how to weight the pass into the box knowing Skrtel would run straight past it. Super play.

Is he world class? Not for me, but he'd definitely improve us and would sit in with BR's known preferred style of play. Not sure this will come off but would be pretty happy if it did.

Decent strength and balance there too as about four players try to take him out. He's got it in him, he really has got the tools, if he could just be more consistent and use his head a bit more he'd be a hell of a player.

Easy to forget he's only 23 as well. He's a decent to good player as he is at the moment, but the potential there is frightening if he can get it all together. He may never do that, and I'm not sure he's improved as much as he should have so far, but I'd still have him here.

Not suggesting he's in the same league but, Nasri? Fabregas? RVP? They seem ready to get rid of the latter and already have the former. They're fairly decent players they were willing to let go.

Walcott would definitely be a huge improvement on what we have now.

Better than what we have right now for the position, but that's not saying much. Wouldn't be my pick but he does have some rare attributes, attributes that we dearly lack, but overall he's just too limited as a footballer to be anything more than a stop gap, an expensive stop gap.

Walcott has talent no doubt about it but he has been badly coached at youth level and will always frustrate managers because of it. He is tactically poor and isn't able to carry out instructions from his managers, he plays off the cuff so to speak and as a result makes more bad decisions on the pitch than good. For this reason Capello didn't fancy him and Roy only used him as an impact sub in the summer. Wenger has had issues with this as well and quite a few Arsenal fans I know don't really rate him. Think the money would be better spent on someone else personally
